Honestly, one of my favorite aspects of the return of the Minor League season is the titular word play of the daily game threads. We are SO back!

And in a 20 team league the Brewers account for 5 of those 30 young hitting prospects- that is quite significant.

And their pitching is youngish too - Gasser, Rodriguez, Henderson, Crow along with Kuener and Drohan as SP options - amazing depth that keeps Hardin, Letson, DeBerry all at AA.

Baseball is so much deeper than the box score. A few things worth mentioning here in the early parts of the game:

  • 46 degrees - so a cold weather game
  • Tyler Black (1B) and Freddy Zamora (2B) robbed 1st inning hits to the joy of Coleman Crow
  • Coleman Crow struck out the 3rd hitter but no love from the umpire. Instead, a BB. He blew away the next guy, so no harm, but I'd argue he had two K's, no BB's, and recorded 4 outs in that inning

Definitely was not close to a strikeout

Sounds knotted it at 2-2 via a Jett Williams line drive single to CF in the top of the 5th. They head to the 6th.

Kind of funny that with all the prospect love for the Nashville lineup that it's been the bottom of the order more AAAA depth guys that have been the best hitters through 1+ game.

Nashville gets the ghost runner home but Williams and Pratt strand the bases loaded ugh. Then old  friend who has returned RP Peter Strzelecki gives up the tie run, and then old friend Weston Wilson wins the game. Two close losses with blown leads by the bullpen, and yes so far littel production from the young prospects on the offense side of the ledger.  Young season.

RHP Coleman Crow (3.24 ERA in 50 AA/AAA IP last year) and AAA Nashville were seeking to even their series 1-1 at Norfolk. This was C Ramon Rodriguez’s first game since a May 2025 injury and first game in AAA since 2023.

(I’ve been in transit, so couldn’t post this earlier)
