Intentional Grounding Call:

Reporter: On the Jordan Love intentional grounding, why was Tucker Kraft not considered the intended receiver on that one?

Moore: “So we ruled that although the quarterback was outside of the tackle box, the pass did not make it to the line of scrimmage. So, that's where the intentional grounding came in.”

Question: “So it doesn't matter if Kraft was the intended receiver or not, the ball has to get to the line of scrimmage?”

Moore: “Either to the line of scrimmage or into the area where he is. It just can't be in the direction, it has to actually reach where he is if it doesn't get to the line of scrimmage.”

Unsportsmanlike Conduct on Wyatt:

Reporter: Did the whistle blow before Wyatt tackled St. Brown?

Moore: “We ruled that the play was over. I can't honestly hear if there was a whistle or not, but the tackler made the tackle, the play was over. Then, there was an additional action, and he basically tackled him again with force after the play was over.”

Wyatt and several players said that no whistle was blown and they were later told that the time in which it took for St. Brown to get up and try to advance the ball could be interpreted as play over.

You know why there was no whistle? Because his knee never hit the ground and he knew it so he tried to get up and run.

"Dustin Pedroia doesn't have the strength or bat speed to hit major-league pitching consistently, and he has no power......He probably has a future as a backup infielder if he can stop rolling over to third base and shortstop." Keith Law, 2006

Ridiculous and unprofessional play in which the crybaby threw a flag only because he got hit. They can all go. I'm ready for AI.

Theres been a consistent problem with the operation the last 3 years. It isn’t always there, but Orzech (who is statistically usually one of the worst long snappers in the league) has always been the common denominator, no matter the kicker.

Smack was perfect in pre season working with Adomitis,

It’s an interesting thought, but I can’t buy in to the fact they gave McManus a $5M guarantee then cut him, burn a draft pick in Smack while really Orzech has been the problem the whole time.

I would not put it past Packer management.

As a Brewer fan, the difference in the quality of management at every level of the organization between the Packers and Brewers is night and day.

The Brewers front office seems quietly exceptionally good at their jobs while the Packers front office seems arrogantly bad at it. Polar opposites.

Would you give one of your employees a million dollars just to keep him, fire him a month later after giving him the million dollars before he even starts on his next job, hire his replacement, and then watch his replacement do a much worse job? Sound like an efficiently run company?

Well, Brian Gutekunst did that exact thing just this year.

I did not watch yesterday’s game, but seeing some of the stories and reports afterward remind me why I hardly ever watch NFL football anymore

The games are so often bogged down, and in some cases decided,  by incompetent and inconsistent officiating.

Throw in the incompetence of the Packers under LaFleur and I decline to spend time and emotional energy on them. If I put a game on TV, it’s purely for background while I do something else.

Note: If I raise something as a POSSIBILITY that does not mean that I EXPECT it to happen.

The game is just incredibly boring. I've missed a lot of the Packers games over the last few seasons, maybe sat down to watch 50%. This year I've seen the ones at night, and either missed the daytime games, or kind of check in for a series between other things. When I am watching, I find myself phone diddling or whatever because I'm honestly just bored. So much stopping and starting, so much interruption. Sunday just culturally belongs to the NFL and always will, but good lord is the product bad, and while nobody wants to admit it, all of that began with replay being reinstated. Every cathartic play is met with hesitation to make sure NY agrees. Make sure his cleat didn't brush the white, make sure he maintained control. That and "protecting QBs". It completely sucks to watch.

Roughing the passer was called like that today because the league wants it that way. Terrified of injuries to good QBs and giving their broadcasters games devoid of star QBs, especially as the talent level throughout the league slowly but surely begins to thin out.

Unless that QB is Jordan Love apparently.

By the way, everyone wants to clown on Campbell for that 4th down decision just because it isn’t conventional, but he knew with complete certainty that even if it fails, he’s getting the ball back with a chance again.

If he punts, there’s a good chance that the Packers drain the clock and the Lions never see the football again.

There’s more to the strategy than Campbell is just a big overly aggressive idiot.

If the NFL is ok with all the NY replay reviews and questionable/inconsistent at best rule interpretations related to roughing penalties/pass interference/etc that delay these games having only an hour of actual game clock (most of it running) taking 3.5-4 hours of actual time to complete, they've got to make these personal foul/roughing calls reviewable plays for teams to not only challenge, but also give NY/replay official the chance to quickly overturn a botched penalty flag - and call down to administer a missed roughing call that was egregious.  Watching Packer games and seeing replays of terrible roughing calls on their defense then having Love get helmet to helmet contact or other much more questionable roughing calls not flagged makes for zero enjoyment and entertainment.

To improve the quality of football played on the field, the NFL needs fewer rules/points of emphasis.  It honestly feels like it's reached the point of a bloated bureaucracy, with the rule administrators (officials) overwhelmed with everything they need to be looking for and they wind up laser-focused on garbage - or worse realize certain calls put a team at a disadvantage and then actively seek out penalties to call on the other team to try and "balance" it out.

Agreed, but he's still a big overly aggressive idiot - I personally think some of that came from Gibbs getting a terrible spot on that 2nd down run where the refs marked him short and he just got annoyed they didn't already get the first down.

No I think this is spot-on. The Packers looked like they tried milking clock anyway on that drive, hoping to get positive plays out of the run and hoping they would get a touchdown on at least two sets of downs rather than just draw up their best plays to score. If he punts, they likely milk it all off if they're able to move the ball at all. They guaranteed themselves another possession by playing it how they did.
