  1. Pretty sure it was Armando Galarraga. And it was a really good ump who blew it. All by memory so not sure. Tom Hallion maybe? Edit: I looked it up and it was Jim Joyce who is widely recognized as the best ump in the game. Didn't the ump publicly apologize, then Galarraga brought the lineup card out the next night or something like that? Was handled very classy if I remember right. I don't recall that, but that sounds pretty cool.

  3. Good thing they'll have scored 6 runs in most cases. This lineup is going to destroy RHPs. LHP maybe not so much.
  4. We weren't forward thinking enough last winter to try out a guy who moves like a 70 year old man with arthritic knees at 2B. Could you exaggerate a little more? I don't particularly like this move either, but this is a little over the top even for you.
  5. Above average, but not as good as Shaw this year. Thanks. That's what I was wondering because Shaw is pretty damn good I think.. This is so weird. I'm not convinced that Moustakas is the answer. As Eyeblack said, this is the first move by Stearns that I'm truly confused by.
  6. And doing that all with 0 BB in the month of July. That is right 0 BB. Oh and going back all the way to June 24 Schoop has a total of 1 BB. Since June 1 he has 8 BB and 1 IBB. So over about 2 months he has a total of 8 BB and 1 IBB. Are you sure you really want someone like Schoop. I seem to remember you harking on the team not being patient enough at the plate. Schoop is anything but patient he is more closer to Villar and Arcia than he is Yelich or Cain. Actually a better comp is probably Perez with more power. I don't see Schoop repeating what he did last year any more than I think Villar can reproduce his 2016 season. Yeah, I'd prefer just Gausman to be honest.
  7. Vs RHP Thames Cain Yelich Aguilar Moustakas Shaw C Arcia/Miller Vs LHP Cain Yelich Braun Aguilar Moustakas Villar C Arcia Pretty devastating lineup vs RHP Little rough vs LHP Also, Shaw at 2nd. Yikes. This still makes very little sense to me.
  8. I just can't comprehend the Moustakas thing. I must not be nerdy analytical enough. I honestly think they think Shaw can handle 2nd. Which seems crazy to me, but what do I know?
  9. I'm fine with that. Depending on the pluses of course. I don't value Ortiz much. At some point there needs to be production. I'd be far more reticent to deal Phillips. Hes an almost ideal 4th OF. Elite D with some pop from the left side. I'm really intrigued by Gausman so I'd pull the trigger as long as the pluses aren't top 10 guys which they wouldn't be most likely.
  10. Yeah, I agree. I had him in fantasy in 2016 and 2017 and watched maybe 25 of his starts. He has electric stuff, but the gopher ball has been a problem.
  11. I'm down. I wish Schoop batted left handed but I'm down.
  12. Good post. Agree particularly with the 2nd paragraph.
  13. I really liked Gausman going into last year. Tough sledding since. Terrible defense isn't helping as mentioned. Baserunners allowed are alarming though.
  14. Fine as long as he plays 2nd.
  15. Verlander had significantly better career numbers than Hamels at the time they were traded. Not to mention that Verlander was miles better in the season in which they were traded. It's a truly terrible comparison.
  16. That sucks. That's the guy I wanted. Oh well. Dozier it is I guess. That works too as long as it's not too expensive.
  17. I think that would depend on what argument you were trying to support. That's been the case for a long time.
  18. Never let facts get in the way of a good argument. I mean, the post literally right before yours points out his FIP as a horrendous 5.20. Edit: The Cubs may very well win the division, but it won't be because of Cole freakin' Hamels.
  19. There's no rationalization. Hamels sucks. Yeah, they gave up nothing, but he could, and probably will, cost them wins. Nothing significant, but he's been absolutely awful the last month, and wasn't great before that. Could be a change of scenery will be good for him. I personally doubt it. I'd say the same thing if the Brewers acquired him, and will say the same thing if the Brewers acquire Matt Harvey, who also sucks.
  20. Pretty good deal. I liked it a lot more when I thought it was a team option. Medeiros doesn't cause me any lost sleep. He may work out, he probably won't. I know Soria helps.
  21. Another crappy starter. Whatever. Insurance I guess.
  22. Meh. Have fun with that Cubs.
  23. Feel bad for the guy, but this doesn't really hurt the Brewers much. He's been pretty bad this year after a good 2017. Obviously, the injury likely factors into that. He certainly shouldn't be on the 40 man at any point. No one is going to take him most likely and if they do, oh well.
