Broxton was completely untouchable last offseason, but is suddenly being shopped this offseason.


Is he really, or do people keep speculating that he's a guy other teams would want in a deal? Saito's been awesome, but given his age, if I were the Dodgers, I wouldn't let Broxton out of town.

The headline on that rumors site tonight is "Pierre Drawing Interest." Anyone else see that and start praying that Pierre wasn't the reason Melvin is supposedly in contact with the Dodgers?

My guess is Melvin just asked him what Broxton would cost, they told him, and he called Riske.

Jon Broxton was the best reliever in baseball last season in terms of xFIP. Second best was Saito, crazy. Spread the wealth!

 

Padres' Heath Bell was number three - I'd love to grab him out of their deep bullpen.

 

Francisco Cordero was number four.

I think it'd be worse since Pierre's contract is much larger than Roberts. Not that I'd want Roberts but at least he comes off the books in two years and makes about $5 million.

If we are going to give up a Villanueva or a Parra, we need to get a quality outfielder for them.
