After the biggest week of player movement of this hot-stove season, Milwaukee Brewers ace Freddy Peralta remains a hot topic.

According to a social-media post by Jon Heyman of the New York Post, five big-market teams are leading the pursuit of the right-hander. Those teams are the New York Yankees, New York Mets, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Francisco Giants, and Atlanta. But Heyman also notes that those five are "among many, many" teams trying to acquire Peralta. This comes after Brewer Fanatic's own Matt Trueblood reported Monday the Brewers were "moving toward a deal" for Peralta, with the Yankees as the most likely fit.

Peralta is a hot property as he is making a very affordable $8 million for 2026 before hitting free agency. He is coming off a 2025 in which he posted a career-best 5.5 bWAR with an NL-leading and career-high 17 wins to go along with a 3.64 FIP and 1.075 WHIP for an ERA+ of 154, the highest of his career.

Of course, the Brewers could always sign Peralta to an extension.

There is a 0% chance we sign Peralta to an extension.

Seriously, ZERO %.

I could see a similar deal to Woodruff if he blew out his arm within the next few months. So, maybe 1-2%?

These rumors are starting to sound like the Giannis rumors...national media trying to rile up Brewer fans.

Yes, 100% national noise. Not necessarily to rile up Brewers fans, though.

The Brewers won’t be able to resign Peralta but that doesn’t mean Milwaukee needs to miss out on an $8 million season that will likely include 200 strikeouts and 175 IP.

Someone who knows other systems better than I do, please tell me what this suggests about the type of return we’re potentially talking (realizing this report could be completely inaccurate).

Pretty much same as the Burnes trade - Brewers looking for one position player and one pitcher, both in that back end of the Top 100 (or just off of it) kind of range, that are also MLB ready (or close to it).

I DO NOT want Jones or Dominguez in a return for Freddy.  I don't like their profiles, and they seem to be pretty over-rated due to being in the Yankees system.  Please, do not make either of these guys the main piece in a Peralta trade...  Please don't make them ANY piece in a Peralta trade, I just don't want either player.

The Yankees are continuing to show interest in Freddy Peralta, sources tell The Athletic’s Chris Kirchner.
Would the Brewers want Jasson Domínguez, who could be available with Cody Bellinger back in New York? The Yankees also have major league starting pitching to part with in the form of Luis Gil, Will Warren or even the newly acquired Ryan Weathers. If the Brewers do decide to pull the trigger and deal their ace, this does seem like the most obvious trade fit.

If you're dealing with the Yankees, I think either Elmer Rodriguez or Carlos Lagrange has to be coming back as the headliner in the deal.  Beyond that, I guess I'm not sure what I'd be asking for if you're Arnold?  Do you want to try to get another MLB ready pitcher like Will Warren or Ryan Weathers?  Do you see if they'll include Dominguez in the package (not sure how much I'm in love with him either?)?  Do you try to get them to include their young SS prospect Kilby that appears to have a lot of helium right now?
