  1. I lost my court case. I charged for dog off leash but the judge dismissed the charge because the owner never intended to let it in the park. Nevermind that the elements of the crime don't require intent. The implications are that this was a hunting dog, which means every hunter in the area (and there are a lot of them) now know that they can run their dogs through the park and I can't do anything about it. Nobody is going to want to come hiking here if there are loose dogs all over the place.
  2. I'd venture to guess Agent39 knows the real scoop on this but at the same time wouldn't dare to say anything on a public board.
  3. I'd give it a B. I should have said 'anything definitive....' No, everything gets a C. It's best that way. We'll come back in three years to see how the comment played out.
  4. I know of a couple who rented out a room in House on the Rock for their wedding. Was something like $30k. And I don't think they were particularly wealthy. Adding to it you've probably still got student loans at that point, gotta buy furniture and all that. And then save up for a baby in a year or three. I like what a cousin of mine did. Have a super-super-small wedding that basically only parents are invited to, do your honeymoon, and then invite everyone you want for a big picnic gathering. Plus since it was after the honeymoon the couple isn't exhausted from the day and more able to spend time with everyone else. ---- Meanwhile in crypto-land, I wonder if this is the start of that bigger gain everyone had been predicting. A cousin of mine called me yesterday looking to start with some play-around money but I had a hard time telling him that now is the right time, but rather suggested waiting for the next dip. I'm up 49% in crypto since 4/1, but weirdly I think this is going to turn out to be a bad lesson for me in expecting returns like that to be the norm. I made 1.4% in the real market for April and for a second I thought that was kinda bad, but it's actually not really that bad for a month.
  5. The number of 3pt attempts Giannis takes is directly proportional to how big of a victory the Bucks had.
  6. If Rodgers wants out and the Packers are willing, couldn't Rodgers agree to restructure his contract in such a way that would lessen the cap hit on the Packers? That might be a good compromise between the two sides if it can be done. It seems to me that the cap hit is the biggest barrier to a trade rather than the picks/players we'd get back.
  7. 76ers have a pretty easy schedule the rest of the way.
  8. All the talk about 5th and 6th rounders filling needs or 'Why'd they take a TE in the 7th round when they're deep in that area?' is also pretty comical to me. At that stage in the draft I'm happy enough that they're still on the team a year later.
  9. If any of it is true, and who really knows, it does likely kill any chances of restructuring Rodgers and committing to another three years. There's still a point where it can't be left as water under the bridge anymore.
  10. Even if Gute were mediocre, firing him for Rodgers' sake is a pretty clear message of just who's in charge. You'd have lesser players doing the same because they'd know the administration will cave. If we actually traded him and got three first-rounders, that would sure make for a quick rebuilding process. Love gets a year to show what he's got and if he's good, you've got a ton of talent on the way. If he's not good, you move up with all those picks to get the next guy. Win-win.
  11. Even if he actually does retire for next season, which I doubt, it would still make sense to hold onto his contract for the season just based off of what you could get back in a trade. CBS says the baseline is three first-rounders, though I think that's high, but still it would effectively be spending his cap hit on first-rounders, which seems like a good value. Then his contract can be traded after the season. Plus whatever cap relief we'd get for this year, I can't figure what we'd really spend it on.
  12. Not sure if I've ever mentioned this here, but once I did an experiment at work where I wore the same clothes every day. They weren't flashy but also not totally plain. I bought an identical outfit so the constant washing would be easier. The experiment lasted 10 days and not one person noticed (I also asked around in case they just didn't say anything). I only ended the experiment because we had meetings and I didn't want to be called out by the CEO for it. I doubt the results would have been the same if I were a lady, but I thought it was interesting.
  13. We were in a meeting and introducing ourselves to a new President. I gave basic stuff about myself but my co-workers added "And GAME05 also hiked the AT." So the new president said "Oh, well have you ever hiked ___ trail (some trail in an expensive, far-off place)?" and then proceeded to talk about himself another 20 minutes. I wish I would have just said 'yes'. Two weeks later I was talking to him over a cigarette, and when his phone rang he just turned away as I was talking and gave zero 'oh excuse me' nod. Dude had gotten rich in the dot-com craze and was every "I'm better than you" rich-guy cliche you could imagine. He later got sued by the board because the company risked everything on him building a website and it totally failed.
  14. Oh yeah forgot about him. Thanks.
  15. Who is going to play QB for Carolina? If you're going to basically pay a guy's salary for next season, I would think it's better to at least have a capable backup than just an extra 6th round pick. Not unless Bridgewater was just a terrible locker-room guy.
  16. All the talk about not taking a WR in the first round comes with a certain presumption that only first-round WRs can be any good. I'd have been happy with Moore, but at the same time, for the WRs we already have, a late 1st WR might have been competing to be what, the #3 or #4 on the roster? And that's not a big bump in terms of SB chances this coming season. If Rodgers wants out, so be it. Although I still think 90% of it is just writers hyping things up so we'll read their articles. And yeah trade targets like San Francisco picked up a QB and probably won't want Rodgers next year, but there's going to be plenty of other teams who will suddenly want him. if Ryan retires, Atlanta would be a perfect candidate, or maybe the Eagles, or Miami.
  17. ESPN and Aaron Rodgers have agreed to a $5M pre-draft deal in which the star QB has agreed to make a few tweets in order to hype up the drama surrounding the draft. In return, ESPN will gain millions more viewers. ESPN has also announced that 150 articles and every sportscaster on their roster is standing by to annoy fans from now until the season finally starts.
  18. You have to be careful which island, though, or the seatbelt could escape the first one and start a revolt.
  19. Writers are getting a lot better at posting their three-year-old draft grades and showing where they went wrong and right. They're not only entertaining but a good reminder that whatever grade you get right after the draft really doesn't matter. I'd love to pull some old draft reviews/grades from LambeauLeap. I'd bet good money that the folks there did way better than the professional analysts.
  20. I'm in the middle of watching training on tactical seatbelt removal. There's even names for the different methods of doing it: "The Claw" and "The Napoleon".
  21. Denver just traded for Bridgewater for a 6th Round pick. Carolina is also paying $7M of the contract. Denver said it will adjust his contract so that he can become a FA after this coming season. Certainly doesn't change the chances of either team taking a QB right away. But if that guy is Trey Lance, certainly he's not a guy you'd want to throw into the starter's role right away. But Mac Jones you probably could.
  22. I like the complaining. One of the best parts of sports is automatically hating everything the GM does. It's an aspect of baseball that I see as fading away (to a degree) and I miss it.
  23. I didn't think last year was a fiasco.
  24. Bleacher Report said the guy who spoke on finding the note in the trash, years ago had another janitor relative who found a trash-note for another team. This time of year I could probably get 1,000 re-tweets for saying that the Packers were releasing Rodgers because Favre wanted to come back and play a year. If the Packers had a new front office that would be one thing, but having the same guys who drafted him in the first place, trading Love now doesn't make any sense at all. That's a decision better left for next offseason when they decide what to do with Rodgers. Sitting another year probably doesn't hurt Love's value, either. If anything, the run on QBs we might see this year only says the Packers made a good decision last year to grab a good QB when they had the chance.
