  1. Yep, that's my bad. Was thinking 5 would clinch the tie not the outright win. duh on my part.
  2. They can only clinch a tie, which I guess is clinching, but to me clinching is the outright win. So they will clinch against either the Cubs or the Cardinals almost certainly. At home. Which is awesome all around.
  3. A lot of shortsightedness itt . I wouldn't have let him pitch the 8th. Zero chance you let him pitch the 9th. Pretty obvious. Bigger fish to fry.
  4. Yeah that's what I meant. I've been saying all along that the Reds simply aren't very good. The thought that they would actually win the division was always laughable to me because they're simply not good enough.
  5. Man, oh man, did the Reds screw the pooch. Hilarious and completely predictable. They're obviously not done, but they really blew a golden opportunity to get kicked in the face by the Dodgers/Giants.
  6. I'm 46. I was at game 3 of the 1982 WS. I was 30 and attended all 6 postseason games. That took care of two consecutive weekends. Just amusing to me that 46 is fossilized.
  7. Urias as the only other shortstop terrifies me. He can't be out there in the playoffs at ss. Not sure what our options are at this point, because they're pretty bleak.
  8. Guessing the White Sox would be the AL team to cause price to go way up, simply due to opposing team interest. Not sure any other team is likely to really travel to Milwaukee, the rest are a ways away. Earlier series tickets usually cost less, but since any fan not fossilizing hasn't seen a Brewers World Series I am guessing that will fuel any early games they hold. $800 might not be a bad guess. The Indians would have been a decent price comp had they not played the Cubs, who caused their home games to be way inflated cost wise. On the flip side I would bet NLDS/NLCS tickets if/when they happen will be much cheaper than past postseason runs. I resent the comment about fossilizing fans. I'm 46. I was at game 3 of the 1982 WS.
  9. Eh. Maybe.
  10. Not bad for a 6th starter.
  11. Sutton's impact was a bit overrated. In three of his four regular season wins, the offense scored 14, 15 and 10 runs. They don't win the ALCS without him throwing a gem against the Angels when they were down 2-0, but he pitched very poorly in the World Series. Was going to post this. I agree. He won game 162 and pitched well, but he was just OK overall.
  12. I am seeing Eovaldi ahead of Burnes in BB/9...am I mistaken? I'm assuming leading his league, the NL. Also assuming that Peralta isn't qualified in K/9 because Burnes is behind him there too.
  13. I will be extremely disappointed if Ashby isn't on the post season roster. At least if things stay roughly the same between now and then. His stuff is simply too good to leave home.
  14. Were we also misinformed about the Brewers winning a series in Minnesota? I know it must be killing you to see the Brewers continue to look like they’re gonna hold off the Reds for this tight divisional race but there is still plenty of room back on the Brewers bandwagon anytime you want to jump back on. The only reason I read these game threads (almost always after the game is over) is to see BruisedCrew's negative posts. They brighten my day in a perverse way. I too am having a really hard time enjoying the best Brewers team possibly ever.
  15. We had a massive matchup advantage both of the first 2 games(it's going to be tough not to have an advantage with Woodruff/Burnes on the mound). Today, clearly the Reds have the matchup advantage. I just kinda have a feeling Castellanos is going to hit 2 dingers and ruin the game for us. Here's hoping I'm wrong. Also Gray has looked a bit more human than usual this year so maybe we win one 8-5 or something, I think we need at least 4-5 runs to have a chance today. Eh. Look at the batter v pitcher matchups. Small samples abound, but I'm pretty confident this is a win.
  16. Absolutely. Think of it this way: The Reds need to make up a game in the standings every 4 games. Which is the equivalent of outpacing a team by 40.5 games over the season.
  17. https://theathletic.com/2776311/2021/08 ... -they-are/ This Athletic article lists the Brewers as World Series favorite. It's behind a paywall, so I'll just post the Brewers part. Feel free to delete or ban me or whatever if this isn't allowed. "I. The Favorites 1. Milwaukee Brewers The Brewers? Yes, the Brewers. They are your World Series favorites. Milwaukee has the largest division lead of any team in the National League, and the clearest path to a division title. No team will enjoy facing the starting trio of Corbin Burnes, Brandon Woodruff and Freddy Peralta. Some consider Craig Counsell the best manager in the game. And, if the team plays its cards correctly, it can maintain control of the No. 2 seed in the league, thus avoiding whoever emerges from the wild card." Heady times.
  18. Don't go too far out onto that limb. Haha.....yeah. He's first ballot with 99%+. I mean, he's one of the best 10 or so right-handed hitters ever.
  19. Yeah, letting a guy that would have been like our 4th or 5th best reliever slip through the cracks is a preeeetttyy bad look. Here are some things I would consider worse looks... The Yankees spending like 100 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Mets spending like 95 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Phillies spending like 90 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Nationals spending like 85 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Angels & Red Sox spending like 80 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Padres spending like 75 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Cardinals spending like 60 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Cubs spending like 40 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Blue Jays spending like 35 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the White Sox spending like 30 million more dollars to win fewer games than us in an even weaker division, the Braves spending like 30 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Twins spending like 25 million more dollars to win fewer games than us, the Reds spending like 20 million more dollars to in most likelihoods end up winning fewer games than us, the Orioles having a .311 winning percentage, the DBacks having a .331 winning percentage (with an opening day payroll only like 5 million below ours), the Rangers having a .350 winning percentage (also with an OD payroll only like 5 million below ours), the Pirates having a .358 winning percentage, the Marlins having a .408 winning percentage, the Royals having a .443 winning percentage, the Rockies having a .463 winning percentage (with a higher OD payroll than ours), the Indians barely even cracking 50 million in payroll at all. Preach!
  20. I understand the point completely. However, Olson's season this year is pretty equivalent to 2018 Yelich. I'm pretty eager to complete the 2022 lineup with a hitter like that. I don't have any real faith in Tellez going forward.
  21. It means more to the success of the Bucks if it keeps him here for another contract. Which it probably won't, but it can't hurt.
  22. Milner stinks, but this is definitely the right way to go about this. Use him in mop up time until Ashby needs to make a start, which would be Wednesday (I think).
  23. You could theoretically include Tellez in a deal for Olson if Tellez keeps hitting. Tellez' control would be enticing to Oakland, but of course that's enticing to us too haha. I'd love to have them both.
  24. Same. Pretty simple.
