  1. I finally just settled for that last night. What pisses me off is that ESPN3 literally has almost every other WC qualifier from the past couple of days archived, but not the one that the vast majority of its readership would want to see. And, as far as I can see on my cable TV menu, ESPN will not be replaying the US-CR match. Neat! EDIT: Guess I just needed to wait until today. The full match is now up. Annnd I can't watch it. Awesome. Thank you, ReverendBrewmeister, for linking those highlights. Much more comprehensive than the ESPN package.
  2. That makes sense. Especially since he doesn't have overpowering stuff, as he progresses up the ladder he's not going to get away with throwing too many strikes.
  3. I think it's mostly that he doesn't trust or like playing underclassmen. Dekker's leash was so short this season that it was comical at times -- one TO or ill-advised shot? Evans is jogging to the scorer's table. Dekker did earn a bit more leash as the season progressed, but Ryan just doesn't seem to have the patience for some of the mistakes younger players are prone to making. Marshall would never have seen the floor this season if Gasser hadn't gotten injured, and like you alluded to Jackson would've had like 5-10 min./game. Not saying Marshall is someone that we need on the floor in terms of talent, but he may as well have been redshirted if Gasser were playing.
  4. I missed the match, & haven't been able to find a video of it anywhere. If anyone has a link, it'd be much appreciated.
  5. Absolutely true. I find myself rooting the same way and I have been 100% for a Braun suspension if he did use PEDs. The way MLB is handling this though is like a stalker ex-girlfriend. The more you tighten your grip, Tarkin, the more star systems will slip through your fingers.
  6. For those, like me, who missed the game today -- Twitter photo posts from Mike Vassallo Braun Weeks
  7. With 33 K to 13 BB which are still absolutely great ratios. He gave up a bunch of hits and HR and that points directly towards being fatigued and missing high. Fiers is the 2nd safest pitcher in the rotation imo. His 2nd half FIP and xFIP were still 3.67. It is hard to strike out that many and walk that few and be a bad pitcher and to be honest he had the best minor league stats of any of the newer guys too, it is really unlikely that he collapses. he has the same issue Estrada does though that he might give up too many HR. Do you know of a good place to find pitch locations for entire months of the season? I know FanGraphs has some pitch f/x stuff, but I'd rather not look through each game log.
  8. I'll personally miss Berggren a lot (mainly for his defense), but neither of Bruisewitz or Evans. Especially Evans. Ugh. I feel like Bo is a solid recruiter, excellent teacher/practice coach, and a bad in-game coach. The lack of changing the offensive approach in today's game, when it was clear no jumpers were falling, was maddening. It seemed simple enough to me to start running the offense through Berggren in the post. And his personnel decisions were maddening -- he kept playing Kaminsky when Berggren wasn't in foul trouble, and not surprisingly Kaminsky kept getting outmuscled and/or beaten. They played like crap today, and it's one more early exit for the Bo-led Badgers. 7 of his 12 trips have ended at or before the 2nd round. That's so frustrating.
  9. Ok, did anyone here have Harvard over New Mexico? I sure didn't.
  10. I completely agree on Fiers. He didn't even have everyone fooled anymore once August rolled around. From that point through the end of the regular season (12 of his 23 starts), his ERA was 5.84
  11. WHAT a rally & win from Marquette. Davidson played so well, and had basically no business being a 14 seed.
  12. Braun's defense was so bad, it cut waaaaay into his overall value. Did you even watch him there? Braun is not a third baseman. End of story.
  13. It's astounding to me how many people would be okay with Braun "defending" at 3B. The guy can't play the position, plain & simple. And the fact that some are willing to move Braun to a position where he'd hurt the team incredibly badly to clear a spot for Davis shows just how devoid our farm system is of bats at the moment. I like Davis, fwiw.
  14. I fully agree, but the Reds seem to have a bit of a problem on their hands in that department: "I would like to be a closer, but that's not in my hands"
  15. What makes you compare a bullpen that's going to consist of exactly two returning players to last season's version? Not saying I think the bullpen will be great, just that your method of comparison is bad.
  16. That's a good point. If the Brewers don't think Green is capable of at least matching the ~.700-.750 OPS you get from González, then he probably shouldn't be on the 25-man roster.
  17. Back-to-back Brewers ST games where the HP umpire had to leave due to injury. I wonder if there's been a longer streak than that in ST history Tim McClelland actually calling balls & strikes from behind the mound while the third member of the ump crew is changing into his home plate gear. I've never seen this in MLB.
  18. Take that, small markets!
  19. The other main downside could be for the players themselves (as was alluded to by svuemrules)
  20. Glad to hear (on both)
  21. Lalli only reached AAA last season (age-29), and didn't hit... in the PCL. Green has performed better over his MiLB career, is younger, & covers more positions. I'd rather stick with Green. In what everyone rightfully called a down season for Green at Nashville last year, he still easily outproduced Lalli.
  22. He also managed to call Orlando Arcia "Arias" & "Acias," sandwiched around getting the surname correct once. I love Vin, but he wasn't exactly in top form for this game. He even noted the Dodgers had trained in Florida for 60 years -- from 1948-2005 (graphic on the screen correctly displayed 2008).
  23. We'll take whatever we can get from you! Would you be willing to cover as LR depth when you're able to provide backup?
