  1. Melvin isn't getting Brandon Belt for Hart & Lohse, but I do think the Brewers have some pieces that SF would want. I really hope Melvin just burns it to the ground. This team's pitching is so bad that the next few years are going to be bad anyway in all likelihood.
  2. If he learns how to take a walk he could be Jody Reed.
  3. I agree with RLuzinski. This strikes me as pretty dumb. This team isn't getting back in the race because of Scooter Gennett. Leave him down another month.
  4. He had a .393 OBP in his only full season in the majors. Granted, it was 3 years ago, but given his injury problems, he seems best suited for a bench role. He also, as far as I know, has a good reputation defensively. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong on that.
  5. This would be my take on it. I am not educated in the statistics, but this makes a lot of sense to me.
  6. Very well-said. And I agree with all of it.
  7. I would claim Barton and DFA Gonzalez. I would then DFA Yuni when Hart comes back, leaving a bench of: Schafer Barton Maldonado Bianchi and whomever else if they go 12 pitchers preferably a RH hitter, maybe Davis That bench is actually decent IMO.
  8. 5.0 IP 5H (2 2b, 1 3b (Lawrie)) 3 ER 1 BB 6 k No decision. Probably good enough to earn another turn.
  9. Patrick, I'm glad you brought up the ticket thing. The only reason I got to go was that I BEGGED my then-22-year-old brother to take me. He did, although he made me pay for my own ticket ( a LOT of money to an 11-year-old), and, on top of that, made me pay him a $25 "chauffeur fee". What a jerk. Anyway, it worked out great for me. It's a memory I'll have the rest of my life. Hopefully I can go to another Brewers World Series game some time in the future.
  10. I was much much more confident in the '82 team. Just a far better team all around in my opinion (of course I was only 11, so I could have been wrong). The '11 team's defense always worried me. '82 had it all. Speed, defense, huge power, and good pitching. Losing Fingers really hurt though. Ladd did fine as closer, but it was one of those deals where everyone got pushed up a spot because the guy at the end was out. I seem to recall seeing too much Bob McClure for my liking, but that is purely anecdotal.
  11. Yeah, he did hit 2. I only remembered the one because it was 3-run shot to break up a scoreless tie in the 5th. I hate me some Willie McGee. http://www.baseball-almanac.com/box-scores/boxscore.php?boxid=198210150MIL
  12. I was at game 3. I was almost 12 years old. I will take my hatred of Willie McGee to my grave because of that game. He hit a big home run and continually robbed the Brewers of basehits. My strongest memory of that team was that they were never out of any game because their offense was so good. Even down 6-3 in the top of the 9th against the best reliever in baseball (that wasn't a Brewer), I thought they had a chance. That game was the only time I ever cried over a sporting event.
  13. How did I miss those KC starts? My bad. I wasn't aware he had been up before.
  14. I for one will be very interested to see what Jake is capable of. I'll be pulling for him even if I'm worried we may have lost a good one here. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/05/quick-hits-brignac-mariners-odorizzi.html
  15. Sounds more like a guy who has been drilled on what to say to the media more than being unselfish to be honest. He does not strike me as one of the more humble guys on the team. I agree with you about 95% of the time, but then you say some things that are just so odd to me. Why on earth would he strike you as not humble?
  16. Absolutely. Well stated. This is why he is my favorite Brewer. He is a quality human being which makes me root for him even more than i already would.
  17. If Rickie OPS's around .770 the rest of the year and we get Corey & Aramis back............holy crap. Obviously Gomez & Segura are likely to cool off, but wow.
  18. I'm a Gallardo fan, but watching him pitch is sometimes very painful. High pitch counts just irritate me. Will he ever be a consistent 7 inning guy, or will we always just hope to get 6? We should have this discussion every Gallardo start.
  19. Now they know how we felt about playing the Pirates at PNC Park all those years. True story. That was frustrating as heck.
  20. Man, if I were a Pirates fan I can't imagine how much I'd hate the Brewers. Come off of a sweep of the Braves, come to Milwaukee and get pounded as usual.
  21. So you asked a question when you already knew the answer? Just making conversation.
  22. Yep, he was out, and Schumaker is going to have a sore left knee tomorrow.
  23. No one called him an idiot to my knowledge. If you're lineup is already weakened, you don't sit him tonight. That is pretty dumb IMO. Now, having said that, if Segura will be out for a few days, I could see it. He's sitting because Peralta is pitching though. I think we both know that. Otherwise, he would definitely sit as a part of the whole day-game-after-a-night-game thing. And that is dumb.
