Second HR of the day for Salvador Perez. 4-2 Royals leading Phillies.

300 career HR for Perez. 1,000 career RBI s he Hall of Fame worthy?

KC about to spit that bit.  Brewers need to win.

The Mets loss to the Rangers officially puts the Brewers in the playoffs

Philly's offense is humming along pretty good right now.  Lets hope the Royals can hold the lead

I know there are lot of things to be desired about the way we have played over the last month, but if you want to see a team that is actually choking in real time, look no further than the New York Mets. Couldn’t happen to a nicer team.

Correct move by the Phillies fan who caught it.  They came with a bunch of stuff to trade, he just wants to meet Perez after the game and give it to him himself.

Aaaand we're tied.  I'm so glad Schwarber wasn't like this with the Cubs.

I assume you were referring only to their last three games before today?

8-9 in their last seventeen.

Yep. Even with that they have been gaining on the Brewers. Don’t want to see them get into a long winning streak.

Most long winning streaks start with 3 or 4 in a row.

This year is so weird.   If you would have told me that we would be celebrating another playoff appearance I would be ecstatic now.    But this season is different after what has happened.   The only celebration is if they get the bye imo.   Anything else would be extreme regular season disappointment

but if they go to World Series all would be forgotten

The Cubs aren’t catching the Brewers. They’re too many games back with too few to play to worry about anything other than a catastrophic collapse.

The Phillies are a legitimate concern. I’m accepting of the possibility that we might not hold them off, but holding off the Cubs is far more important.

In my old age I have seen enough teams blow 6 game leads in the last two weeks to not take anything for granted.

When I went to college I met Phillies fans who were still traumatized by 1964 (6 years earlier) when the Phillies led by 6 with 12 games to play and lost 10 in a row to be passed by the Cardinals.

And when I was first old enough to follow baseball my Dad talked about the 1951 Giants who trailed the Dodgers by 13 games in mid August and were still down by 6 with 10 games to play. But they forced a playoff and won on Bobby Thomason’s famous “shot heard round the world. “

Those early experiences shaped me, and I’ve seen several more like them over the years. Catastrophic collapses and heroic comebacks happen and they have to start somewhere I don’t like seeing them get started  .

Now that feels good to see.  The only "z' so far!

I remember our guys playing like they were hung over the game after clinching last year, so keep the party mild tonight if you have to have one!

Was there a delay in the football game because it's only at halftime.  Good thing they are going to switch to the Brewers at first pitch though.

Just looked it up and they did have a delay due to lightning.

Remember what Yoda said:

"Cubs lead to Cardinals. Cardinals lead to dislike. Dislike leads to hate. Hate leads to constipation."

All fair and valid points.  While yes chances are massively in our favor, there's no point in counting unhatched chickens or taking victory laps before the checkered flag.  There will be plenty of time for that later.
