I'm sorry but a 5 year old could have anticipated Pittsburgh pinch hitting Ozuna for Lowe in that spot. If our manager couldn't see that coming it's a huge red flag. The point is you cannot keep using Zerpa in leverage spots when he's incapable of getting RHH out. He either needs to be in a low to mid leverage LOOGY type role or he needs to be in AAA.

He's an absolute disaster right now and is costing us games. Has giving up a run or allowed an inherited runner to score in 7 of his 9 outings in April.

Yeah, I suspect they would usually/always hit for Lowe there. The other options were Hall, or Megill facing four LHH in a row. I don't disagree with you, I just don't like A, B, OR C.

I think the big mistake was using Uribe in the 9th inning against 7-8-9 in the order. Burning him there left you with no ideal pitcher against the top of the order in the 10th. Could have sent Ashby out for another inning or used Anderson/Megill in the 9th to avoid that situation. Using Uribe there was the type of rigid bullpen use I thought we were getting rid of.

I can get on board with that. And Megill was up previously, too.

Black hitting cleanup?

I'm starting to get tired of Murphy's impulsive, panicky new ideas.  Also, Greg Jones is not MLB ready.

I agree that you may as well swap Jones out for Lara at this point and see if you can get a spark. It may be harsh, but when you’re the 25th or 26th man on the roster and only got up because of injuries, you either show something fast or get ready to pack your bags.

I have a challenge for posters who regularly criticize the manager either in general or for specific moves he did or didn't make.

If you're on the game thread and see something you disagree with, point it out. If you think a pitcher should be removed, say so and say who you would bring in. If a pitching change is made, and you think a different pitcher should have been brought in, tell everyone at the time that you think the manager made a mistake. Same for things like the everyday batting order, pinch hitting, bunting or not bunting,, or anything  else.

That kind of discussion could make the game thread more interesting. But bringing things up only after the result is known comes across like classic second guessing.

Bring up Lara and play him every day.

There is no reason we have o suffer through Perkins and/or Jones any longer.

Outfield should be Frelick(do we have a choice), Mitchell, and Lara and be done with it.

I don't even believe that Frelick and Mitchell should be guaranteed at bats at this point...

Perkins, Jones and Lockridge shouldn't be in the conversation if it means taking at bats from a guy like Lara, bring him up, play him every day until we know what we have.

I mean, we have to do something, right?

And you really can't be a defensive liability on this team right now unless you add significant power.  If it was just his bat, particularly after a couple of hard hit outs last night, that's fine.  But he had a couple of mental errors in LF, made bad throws and then bobbled a ball in extra innings.  He needs to go down in my opinion.
