Not wanting to cloud up the "greatest band" thread with this news about another bad I considered for greatest, I saw this posted about the spring leg of their tour:

April 7, Bradley Center, Milwaukee WI

- Milwaukee, WI @ Bradley Center - Milwaukee, WI @ Bradley Center r. 07 - Milwaukee, WI @ Bradley Center

Saw them at the Arena in the Summer of 81. Never imagined that they would still be touring 27 years later! I won't hold my breath though. April is a long ways away. Still plenty of time for DLR and the Van Halen boys to get into a tour ending fued.

I saw one of the Chicago shows in October.. it was a great show and well worth the money (mind you, I was sitting in the nosebleed seats... I may not have had the same opinion had I been sitting in the lower bowl). The music sounded fantastic (except "Hot for Teacher" was very bad both musically and vocally for some reason). DLR's vocal range is limited, and he doesn't seem to remember all the words any more (even noting during "Dance the Night Away", "I forgot the words!") but to see those guys together again is fantastic.

When are tickets going on sale? anyone know?

On the VH and Bradley Center websites, this show isn't even listed yet. On Pollstar.com it's listed as a show announced in the past 72 hours, so I'm sure details are forthcoming.

I was thinking the same thing, RyDogg, Roth sounds horrible.

I love Van Halen, and I may go to that show, but hearing that actually made me stop to reconsider.

ummmmmmm, without Michael Anthony, this is STILL not truely Van Halen...

sorry to rain on your parade...

I've heard nothing but awesome reviews about this tour. Concert recording by concert goers in large arenas almost always sound terrible.

If you watched that first video, it was clear it wasnt the quality of the tape, but the quality of the performance. Roth is washed up.

Yeah, but isnt it Eddie's kid? So maybe that makes ut MORE Van Halen.

Roth is washed up.

But I'd still take "washed up Roth" over anybody else out there touring. He may have his moments, but he's still one of the ultimate frontmen and kicks the crap out of most of the garbage that passes as music these days.

Roth was the best part of Van Halen during their prime IMO. Once he got booted and they put in Sammy Hagar, i couldn't listen to any of that crap they put out. It would have been like Aerosmith booting Steven Tyler and inserting something terrible like Steven Perry of Journey in Tyler's place and still calling themselves Aerosmith.

I'd consider paying decent money to see Van Halen now if Roth is even half way decent, i wouldn't go to a Hagar lead Van Halen show even if i was given free front row tickets.

I know it's just something someone recorded on a camcorder or something, but that clip with DLR singing "Jump" didn't really impress me at all. I didn't think they sounded that tight, and it's clear Roth doesn't have the range he used to (as mentioned elsewhere).

Also, I know he's a Van Halen, but I wouldn't be anxious to see a 16 year old playing bass with a major rock band. Michael Anthony is awesome.

Van Halen without Michael Anthony is not Van Halen imo...

I agree, Anthony is missed especially for his backing vocals.

I'm not sure if I'm going or not, but I have been asked by a friend (who has to work on Sat.) to try and score him some tickets. I think I'll wait until a later date and tap some connections if I want to go.

I'll tell you what, I know one reason Van Halen has reunited for a tour: $$$.

A friend of mine got two seats today at a ripe old sum of $123 each! Yeah, I could find a way to patch up my differences if I was cleaning up like that every night.
