The new Alumni Thread covers each organization, for both Major and Minor Leagues. Please post any updates within this thread, and let us know about any omissions or errors, thanks.

Simply click on any name to get that player's 2007 numbers.

A few players had no stats listed as of yet, likely on injured or inactive lists to begin the season.

We hope to add links for all the independent leaguers once those seasons begin in May and June.

Wes Obermueller released by the Braves -- still a free agent as of this time -- could his career really be over?

Kevin Orie released by the Astros, not playing elsewhere.

The first of the independent leagues to begin play is the Atlantic League -- I'll be updating those names this evening.

LHP Ryan Costello the most prominent "new" name among recently released Brewers...

Has anyone heard anything at all about Luis Martinez?

Did Jeff Bennett, Ben Grieve, and Chris Magruder really fail to land any type of job this spring?

Helms hit his 1st Marlin HR last night in a rare start at 1B, but he's continuing his last Brewer successes with a .971 OPS in a PH role so far this year.

Incredible start to Ty Taubenheim's Blue Jay career -- good for the kid:

On one hand, maybe it wasn't such a bad thing for Syracuse SkyChiefs pitcher Ty Taubenheim that Thursday night's game against the Pawtucket Red Sox was suspended because of rain in the bottom of the third inning at Alliance Bank Stadium.

Through three innings, Taubenheim had surrendered four hits and two walks, and only center fielder Wayne Lydon's throw that nailed Jeff Bailey at the plate for the second out of the second inning prevented Pawtucket from scoring a run.

"I was battling the whole day against myself more than anything," Taubenheim said. "I just couldn't get in a rhythm."

But on the other hand, Taubenheim would have liked a chance to work through his struggles.

"I wanted to pinpoint it and beat it until I came through," he said.

Taubenheim, one of the SkyChiefs' most pleasant surprises this season, will now have to wait until his next scheduled start Tuesday at Pawtucket. Counting Thursday's three innings, Taubenheim is 2-2 and ranks among the International League leaders with a 1.35 earned run average in 33.1 innings.

In December, the Blue Jays acquired first baseman Lyle Overbay and Taubenheim from the Milwaukee Brewers for former SkyChiefs David Bush, Gabe Gross and Zach Jackson. Although he had appeared in only 11 games above Single-A before this season, Taubenheim made the SkyChiefs' AAA opening-day roster after a strong spring training.

Taubenheim was named the Blue Jays' minor league pitcher of the month for April in his first month with the organization.

If my work schedule had allowed, I was hoping to attend tonight's Syracuse - Pawtucket doubleheader, in order to see Ty Taubenheim start, and also meet up with Craig Breslow and Tim Bausher of the PawSox.

Taubenheim was pulled after three scoreless innings tonight, and speculation is rampant he'll be replacing struggling Josh Towers in the Blue Jay rotation.

Amazing -- and congrats to Ty if so!

Who would have thought he'd be in the bigs before Zach Jackson?

Hardly a throw-in was Ty, as it turns out....

Thanks to Huntsville's David Wesier for the following:

Brandon Gemoll, who was ready to play for the Coastal Bend Aviators of the independent American Association, has been signed by the Philadelphia Phillies and has been assigned to Class AA-Reading (East.). With Jim Rushford as a teammate, he went 0-for-4, Wednesday in the Phillies' 4-2 loss to New Hampshire. Gemoll made an error on a missed catch in the game, which the Fisher Cats did not capitalize on. He is 2-for-10 for Reading so far. Good luck to Brandon who deserves a shot with the Phillies' organization.

Besides Taubenheim being scheduled to pitch for Toronto, Travis Smith is expected to be promoted to Atlanta to start against Arizona tonight.

Made 30 or so updates in the Alumni post tonight, added two independent leagues that have begun play, added Enrique Cruz to the Texas section, and Junior Spivey still struggling...

It was short-lived for Travis Smith, made the one start, wasn't all that bad, but DFA the next day.

28-year-old RHP Saul Rivera made his major league debut in the Nationals' bullpen last night.

Rivera posted a 1.62 ERA (avergae secondary numbers) in 26 relief appearances for Huntsville in 2004 after his acquisition from Washington (along with outfielder Peter Bergeron) for RHP Jason Childers and C/OF Jason Belcher. Eligible for minor league free agency at the end of 2004, he chose to re-sign with the Nationals' organization.

At the time of the trade, Baseball America noted:

Rivera originally signed with the Twins as a 1998 ninth-round pick out of the University of Mobile (Ala.). He went to the Mets on waivers in November 2001, then to Montreal in the Scott Strickland/Bruce Chen trade in April 2002. For a little guy (5-foot-11, 165 pounds), Rivera throws exceptionally hard (low-90s fastball), but his secondary pitches and command never have come around consistently.

Anyone heard anything about "Little Unit". I believe the brewers picked him up last year after he had been having injuries with other teams. I'm not positive, but I believe his last name was Anderson. I wasn't able to find anything on him this year in the brewers organization, or maybe i'm just blind.

"Little Unit" AKA Ryan Franklin was with Brevard County last year...has dropped off the radar this year. I couldn't find anything about him for this season. Don't know where he is.
