  1. I never thought I'd be happy to see Suppan out of the game when he's not a Brewer.
  2. That a boy, Corey. Nice hearing Ueck call a homerun again.
  3. I think the contracts they sign the FA's to will be so team-unfriendly that they'll have a hard time unloading to rebuild. Depending on the numbers on the Buerhle deal, it might look really bad in year two or three, say nothing of year four. If they sign Pujols to a $200 million contract, there's only one or two teams that could take that money on. Marlins are really making some gambles this offseason. It's so out of character for them, new stadium and all.
  4. That was the worst defensive game I have ever seen by a MLB team.
  5. He said something to Bob Davidson when I was at a Brewer game in June for the beanball that wasn't to be. That little conversation got RR ejected along with Sveum.
  6. I'm in Great Falls. Whitefish is really nice!
  7. They're showing the Yankees here in Montana, which makes me happy because I only get to see the Yankees two times per week on ESPN. I missed them already, I need a fix.
  8. Give pitchers time to find holes in Lawrie's swing. If he's as good as advertised he will make adjustments. We see a lot of rookies have good weeks, months, or seasons and then trail off a bit. Pitchers are dang good, they'll find a way to get him out. If Lawrie makes good adjustments and finds ways to keep getting his extra base hits, then I will start to miss him.
  9. Better payback would have been for the Brewers to actually score that inning and win that game. That would have been classic to know that Tony cost his team the game because he wanted to play tough-guy from the comfort of the dugout.
  10. Doug Melvin should start fining players for swinging at the first pitch and weakly grounding out or popping up. I don't mind swinging at the first pitch, but that should be only if you get a fastball belt high that cuts the plate in half. I've been noticing it more since the Yankee series. A lot of weak swings and grounders on bad first pitches. This post is only half serious. But good grief, some of these guys could stand to take a pitch or two.
  11. Anyone else think McGehee is starting to snap out of it? He's starting to hit the ball a little harder, and with a bit more confidence. Not sure if Counsell will have enough energy tonight after all that running around he did last night.
  12. Nice post, TLB. Rickie is probably my favorite Brewer to watch hit because, like you said, he hits the ball so hard when he makes contract. It has been nice to see him progress and get better, but more importantly it's nice to see him stay healthy because he is such an asset. I still think he can get better, but I'm definitely happy with how far he's come.
  13. It's easier for kids in the inner city to play basketball than it is to play baseball. Basketball can be played anywhere, and even if you can't get guys together to play a game you can always shoot around and work on your game. It's pretty hard (basically impossible) to play baseball with only one person, unless you want to go to a batting cage all day.
  14. Almost every time I hear Ueck call a Brewers homerun I get goosebumps. I love how excited he gets. The Braun homerun in 2008 is probably my favorite Uecker moment.
  15. P90X is just a fad workout.. eventually it'll go the way of Tae Bo and 8-minute abs. It's probably a great workout if you eat right, and do everything the video instructs you to do. Unfortunately, a lot of people use it who are really too far out of shape for the program to really work. For some reason it's immensely popular, yet the people who claim they do it still have quite a bit of flab. To each their own I guess. I've found the best results with running and cardio and good old fashioned weight lifting. As to the original question, I rarely do pull ups to muscle failure. I do three sets of 8, the last set is a bit rough but I get it done. I don't know how many chin ups I could do, those are a LOT easier.
  16. Dude, I have to keep reminding myself that the Brewers made those trades this winter. Lost with all the excitement of the Packers playoff run is my giddiness of the Brewers upcoming season.. spring training is just a few weeks away.
  17. Not at all surprised by this. Welcome back, Craig.
  18. That would be one huge extension, money wise, I would think. To have Greinke and Gallardo locked up would be HUGE.
  19. As a Brewer fan, obviously I'm very happy to land a pitcher of Greinke's talent. A few of my thoughts: Of the players going to KC, I'm most disappointed to lose Cain and Odorizzi. I know Jake is still a few years away from the Brewers, and chances are that he could get hurt and never quite develop. That being said, he was still an exciting prospect to follow. Losing Cain hurts because I think he would have been a decent OBP guy and filled a hole in CF that the Brewers may now have to fill with Dickerson/Gomez. I'm not too thrilled about that. Will the Brewers work on an extension with Greinke? If not, he'll surely be a Type A at the end of 2012 thus netting the Brewers some picks. That helps to replenish the system a bit. I'm curious as to see what they'll do about SS. Will Betancourt be the guy? I've not read glowing reports on the guy. Overall, the Brewers needed to address their starting pitching. It's definitely safe to say that they did that.
  20. That's exactly what I was thinking about, too. McClung needs to grow out a mullet.
  21. Wow. I'm really blown away by some of these stories, but this one is the best so far IMO.
  22. The Brewers always seem to mash Zach Duke, here's to hoping they can continue that. I'm happy to see Cappy get the start, let's see how much he can give the team.
  23. Do you find them much, these, muggers? Leads, yeah, sure. I'll just check with the boys down at the crime labI wouldn't hold out any hope for the tape deck, though. -Or the Credence..
