  1. Saw the activity in the thread. Thought there was actual news. Nope. Just Brewcrewin07.
  2. Lol. What a dumb comment. I'm inclined to agree they weren't anything special. They could only hit crappy pitching all year and as soon as the lights came on they were a wet paper bag, save for their one SP who did his job and got 1 swing to win a game. People can call it venting or whatever they want. But 95 wins, winning a division and bowing out 3-1 in the NLDS is completely forgettable. Yelich stinks, Hader's making a nice routine of this and Counsell, who is usually decent, had a pretty bad series. I know you are. I stand by my statement.
  3. Yep. This window is going to be way shorter than it otherwise would have been because of that awful contract hampering our flexibility. Agree. It would be nice if they just hit him 7th at least. That would help a little.
  4. Jesus. Every bloop they hit lands and every rocket we hitis right at someone. Getting sickening.
  5. On the plus side, if it gets out of hand, you can always dot him. Childish I know, but he has been my least favorite player in baseball for a while.
  6. I am going to give my thoughts on this now so I am not one of those people 9 innings later trying to act like I knew all along we should have done differently if Lauer sucks. A) I think starting Morton today is getting too cute and over thinking it. I get the logic, you now have Morton and then Freid the last two games. However, they are in the drivers seat. Just try to win today and if not let Morton/Freid steamroll us in Game 5 if you need them both. That being said this move is a clear sign they hate their chances in a Game 5 and this decision only makes their chances in Game 5 worse if they fail to win today. Props to them for gunning for it in Game 4. B) I support starting Lauer. Dude has been incredible lately and starting Burnes on short rest just seems ill-advised when we would still have to win another game anyway. Brewers hitters have Morton's stuff in recent memory...the Braves can't say the same about Lauer. Agree on all points.
  7. An enormous disappointment over losing what essentially amounts to a coin flip? Thee most dominant pitching staff in team history, pretty forgettable? No kidding. I'd assume this is a heat-of-the-moment situation.
  8. Agree. This is the best I've felt about a game since game 1. IF they win today, game 5 is going to be a war.
  9. Lauer should definitely start tomorrow and I'll be amazed if he doesn't.
  10. I would guess either Ynoa or Smyly unless they bring back Morton on 3 days.
  11. Brutal. Nothing much to be said other than the offense has 9 innings to pull their heads out. And for me, Counsell is the best manager in baseball who made a poor decision (not idiotic, not moronic, just poor) that backfired. Also, I think they should start Lauer tomorrow and save Burnes/Woodruff for a theoretical Thursday game. Get 'em tomorrow boys.
  12. If that guess is right (or even close), yeah, I'm out. Easily. If it's Turang and Tellez and a couple fliers, count me in. The cost is obviously the most important thing.
  13. Just curious about the bolded? Why? I think 1B is pretty clearly the biggest need in this organization.
  14. The technical glitch is affecting both. It’s not an intentional decision. Ok good to know.
  15. I don't mind the box not being there, but put the velocity up. There's a perfect spot right next to the hitters name.
  16. Yeah, there's no chance I'd trade Urias for Mountcastle. Mountcastle is a fine player but Urias is far more valuable due to position. I would keep Urias period, unless something unbelievable is offered, which I can't even think of what that would be.
  17. Happened twice. 1978 (1 game, 3rd place in East) and 1979 (7 games). Also mitigated by 1981 when the Brewers would not have been in the playoffs barring the goofy rule MLB came up with. I agree with the general point though. Someone is going to get shafted somehow. Or at least perceived to have been.
  18. We have a lot of prospect huggers around here. And I get that to a degree. The window is wiiiiiide open right now though. Adding a bat like Olson opens it further, for a couple years anyway. I would be hesitant to part with Mitchell, just because he's close and he fills an obvious need, but everyone else is fair game from my POV. I think everything depends on how the A's see themselves next year. If they think they have a shot at the Astros, Olson isn't going for just prospects, if they trade him at all. It will be very difficult for them to keep that team together. Their arbitration class is unbelievable. Of course that doesn't mean Olson would be the one to go, but it makes it more possible than it would be otherwise. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2021/09/athletics-trade-rumors-payroll-arbitration-olson-chapman-manaea-bassitt.html
  19. Sure don't think anybody would be disappointed to land Matt Olson, I know I wouldn't. I guess as with anything else it depends on the price. I think you're probably talking a package of 3 to 4 decent prospects centered on one of Mitchell or Turang to get it done.
  20. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/split.fcgi?id=olsonma02&year=2021&t=b I'm still driving the Matt Olson bandwagon. Had a pretty big reverse platoon split this season (which is good for this lineup), but over his career has hit righties better. I know most people will prefer to stay with Rowdy, but I'd swing for the fences (haha, see what I did there) while the window is open.
  21. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/corbin-burnes-masterful-season-deserves-a-cy-young-finish/ Great article. Give the man his hardware. And a haircut.
