I believe we need at least one more reliable bullpen arm and a starting catcher. In this scenario, someone would have to be able to play 1B. I would attempt to trade Taylor for a 1B, but I don't know a realistic target.
  2. Over/under on innings? I'd set it at 400 for 5 years and I'd take the under.
  3. Again, I was speaking to the offseason as a whole. $10MM from Renfroe.
  4. Just went over to the Ms board. Man, do they hate these 2 guys ?
  5. Thanks. The payroll is down $10MM with the Renfroe deal.
  6. I think the team is better and has $10MM more to work with than they did. It's only December 2.
  7. Toro was a pretty good hitter in the minors and is only 25. Could be a little something there yet.
  8. Winker's top 2 similarity scores through age 28: 1. Kevin Mench 2. Jeffrey Hammonds :/
  9. Yes. He killed a lot of people when he was on the Reds. This was what I proposed when Wong to the Mariners was first rumored, so I'm very pleased with the deal. Wish he had more than one year left though. I think he'll be much better than Renfroe at $3MM less salary.
  10. Yep. I should have italicized "hope". I think it's possible for the next couple years but it might get really rough after that.
  11. Stick him at DH (or 1b). Hope for 3 WAR. Repeat for 5 years (ugh). Not many options other than that. At 3 WAR he's not a disaster. Not good, but not a disaster.
  12. I agree. I think 1 and 2.
  13. Well I think we're going to find an answer to that one way or the other over the next 3 months.
  14. We can't assume it. We can wait and see though. Certainly in a vacuum, this trade is not great, but unless you think our front office is full of idiots (and maybe it is), I think we can safely assume that that money will be spent (because our front office is not full of idiots). We'll see.
  15. The thing is, you don't know if it makes us worse now until that $11MM is spent. That's the whole point of the deal, the $11MM.
  16. So you live in a fantasy land where the Brewers' payroll is $50MM higher than it actually is. Got it.
  17. If you want to look at it as simplistically as possible, yes.
  18. Your best topic since the autobiographical "Ghost Bear" thread.
  19. Woof. No matter what they spend it'll never be enough, because greedy owners, something something.
  20. I see we're at the-offseason-is-over point already. Jesus, it never changes. This doesn't mean they'll be starting 3 rookies in the OF folks.
  21. No big loss. Fine with freeing up payroll. Not much return, but they didn't give up much.
