  1. Would someone with a good knowledge of pitching mechanics be willing to chime in as to whether or not Marcum's mechanics could be to blame? EDIT: A quick Google search yielded this Brewers Bar piece from 2011. Definitely worth the read, & it seems Marcum's mechanics could very well be to blame for his injury WOAHs.
  2. Well Jungmann was #12 overall (& wasn't the unprotected pick from losing Covey), which for me is close enough to top-10 to be really disappointed in whiffing on the chance to take a high-ceiling player & instead playing it safe.
  3. He means Italy won't last long in the WBC, so Bianchi will be back in camp before too much longer
  4. This is exactly how I feel. As for the other stuff -- All-Stars: Braun, Gallardo, Lucroy Disappointments: Hart, Estrada, Ramírez, Fiers Surprises: Bianchi, Bullpen, Khrush Davis, Green, Schafer World Series: Braves/Nats v. Angels/Rangers Disappointments: I think Hart is going to re-injure himself, and Ramírez will as well (paired with slightly less gaudy offense). Fiers won't be terrible, but will not replicate his '12 numbers; thinking more like a 4.50 ERA. Surprises: In short, I think these younger hitters will get PAs & begin to show what they can do. Schafer's defense alone is going to 'wow' your casual Brewers fan. Kintzler is one guy in particular in the bullpen that could surprise, now that he's healthy again. Overall in the 'pen, there appears to be a good number of guys with big upside. I didn't include Peralta in this category, since success in the bigs wouldn't be that surprising imo.
  5. I think the most likely destination for Lohse at this point is the Cards on a 1-yr. deal. All this "linking" to the Brewers smells like bull poopy to me.
  6. Cowboy Kevin Millar says heeeeerrrrooowww, and for cripes sake they par Eric Byrnes money...to "talk"....or whatever it is that he's doing. Oh lord, yeah. "Got 'eeem" makes me want to do violent things.
  7. I was only responding to the claim that Kaminsky & Dekker are the only bigs for next season, and pointed out that Anderson was even on display for a short while in the last game. Not talking him up or down.
  8. I do agree on your larger point that it's impressive to watch Bo continue to cruise along. However... Next season's incoming class is 5 players (3 guards, 2 forwards). Also, 6'10/255 Evan Anderson (who got some minutes in last night's game) is only a redshirt soph. this season.
  9. Ah, thanks anyway
  10. I never bought FIFA13, just updated the rosters as best I could on 12. Did I miss much?
  11. Mitch Williams is the only reason Harold Reynolds isn't the biggest knucklehead on the MLB Network (& that's saying something).
  12. Every time he plays he shows at least a flash of superstardom. Tonight was obviously no exception. He's such a natural scorer... really a joy to watch. On Evans, he defends & rebounds well, is a good leaper, & decent finisher near the rim. But he's completely lost any semblance of a jumpshot. He'll get streaky & hit a couple, but on balance I'd rather him just never take another jumpshot again.
  13. Wow. Yeah, I wouldn't want to play that multiplayer at all. Am I remembering correctly that Black Ops was good for multiplayer, or was it glitch-filled, too? I sorta liked Black Ops (didn't regret buying it anyway), but I'm really glad I rented Black Ops II first. I got pretty disinterested in the campaign pretty early on. Not into the near-future concept at all.
  14. I liked COD & COD2 as well. And I really am a bit of a dinosaur in that I still buy games to play offline. I actually really enjoyed all three Modern Warfare campaigns overall, as well as World at War (came out either just after or just before MW1). They had their flaws, but I still felt like I got my money's worth. First of all, that scene sounds hilarious. And on RDR, obviously I really like it so far. I just bought the Elegant Suit, so I've been doing nothing in the game but cheating at poker, inevitably getting caught, & then losing in duels. I think I did manage to win one, and I've gotten better at the cheating. I think I'll finish the game eventually, but sandbox games + me = wasting tons of time doing things like going hunting or riding the train around. I love the inanity, and to me the environment is beautiful & fun to explore. Although I'm pretty paranoid about cougars & wolves now.
  15. The Brewers are so thin at SS throughout the minors that I have to think guys like Murphy & Crosby are intended to be short-term fillers more than anything else. I just can't see the org. losing Bianchi, basically for the reasons djoctagone laid out. Bianchi/Green seems to be a pretty nicely-matched pair of backup IFs, being RH/LH & covering all the IF spots between the two of them.
  16. The more time that passes, & the more I think about it, the more I come to the conclusion that Bruce Seid has to go. The damage has already been done; I just hope it doesn't get much worse. The lack of success on the farm isn't exclusively his fault, but he's atop the chain of command.
  17. Divisional foes, for comparison CHC: 18, 20, 36, 54 CIN: 14, 78, 91 PIT: 3, 11, 44, 53, 66 STL: 2, 16, 43, 45, 56, 90, 94 Jake Odorizzi is #83. Billy Hamilton is almost comically overrated imo in this list; 14th-best prospect in the entire league? Come on.
  18. MOH: Frontline was my first exposure to the series. The D-Day intro & mission blew my mind at the time. Can anyone advise on whether or not picking up the '10 limited edition MOH would be worth it, just for the remastered MOH:Frontline? I played the original Frontline game a lot, & it'd be fun to see on the PS3. I ask because I've seen pretty bad reviews for just the '10 version of MOH. Also, I finally picked up Red Dead Redemption (got the GOTY edition, with the nice extras). I'm in love with this game right now.
  19. That's when you know you've finally made it big!
  20. I don't think you can say players from country X are all the same. I hope Aoki has similar longevity, but Ichiro had a lot further to fall, talent-wise, than Aoki does (& I don't mean to say Aoki's not a good player).
  21. While I agree with your sentiment, I believe the only opinions we should really be worried about are Doug's and Mark's. Very true. Mark, step away from the sharp object. Doug -- Doug, stop him.
  22. John Axford, Oscars savant
  23. The amount of people willing to lose a first round pick for Kyle Lohse's age 34+ seasons is both shocking & disturbing. Beyond the fact that he's simply pitched over his head the past two seasons, he's a flyball finesse pitcher who'd be going from a very favorable home park to the HR launching pad of Miller Park. This would be an awful signing, especially when you factor in the money.
  24. You can get discounted Broadway tickets, but be forewarned that the lines (at least in Times Square, I haven't seen the other two booths) tend to be very long. http://www.tdf.org/TDF_ServicePage.aspx?id=56 The Circle Line boat tour was pretty cool imo -- we did the semi-circle cruise. Great chance for photos, & a cool way to see Manhattan.
  25. I don't remember when exactly this was, but I recall a game at County Stadium when I was a kid where Vaughn launched one out over the LF bleachers. I didn't know about Deer doing it, too, but I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
