  1. Jesus. This board has been something else since the Hader trade.
  2. Expanding on this, what does the lineup look like if Frelick comes up to play every day? I believe Hiura should be playing every day as well, so: Yelich LF Frelick CF Adames SS Tellez/Hiura 1B Renfroe RF Hiura/McCutchen DH Narvaez/Caratini C Wong 2B Urias 3B ? No matter which way I try it I end up with a LHH cluster and a RHH cluster which isn't ideal, but I don't see a way around it. I have to admit I'll like the lineup more next year when Turang replaces Wong and McCutchen is gone. Problem is we still won't have a #3 hitter. Hell, maybe it's Hiura. Adames should be hitting down in the order, like 6th.
  3. Chourio up to #11 on MLB pipeline's top 100. Frelick up to 49. Weimer down to 89. https://www.mlb.com/prospects
  4. I would say getting on base is far more important.
  5. This is incredibly strange since 538 has them at 57% to make the playoffs. I'd like to see a link, not because I don't believe you, I'm just shocked. They should be like -120 if you believe 538. Edit: I just read the posts after the one I quoted. No way that +320 is accurate. So I'm not crazy.
  6. I'd trade anyone for the right price, but yeah, it'd have to be in Soto territory for me to actually pull the trigger. One bona fide Ace prospect, one bona fide hitting prospect, preferably on the infield and a couple other fringe top 100 types.
  7. Thread title doesn't make sense, but I agree with the thought.
  8. Dont' really agree on BA having much meaning. I could see Gallo giving 1-2 WAR the rest of the season if he were playing every day (under the hypothetical scenario where he ended up here instead of LA). I would've been thrilled to get him.
  9. Ok, well batting average is a pretty meaningless stat. And he was excellent in CF for 400 innings, no reason not to play him there. I can't explain why he wasn't playing CF instead of Judge. Nagging injury? Poor analysis? I wouldn't have given a top 10 guy either, so this is probably moot like you said, but I sure would've been happy if we could've gotten him for, say, Small.
  10. Who cares what his BA is? He sucked in New York. He was really good in Texas right up until the trade going back to 2017 (except the covid year, he was bad that season. And we could use a LHH CF.
  11. Would've loved Gallo. Great change of scenery candidate.
  12. Nothing more fun than reading the game thread after a great win like that. Hilarious on many levels.
  13. Hader to Rogers will make almost no difference this season. Next season when Rogers is gone is where it's going to matter.
  14. As a part time player. The fact is it's over 5 seasons. Which makes him an incredibly average player. Which is better than Webb for sure but no loss.
  15. I was pretty damn happy 24 hours ago. But since then, yeah. Not great.
  16. Garrett Cooper has 4 WAR in 1200 AB since that deal. Whoop-de-doo
  17. Wow. Ok then. Yikes.
  18. He's flat-out dominant when he's right. Granted, he hasn't been right in 2 years, which is why he was available. If you look at the recent numbers, they're gross. There's no way around it. I can see why someone would dream on him being healthy though. Same with Rosenthal.
  19. Good post. I'm glad you explained your thought process. My simple answer is that that is not how Stearns thinks, and he most likely never will. He understands that with the payroll we have we can't really do that because we'll be completely screwed when we fall short (which is by far the likeliest result). I personally also think that Attanasio has become this way recently too. And I think Yelich's contract looking like a complete disaster is part of it. At least from MA's perspective.
  20. Fire Stearns. Seriously though, I think the team is about the same as it was before the deadline. I think Lamet could change that though, for the better. He is being slept on in my opinion. B
  21. Of course it is. Stearns definitely should have MADE the other GMs do the deals. You have a strange vendetta against the best GM this team has ever had.
  22. I don't like giving up Peters for potentially 25 innings (very optimistic) of Trevor Rosenthal. First trade by Stearns that I truly dislike. 90% chance Peters is never a big-league starter (or more), but still don't like this one at all.
  23. Or Rosenthal preferred SF to Milwaukee. There's lots of reasons that may have happened.
  24. I think you're thinking of 2006.
