LHP JD Thompson (3.49 ERA with 56 Ks over last 38.2 IP) and AA Biloxi are back home for potential series-clinching Game 2 of their best-of-3 Southern League semifinal playoff series against Pensacola.

The Shuckers trot out the same starting lineup as their victory in Game 1, in which RF Damon Keith led the way (2-for-4, HR, double, walk, 2 RBIs).

AAA Nashville have 4 games remaining in 2026 and look to grab a 2-1 home series lead over Memphis behind LHP Tate Kuehner (4 IP, 1 R, 6 Ks last week). CF Brandon Lockridge has a 6-game hitting streak with a double in each of his last 3 contests.

Mike Boeve walked and now Braylon Payne gets in on the act with a 2-run homer.

6-0 Biloxi as they head to the third inning.

I’m really liking the late-season pitching of the 3 Biloxi postseason starters. Letson-Thompson-Knoth are finishing the year strong and giving me a lot of confidence we have ourselves a nice group of upper-minors SP heading into next season.

Sure looked like Fischer got robbed of an RBI double in the 7th, as the first base ump called his line drive rope down the RF line a foul ball. He fouled off a bunch of pitches after that, worked the count full, and was called out on strikes on a breaking ball inside off the plate. Really tough break AB.

Wood is a little older but can he stick at catcher? Could certainly use another catcher in the next year or two and he sure had a power spike this year to go along with the on base that has always been there. Rule 5 guy.

from what I watched (mostly in 2024-2025) he is absolutely a catcher.  His offense and age limited his ceiling, but I still see him as the most likely to be a back up or at worst 3rd catcher on a good MLB club. I think his floor is Payton Henry, but ceiling could be a Manny Pina, not truly in terms of talent/strengths/etc but in terms of a AAAA #3 catcher to a solid back up and occasional starter as the range.
