It goes both ways. Playoff baseball doesn't have to be a referendum on a franchise either. We're allowed to evaluate seasons without focusing entirely on the World Series.

We’re really criticizing him for this? It took a perfect hop for Taylor off the wall and a good throw is going to gun him down. It would have been iffy. And he ended up scoring anyway, which he wouldn’t have done if he gets thrown out.

Everything is hit on the ground so hitting it hard isn't really bad luck.  If he actually hits the ball with more launch angle then yes that would be fine.  But Yelich just can't consistently hit with an actual useful launch angle.  Which means he is going to hit a bunch of screamers to the SS or 2B on the ground.  

With a competent or average defense he is going to be out at a much higher rate.  Exit velocity is great but you have to combine with a decent launch angle.  Yelich has never been a good launch angle hitter.  It was working for him when he had elite bat speed and he could get to the balls up.  But now pitchers are just pitching him down in the zone and that low launch angle swing he has means he is just going to hit it on the ground.  Nothing will change with Yelich unless he starts getting more launch angle on his swing.  That low strike zone is basically his downfall right now as he can't lift pitches in the bottom third of the strike zone consistently.  He can consistently hit them but they are on the ground to an infielder.
