Another interesting lineup from the mind of Nedley Yost. At least Branyan gets the start vs. the lefty.

No one can call Ned stubborn this time. We all know we haven't seen this combination of players before.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

It's amazing what Nedley throws out on the field now a days. Helms, Magruder, Durrington, Bennett......now there's 12 out of the game.....man. Does Ned(http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tired.gif ) even care about winning these days? It surely doesn't seem like it. I don't care if they're battlers. Winning is more important Nedley. Your best hitter should be in there everyday, LHP or not. And Helms? HAHA.....DFA ur boy cause he sucks! I am a total Brewers fan and will be for a long time, but it's stuff like this that really ticks me off. *Sigh*

Here's the post I had on the game thread the other night, with my idea for a line-up vs. LHP:

"I have to admit, I don't mind Helms playing only v. LHP. He does just fine, however, did you see the way the camera went to Yost in the dugout just looking for a smile and to see him mouth the words "I knew you could do it Wes!"? Regardless, I like the platoon, but I would also like to see Branyan play vs. LHP, since he is their best power bat, and play in the OF. I'd also like to see Pods and Jenks sit vs. them since they totally suck against lefties. Here would be my line-up:

1. Clark CF - .278, .384, .361, .745, 1 HR (72 AB)

2. Counsell/Hall (horse-a-piece) SS

- Counsell: .210, .300, .290, .590, 0 HR (62 AB)

- Hall: .219, .237, .356, .593, 2 HR (73 AB)

3. Overbay 1B - .317, .377, .574, .951, 4 HR (101 AB)

4. Branyan RF - Only has 6 AB this year (.333, .375, .833, 1.208, 1 HR), so career stats of .251, .323, .579, .902, 15 HR (171 AB) will be used to justify his inclusion

5. Helms 3B - .308, .379, .385, .764, 0 HR (52 AB). Last year - .314, .425, .581, 1.006, 6 HR (86 AB). The guy undoubtedly deserves a chance, if only against LHP. The only thing that is down sharply for him this year is his SLG - could his knee injury have taken some of his power away (don't get me wrong, I'm not a huge fan)?

6. Ginter (when/if he comes back)/Durrington/Hall 2B

- Ginter: .278, .331, .444, .825, 1 HR (54 AB)

- Durrington: .381, .409, .667, 1.076, 2 HR (21 AB)

- Hall: See two spot

7. Magruder LF - .455, .538, .818, 1.357, 1 HR (11 AB). Career stats: .288, .310, .472, .782, 5 HR (125 AB)

8. Moeller/Bennett C (look away, they're hideous)

- Moeller: .175, .233, .250, .483, 1 HR (40 AB)

- Bennett: .179, .233, .250, .483, 0 HR (28 AB)

9. P

Over these guys:

Podsednik: .227, .315, .381, .697, 3 HR (97 AB)

Jenkins: .211, .283, .377, .661, 5 HR (114 AB)

Team stats against LHP:

.248 AVG, .326 OBP, .402 SLG%, .728 OPS, 25 HR (838 AB)

Team stats against RHP (actually worse, but probably due to sample size):

.253, .324, .383, .707, 74 (3226 AB)

Thoughts?

EDIT: Added some stats and stuff"

I like this line-up myself.

Why? Simply because Helms is in it? I would like to see Overbay in it and Podsednik out, but otherwise it's getting closer to where it should be.

EDIT: And an on-cue walk by Wesley, and a 1B by C-Mag

DURRRO! 1-0 Crew!

EDIT 2: Also, Gary Bennett is hitting .275/.321/.373/.694 post All-Star break, as opposed to your boy Moeller and his stellar .159/.183/.217/.400 line. If he is better than Bennett, the difference is negligible. They both suck!

Simply put, this lineup is full of scrubs who are lucky to be starting games. Bennett, Magruder and Durrington are nothing better than career backups/utility players who are better served being out of baseball or in the minor leagues. It perplexes me how Ned puts guys like this out on the Diamond each day...they're going to lose today with this lineup. I can feel it.

"Bennett is nothing more than a career back-up"

What, and Cha-Mo is the second coming of Johnny Bench? They're both career back-ups.

Jim Powell is telling us that Enrique Cruz has a 25 game hitting streak.

That’s the only thing Chicago’s good for: to tell people where Wisconsin is.

How about the excuse that his OPS is 300+ pts. higher since the break than Moeller's? Yost should play the hot hand, and it's Bennett right now.

That's true but I look for Moeller to turn it up, his homer (and even along with Bennett's) is always a nice surprise. Hopefully we see more offensive production from both.

I'm with you there, I just hope Ned plays whoever is swinging the better bat. Moeller was for quite a while earlier in the year, now "The Glove" seems to be picking it up a bit.

Even though I don't like Bennett, I'll agree. I was surprised he doubled in the 9th last night and surprised he just homered.

Gary Bennett catches Victor Santos and the fifth starter. Chad Moeller catches Ben Sheets, Doug Davis, and Chris Capuano. That's just the way it is. I don't think there's any reason to expect Nedley to deviate from the 60/40 split that he's been using all season.

It's nice to see Bennett getting "hot", but his post-All-Star Break OPS coming into the game was 694, not exactly something to be proud of.

If I were Gary Bennet, I'd be proud of a .694 OPS http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/eek.gif

Seriously, if we had a catching combo that had a combined .690-ish OPS, I'd be happy as hell.

Yeah, I posted this earlier, but .694 is still better than Moeller's OPS of .400 - now that is definitely NOT something to be proud of.

And 75-25 at times. But come on, has Moeller been good enough to deserve that extra day of playing time a week?

Also, in 2002 I think we had 4 or 5 catchers (Casanova, Machado, Bako, ???), and in 2003 and 2004 we've had no injuries with catchers....coincidence?
