BTW, I absolutely love the thinking behind taking RHP Cole Phillips. Premium HS draft pick. Elite stuff. Hasn't pitched an inning due to consecutive TJ's. I am sensing a Woodward/Phillips renaissance in 2026.

But would there be enough playing time?  The Brewers have been an organization for a while now that they will let players go if they can’t get them enough playing time.

Now that this is over we can anticipate a bevy of ML FA signings forthcoming. Our inning depth got absolutely pillaged. Spain, Warren, Peterson, and Hedbert played a lot of depth innings last year. Losing the upside of Vire stings.

It looks like a lot of infielders will be seeing outfield time in Biloxi

I'd already penciled in an aggressive promotion of Adamczewski to AA (after just 65 PAs and a .196 AVG in High-A), though figured I'd be wrong. But the odds just jumped significantly.

Shouldn’t we assume if the Brewers didn’t protect any of these guys on the triple A roster that they made an evaluation that they were ok with losing them to the draft?

I know it’s easy to fall in love with prospects but realistically how many of these guys are ever going to make it to the majors?

churning of roster depth seems like just normal off season business to me.

I mean some of these guys surely don't have much of a future in this org beyond org depth. Leaving them off AAA roster so they can go to an org that might value them more is just goodwill to the players. Guys like Peterson, Warren, Spain, Perez are all guys who probably didn't have much of a future here. Especially so on Peterson and Warren who are well down the pecking order of pitching prospects and corner IF prospects.

Hedbert Perez to Toronto. This is brutal

Zavier Warren to Cincinnati

I mean this is to give these players an opportunity elsewhere. Hedbert is a very nice prospect, tons of power potential but could not get healthy, and is getting lost in the prospect shuffle with a lot of high upside bats in the system. I hope he gets an opportunity to showcase what all were hoping from him when news broke out of his potential during the 2020 COVID summer "league".  Health and Ks really hurt him and the occasional defensive lapses.

Zavier Warren - will he know what to do if he is anywhere outside of Biloxi, I mean at least Cincinnati has a team in the Southern League (Chattanooga) so he will come back home every now and then. The question is what does biloxi do without it's Mayor?!??

Hansel Rincon to NYY

we hardly knew ya. This is odd to sign a guy a month ago and not protect him, I'm a little confused.

Garrett Spain to the Twins

2 years in a row for Mr. Spain to be selected, also uncommon. The spark plug gets another shot. He definitely was a cog in the Shuckers year (key hits or HR, and some defensive gems, and a beautiful maneuver to avoid the tag and get a run across that will be remembered for the ages .... link: https://www.milb.com/biloxi/video/garrett-spain-avoids-a-tag-to-score )

I can understand from a roster construction standpoint why they did it. Probably the logical thing to do. Doesn't mean I like it.

Beyond being org depth, these guys play their hearts out day in and day out, so it is sad to see guys like Perez or Warren who've spent years in the organisation leave so suddenly.

I obviously wish them the very best and hope to see them in an MLB roster one day

Really great lil convo.

Go straight to the 28:35 minute mark for Minor League Rule 5 discussion. After Rule 5 Master, JJ Cooper (this was his 18th Rule 5 Draft in attendance!) shouts out Hedbert and Zavi he goes straight into his favorite ML Rule 5 pick in one (now) Brewers prospect RHP Cole Phillips.

Awesome stuff overall!

*HINT: Phillips is rumored to be in line to miss all of 2026!
