To be eligible for a team’s post season roster the player must be in that organization, not necessarily the major league team, by midnight on August 31st.

Clearly. Both teams are in the playoffs. One team partied like they won the world series and one had a toast and read a letter. You tell me why they were so different. The magic # to clinch the division is now 6.   To clinch the overall #1 seed (AL & NL) it is currently 8.  Phillies are down 3-0 in the top of the 6th.  If they lose then it is 7.
