  1. Ashby might have a tick or so more on his FB, but otherwise he and Small have a very similar prospect trajectory, IMO. Small has dang fine minor league numbers to back it up, too. He did until last year. That's what concerns me. Chiefly, the K rate at AAA. Tiny sample size, I know.
  2. Ashby at #37 and that’s it. A bit surprising to be honest. I feel like that's not that far off and Ashby is the clear headliner. I think Wiemer and Small would bring top 100 trade value though. Brewers pitchers have turned into a desirable commodity and every team would to bring in an upside guy like Wiemer. Agree on Weimer. Disagree on Small. I personally don't see a ton of upside to him. Hope to be wrong.
  3. Wouldn't mind Greinke. Not much interest in the other 2.
  4. Yeah, Schilling not being in is crazy to me too. If it's not politics I'd like to know what it is.
  5. I don't care too much that Barry Bonds didn't make it. I don't care too much that Big Papi did. I think though, what it's showing is that there's a significant enough number of voters who are voting for guys who were nice to the press to make a difference on whether or not these guys make it into the hall or not, and that's a dumb reason to vote for someone or not. If you want to *not* vote for guys who cheated, be consistent with that. If you want to not vote for guys who were strongly considered (but never proven) to be cheaters, be consistent with that. But not voting for Bonds (who was a dink to the press) while voting for Papi, is just silly Agree with this. If I had a vote I would probably just stick with the guys that were busted and not the guys I suspected. And the whole media thing is just stupid. That's how you get guys like Ted Williams as a non-unanimous selection. Edit: Also want to agree with the people that care less every year about this. That's me too.
  6. I think Taylor is a great guy to have on your team. I'd be a little reticent to pencil him in as a starter when the goal is to win the world series, but as a 4th OF/platoon guy? Pretty darn good.
  7. IF (huge if) we were able to pull off those deals for Staumont and Reynolds there's no way in hell I'm trading Hader at that point.
  8. And if there is, it would almost certainly include Urias.
  9. Houser for Adell seems pretty fair to me. I wouldn't do it, but it seems ok value-wise. Hiura doesn't really matter because he's basically worthless right now, which means the Brewers won't be trading him.
  10. Congrats on a long career. I never found him to be particularly informative, but he was OK overall. I've had several personal interactions with him for my work. Let's just say I'm not a fan.
  11. It depends what you think of our prospects I guess. I don't necessarily disagree with what you're saying here, but if I could get a good bat for Small/Turang/Houser that's what I would try to do. I'm not crazy about any of those 3 so I'd be fine losing them. I'd like to hang on to Mitchell and Frelick, but I would in the right deal. No chance I'd trade Ashby for pretty much anyone. Just my $.02. If we did trade Houser and Small, I'd be in the market for a 5th starter type at a cheap price (Brett Anderson ish).
  12. I would love Nate's last idea. I looked at that and thought it was way too good for us, but it really does seem pretty fair all around. Well done.
  13. Yeah, I wouldn't trade Ashby unless I was completely bowled over. In terms of Houser, if guys like Max Kepler are the best we can do, I'd just keep him. And I realize that may well be the market.
  14. I hate the DH, but I recognize that it's inevitable and let's just go with it.
  15. I remember being so upset I missed that game. I was on my parents' 50th anniversary cruise and didn't see any of the games that week. Had to be June of 2005. Anyway I still had a good time. Edit: Looked it up. My guess in my head was June 22, 2005. It was June 25.
  16. Houser for Andrew Vaughn? Just spitballing. Assuming there's a DH, which I think there will be, Vaughn would be a nice bat (potentially) to have. Too much for Houser? Too little? I really don't know, but that was something that occurred to me as I read that article. Edit: According to that site that MrAllen linked, the Brewers would have to add a prospect like Frelick to get this done, in terms of value. I'd be out at that point.
  17. Well at least we got Lauer out of that first round. I remember being devastated that we took Ray over Puk. Still am. On topic, I would be completely shocked if Ray ever contributed in any meaningful way, but I'll continue to hope for it.
  18. That's the easiest yes ever from me.
  19. Yeah, it could be, but pretty much everything else is more likely.
  20. Better idea: Sign Kyle Seagar as the primary 3B against lefties (Urias is there against righties), have Urias spell Adames at short once a week or so, and also have him cover second for Wong if he needs a day off. Yes, I like the idea of Urias being a super-utility player, bouncing between 3B and 2B to keep him in the lineup often. I don’t want to see Wong traded if possible as his defense is amazing and I believe his contract is pretty favorable to the Brewers. As do I. I'd really like to see him get some work at 1B this spring. Good stick to replace Tellez vs LHP.
  21. Agree. Prospect hugging is a thing. They may turn out (I'll be shocked if Hamilton ever contributes in the majors), but they probably won't.
  22. Richard Rodriguez non-tendered. I'd like to take a look at him. I know he struggled down the stretch but I'd give him a shot.
  23. Curtiss is disappointing. Vogelbach meh
  24. No risk obviously, but yuck. I will be very disappointed if he makes the roster. Worst kind of reliever, a dude that walks everyone.
