  1. I'm sure over the next couple of weeks Ben will put out his top prospect lists with the teams mostly likely to sign, similar to what he did last year. BA's international coverage is excellent. Thanks for sharing that. Definitely sounds like a guy to watch.
  2. Why's that/what do you like about him?
  3. Jeff Hem had was looking forward to this matchup last Friday:
  4. Wow, that was fast! I thought that one might be a bit tricky... guess not. Ok, JoseCardenal1, your turn (if you wish)
  5. Sounds Drop Homestand Opener To Storm Chasers, 10-7 Nashville Sounds http://i.imgur.com/d6Ho0sl.jpg Josh Prince (Mike Strasinger / Nashville Sounds) NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Omaha catcher Brett Hayes belted a pair of home runs to lead the visiting Storm Chasers to a 10-7 victory over the Nashville Sounds on Monday evening at Greer Stadium in the opener of a four-game series. Hayes' outburst marked his third two-homer game against the Sounds this season. The backstop has hit all six of his homers versus Nashville, batting .500 (11-for-22) against them on the year. Nashville (21-41) out-hit Omaha, 11-8, on the night, but Sounds pitchers issued nine walks in the contest. The Sounds grabbed a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning against rehabbing Omaha starter Danny Duffy, who made his first Triple-A appearance during his return from Tommy John surgery. Hainley Statia led off with a single and Khris Davis drew a one-out walk before both Statia scored on a Hunter Morris RBI double to right that gave Nashville a 1-0 advantage. Josh Prince followed with a two-run single to center that made it a 3-0 contest. Omaha cut the lead to 3-2 in the second with a pair of home runs off Sounds starter R.J. Seidel. Anthony Seratelli led off with a towering drive to right that landed on Chestnut Street for his sixth big fly of the year. Later in the frame, Hayes drilled a two-out solo homer to left. The offenses took over in the third as both teams batted around in the frame to account for 10 runs with neither starting pitcher surviving the inning. The Storm Chasers jumped in front by an 8-3 margin with a six-spot against Seidel, sending 11 batters to the plate. Jarrod Dyson (3-for-3) led off with a double to right, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored the tying run on a throwing error by catcher Anderson De La Rosa. Christian Colon and Johnny Giovatella drew back-to-back walks from Seidel then executed a double steal to put a pair of runners into scoring position for Xavier Nady, who delivered a go-ahead RBI single to center. Max Ramirez pushed the visitors' lead to two with a sacrifice fly before Hayes connected for his second homer of the night, a three-run shot to left-center. Seidel (1-3) was tagged with the loss after surrendering eight runs on six hits over his 2 2/3 innings. He had allowed only 11 total runs in his first six Triple-A outings. Nashville pulled back within a run at 8-7 with four scores against Duffy in the home half of the third as the offensive show continued. A Prince RBI double, run-scoring singles from Sean Halton and De La Rosa, and an Ozzie Chavez RBI groundout accounted for the runs as the Sounds batted around in the frame. Omaha extended its lead to 10-7 in the sixth when Nady drew a bases-loaded walk from Dillard and Ramirez lifted his second sac fly of the night later in the frame. The Sounds had a chance to cut into the lead in the bottom of the frame, loading the bases with one out, but Prince lined into an inning-ending double play. Donnie Joseph (2-3) picked up the win by hurling 2 2/3 innings of hitless relief for the Storm Chasers. The teams continue the series with another 7:05 p.m. meeting on Tuesday night. It will be a pair of hard-throwing right-handers matched up on the hill as Johnny Hellweg (5-4, 3.25) will start for the Sounds to oppose Omaha's Yordano Ventura (0-0, 1.80). Nashville Box The Storm Chasers ran rampant on the basepaths in this one -- 7/7 in SB attempts. Ouch. Statia: 2-4, BB, SB Caleb Gindl: 2-5, 2B Kh. 7. OPS up north of .800 over his past 17 games. Hopefully we see a lot more of 'Good Rickie' & a lot less of 'The Ballplayer That I Can't Bring Myself To Accept That He Actually Is Rickie' the rest of the way.
  8. It's not out west, but we have a good old PCL slugfest on our hands tonight. The Sounds trail Omaha 8-7 in the 6th. And Jed Bradley (who turns 23 in a couple days)... that's three in a row... keep it rollin', young man.
  9. Preach on, Brother Maul. Now about that Coulter kid...
  10. Post #135 (page 7) of the original '13 Transactions Thread. Per Mass Haas in the final post in that thread, "We'll close this unwieldingly-long thread as of tonight's draft and kick off a new post-draft 2013 transaction thread." -- just wanted to explain why that thread was locked & this one was created.
  11. Here is my "we need to get signed high schooler" of this years draft. Could take some work but seems like he has some potential to be a big time bat. Size and power reminds me of a Jason Rogers but with more upside. I agree. Just watching how easy his swing was on that 515' shot got me excited about this kid. Forget Jason Rogers, this kid is already (at 17!) closer to the size of Ryan Howard.
  12. I get the impression that the org. isn't that concerned with Gennett's service time. And with his profile as a player, I'm not surprised.
  13. Rickie Weeks has been lost at the plate all year & he's still playing pretty much every day. I think the Brewers' reluctance to call up Morris is twofold: 1) He's not on the 40-man, & 2) They view him as the first baseman post-2013 & don't want to burn service time. I don't think they are convinced he's the 1b post-2013. After his hot May, he's hitting .158 in June. His one plus tool is his power, but they are undoubtedly looking for more consistency before they go all in with him. Whether they are convinced or not, they're certainly not going to use something like the 8 games he's played so far this month to sway that opinion one way or the other. Organizations don't really pay much attention to samples that small, and even so the scouting side would be what they'd watch -- you can perform well at the plate, mechanically, and still have a crummy AVG/OPS over such a tiny sample. I think the main reason he hasn't been up this year is that he's not on the 40-man.
  14. Ding ding ding Welcome to the board, joeC! For your first post being the one that correctly guessed this, you win... nothing. Welcome to the gilded halls of BF.net. Next up!
  15. We just need to start the Nottso Stories Thread. This stuff is awesome.
  16. I've seen this problem periodically over the past month+. Most recently popped up for me in the Hunter Morris thread in the MLB forum: viewtopic.php?f=63&t=29953 My post appears (for me) as the last post on page 1 & the first post on page 2.

  18. What a reveal... Thank you for keeping us updated all throughout this season on how Tyler was progressing, splitter. Good stuff.
  19. I didn't notice until checking his player page tonight, but he actually posted an .809 OPS for May. .326/.414/.395/.809 ... not a bad month #2 for an 18-yo in the Midwest League.
  20. Morris, Gindl Power Sounds Past Redbirds, 5-3 Nashville Takes Three Of Four In Memphis Nashville Sounds http://i.imgur.com/Mr7r7yv.jpg Caleb Gindl, archive photo (Mike Strasinger / Nashville Sounds) AUDIO: Hunter Morris Game-Tying Two-Run HR AUDIO: Caleb Gindl Go-Ahead Three-Run HR AUDIO: Game-Ending Strikeout -- Sounds Win! MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Hunter Morris and Caleb Gindl each homered to power the Nashville Sounds to a 5-3 victory over the cross-state rival Memphis Redbirds on Sunday afternoon at AutoZone Park. The win gave the Sounds their first winning road series of the season as they took three of four from Memphis. Nashville (21-40) wrapped up its road trip with a 4-4 mark. Left-hander Chris Narveson made his third rehab start for Nashville and took a no-decision after allowing three runs on five hits over 4 1/3 innings. He struck out four and did not walk a batter during his 63-pitch effort. Memphis took a 2-0 lead in the second when Jermaine Curtis connected for a two-run homer to left off Narveson, the infielder's third roundtripper of the year. Jamie Romak also scored on the blast after opening the inning with a single. Morris continued his recent power surge for the Sounds in the third when he swatted a game-tying two-run homer to dead center off Memphis starter Scott McGregor. It was the first baseman's third big fly in his last three at-bats, dating back to last night's victory. Caleb Gindl, who doubled earlier in the frame, also scored on Morris' 13th longball of the season. The Redbirds reclaimed the lead in the bottom of the third when Ryan Jackson and Justin Christian connected for back-to-back one-out doubles off the rehabbing Sounds hurler. Gindl (2-for-5) continued his red-hot road trip in the fifth when he connected for a three-run homer to right off McGregor (1-3), who took the loss, to power the Sounds to a 5-3 lead. The outfielder finished the eight-game swing with a .389 average (14-for-36). Narveson (error) and Hainley Statia (walk) also scored on the bomb. Memphis got the potential tying runs into scoring position against Zach Kroenke in the seventh following a two-out walk followed by a bloop double, but the Nashville left-hander popped up Brock Peterson to escape the jam with the two-run lead intact. Kroenke (3-8) worked three scoreless innings of relief behind the rehabbing Narveson to earn his third victory in his last five outings after beginning the season with six straight losing decisions. Rob Wooten took over on the Nashville hill for the ninth and worked around baserunners on second and third before fanning Peterson looking to close out the victory with a scoreless frame, earning his tenth save of the year. The Sounds begin an eight-game homestand tomorrow evening at Greer Stadium by hosting the division-rival Omaha Storm Chasers (AAA-Royals) in the 7:05 p.m. opener of a four-game series. Right-hander R.J. Seidel (1-2, 2.93) will man the bump for Nashville and face rehabbing Omaha left-hander Danny Duffy (NR). 21. Good point here -- I guess I framed the OP as though the stats I was providing were for a current prospect. To clarify, the guy I've given is a former prospect & current MLB player. Either a current prospect or former prospect is fine to list here... just clarify which type you're listing! (unlike what I did...)
