Leave it to Ned to wait until Lyle's in a pretty prolonged slump at the plate before he moves him to the 3 spot in the order.

At this rate, Lyle's going to be below .300 in 2 weeks.

geez Jenkins sure is sucking. Two absolutely terrible plays in left (why dive when you're gonna miss it by 15 feet?), another terrible night at the plate. It's to the point where an injury wouldn't be so bad for the team (not that I'm asking for an injury)

Wow, Grieve looks really, really bad out there. Has he had any hits during his recent pinch hitting appearances? Seems like everytime he strikes out...

If Ben Grieve's knee injury is severe enough that it is limiting his ability to play, he should just go on the DL. That was only his sixth plate appearance in the last eight games, all as a pinch-hitter. He struck-out five of those times and walked the other.

Infrequent play + injury = ineffectiveness

Which Sheets do we believe we will have in '05. The Sheets of the first half that was putting up numbers of a 1 Ace or

Sheets of the 2nd half. Hits as many innings pitch with the balls flying out of the yard. Proving he isn't more than a 2 pitch pitcher.

I still think Sheets will not be the Ace we all hope for. Sooner or later 1 starters find a way to win no matter how many runs the offense scores.

Well Bill, our management has definately already set a precedent for leaving guys on the 25 man who can't really play. THey've been doing it all year long. I don't think Doug really knows what the DL is for.

(OK, joking aside, it's getting old watching the team try to play with a 23 man roster, because Melvin won't DL these guys)

Here's something to think about... why is Billy Hall batting second when Brady Clark is also in the lineup? It's obvious that Nedley prefers having a right-hander hitter in the second spot, but Brady Clark also happens to hit right-handed. Consider this:

Billy Hall's last walk came on July 29th. His last walk before that was on July 19th. In total, he has walked only 11 times this season in 294 plate appearances. His month-by-month totals are terrible: 1 BB in 31 AB in April, 3 in 57 in May, 3 in 56 in June, 4 in 75 in July, and 0 in 62 so far in August.

Billy has certainly been hitting the ball well this month... his average coming in was .323 and he was slugging an even .500. But he makes a ginormous number of outs and he strikes-out quite a bit, something that Nedley has publicly said he does not like out of his #2 batter.

It just doesn't make any sense at all. Brady Clark has no power but excellent discipline and Billy Hall has no discipline but excellent power. So which one do you choose to bat second and which to bat sixth?

Bothered,

~Bill

Yeah, but he strikes out too much, and with all the free swingers we have, Branyan is not an asset to this team, because no one is ever on base for him, and he strikes out too much and our team OBP is too low and he strikes out too much. Did I mention that Branyan strikes out too much?!?!?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! What a frickin hoot!
