  1. We can agree to disagree..... but to me, Chris Dickerson is the third Mouton. I can't agree to disagree with you that "Chris Dickerson [can't] be the starting CF on a good team". It's not true, whether you like him or not.
  2. Is it possible that reporters are just using "PTBNL" in a technically incorrect fashion? As in, the deal hasn't actually been formally completed yet, but will be once the Royals figure out which 4th player to take?
  3. I don't think that Chris Dickerson can be the starting center fielder on a good team. The CF to whom the Rangers gave the most PAs last season posted an OPS+ of 74. The Giants got an OPS+ of 81 from their RFs last season.
  4. Agreed... best of luck to Lo in KC. We'll be following (& rooting for) him there, for sure.
  5. Probably a bit simpleton-y of me, but I just realized that if a PTBNL can't be from the 40-man roster, that also means Rogers & Gamel are 'safe'. Not that anyone thought Gamel would move to KC, but I was worried about Rogers for a hot minute. Good ol' Ken... just getting things completely incorrect. But hey, Jake's not a NY or Boston prospect, so it doesn't matter! And fwiw that "medical background" comment makes me wonder if the PTBNL is Kentrail Davis.
  6. Truth be told, you were the person I thought that made me want to type that http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I wonder is Stetter is still capable. I would imagine that, if properly utilized, Stetter could still be effective.
  7. Alright, I guess I can't disagree that SS is a bigger need right now. But you know me, I saw Cam's name & got excited.
  8. Some fun tweets -- Gammons: Jim Fregosi told Royals "when you trade Greinke the one player you'd better get is Cain" Heyman: blogger who had greinke story is jim breen from bernie's crew blog on milwaukee journal sentinel website. crew now a threat Breen: If nothing else, breaking the Greinke trade got @JohnAxford59 to follow me on Twitter. Consider that a success! Wagner: SportsCenter just called to have me on. Wonder if I'll get the cool half-real picture like @Jasonjwilde EDIT: Someone needs to make the obligatory, "Glad to see Melvin making an aggressive, Kenny Williams-type move" comment
  9. Haudricourt's latest tweet: I'm now hearing that Jeffress might not be in Greinke trade. That it might be a player to be named. But still hearing the others reported. Is it insane for me to wish our own beat reporter was the one ahead of the curve on this stuff?
  10. Escobar was an eingma. We have been told how great he will be, but he did disappoint last season, when he hit like Jason Kendall and didn't provide the defense we were told to expect. I do still believe he will be a good player, and hopefully Melvin has a long-term plan to replace him. I think Escobar will be a valuable player, even if his bat never really comes around. I'm a huge believer in his defensive tools, and think that '10 will be the exception & not the rule for the rest of his career. I will really miss him, even if the guy never hits any better than ~.275 or so. It was beginning to appear that Jeffress was going to remain in the bullpen, which made me sick. I don't think the Royals would have agreed to this deal if they didn't still feel JJ could work out as a starter.
  11. I'm certainly not the person that came up with this idea after the Greinke trade, but dagnabbit, I'll be the one to start the thread. His 2011 contract is for $7.25M, and I can't imagine he'd be too expensive to pry away from Boston at this point. I certainly wouldn't count on him being able to make more than maybe 125 starts, but I'd feel quite comfortable about a big-league outfield of Cam/Braun/Hart/Gomez/Dickerson.
  12. Along with Breen & Wagner, TH is reporting Jeffress is in the deal. I'll believe them way before I'll believe Gammons's PTBNL isn't Jeffress. Doug Melvin, just when I thought you couldn't get any lower, you go ahead and do something like this, and totally redeem yourself! Haha! Excellent, X. Could Mike Cameron be had from the Sox? Hasn't he been relegated to a bench role? Some may be shocked, but I'd be all about that move.
  13. I could not possibly agree more with this post. I think this is a great move, if true. I'm not shocked that there hasn't been confirmation of this rumor in the middle of the night. That's not to say I know anything convincing... I'm just not surprised that there's been no definitive answer when most people are sleeping. I'm off to bed (finally) now, and I'll be eager to see what's happening with this topic when I wake up.
  14. It's funny to me that Wagner edited his post title to incorrectly read: "Brewers land Greinke Royals" http://www.onmilwaukee.co...brewersgreinketrade.html Hope he fixes it soon.
  15. RyDogg, with Odorizzi it's a lot more believable. Exactly. The first report was light enough on the Brewers' end to laugh it off, but now... not so much. EDIT: We don't have a legit starter in their system now and that is still a major concern. Mark Rogers.
  16. WHY would he make a trade of Prince now? If this deal is true, the 2011 Brewers are a force to be reckoned with in the NL. The consensus this past season & now offseason is that the comp. picks are as good or better than what Melvin was offered for Prince. So why would that all of a sudden change?
  17. I doubt it, but I'll try to remain hopeful. I mean... ZACK GREINKE!!!! This smiley seems relevant: http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-scared002.gif
  18. All I have to add is that the thread title's seriousness made me giggle. I just imagine you berating, until you're red in the face, a relish tray that didn't live up to your expectations, hawing. YOU'RE WORTHLESS!
  19. Greinke is one player I wouldn't mind at all seeing the Brewers use the 'Fielder money' (if you will) to extend.
  20. Fwiw, he didn't post that, he re-tweeted Andrew Wagner's tweet. I hate that "tweet" has become part of the lexicon.
  21. Well, now that sounds a lot more likely. By the way, the "it will be announced Monday" part is the part that tells me this rumor is false. Why -- is it common for official press conferences to take place on the weekend?
  22. We'll see. I have to get off the internets for a while so I don't spend all night refreshing this thread. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif I'll check back later & read through more comments about BF posters going bonkers. Of course, there's always the commenter moneymike88 on the Bernie's Crew blog: "God I hope this isn't true. They are giving up way to much." Way too much, folks.
  23. Even though the Brewers would keep Escobar, I just couldn't put a potential Garza deal ahead of getting Greinke. I still believe that Escobar will hit, but even so, Greinke is just too good.
  24. While that's all true, cj, if I were him I'd be anxious right now unless I had unshakable faith in my source(s)
  25. I understand that, my point is that no GM should make a trade just to address current needs for a player like Greinke. You greatly underestimate Dayton Moore's ability to suck. I'm counting on that factor to see this deal confirmed tomorrow. I'll also feel really badly for Breen if this deal either falls through, or if his rumor/source was wrong. He's really putting his reputation out there to be shredded to pieces. EDIT: If it *does* happen, though, Breen will have scooped both MIL's & KC's beat writers.
