Brewers at Cubs--Game 2 of Doubleheader --> Tuesday, August 19 @ 7:05 p.m.: Brandon Woodruff (2.06 ERA, 3.62 FIP) vs. Jameson Taillon (4.44 ERA, 5.19 FIP)

Easiest silver lining, aside from still being up 7 games, is that the bullpen is going to steal a full day of rest, and the pitching matchups are pretty even the next two days, probably a slight edge to us. That, and we already got the one W we absolutely needed. One more makes this just a meh series. Two more makes pretty darn good, and would I be at all surprised if this team bounced back to still win the series?

Nope.

Stepping away from feelings for a second, the Brewers are of course completely capable of winning the last two. That would be a satisfying snatch back effort after this turd burger of a day.

But even to just get one of the next two is great, since the Cubs only get one (sorry, one and a half) in a big series they needed, that still works.

But giving them three games in the standings, and losing four in a row to them? That stings.

We won’t have to pitch the bottom of the 9th barring a comeback. So the silver lining is Megill and Mears should be rested and available for both Game 4 and 5. Koenig too and probably Hall and Uribe.

Anyway, we need to start scoring runs again.

Hall is out for a while, right?

Losing 4 in a row to the them plus the tiebreaker and leaving Chicago up 5 would not be good. They have the schedule to overcome a 5 game lead.

Not to mention the momentum.

We need to get 1-2 more games this series. As of tonight, we will be losing the season series to the Cubs.

At this point the cubs thing doesn’t matter to me.   If we don’t get a bye in the first round who gives a crap if you win the division or not at this point.   If we beat out the cubs and still have to play in the wild card then that would be disappointing

Ashby ... so talented ... so underachieving ...

He’s put up 1.2 WAR in 40 innings out of the pen.  He has a 2.06 ERA after tonight.  If that is underachieving then I think your expectations are probably unrealistic.

I wish I had confidence that Misioroski could give them 4 or 5 good innings, but he seems to have lost the rhythm he had when he first came up. His command has been terrible.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.
