  1. I'm interpreting the post as a frustration about payroll disparity but expansion happened to be in the way.
  2. I read "historical pieces" a little differently and think it'd be neat to read old ones from brewerfan.net if they're accessible not just for memory road but to see how right/wrong we were about player assessments.
  3. I split things East/West in my OOTP game because that's the way it should be. Better for rivalries because there's really no reason Yankees/Mets or Brewers/Twins shouldn't play each other more often to promote local rivalries, plus way better for the real players to cut down on the travel miles. Mississippi River isn't a perfect split of teams. I also added Portland in my game but you still have to pull a few East-side teams and make them play in the West.
  4. With the expanded playoffs it doesn't seem like that's near the possibility it used to be. July 4th last year there were only five teams more than five games out of the Wild Card spot in the NL. If it were any big factor in the strategy we'd have ourselves a Josh Hader situation most every year and I'd venture a guess more hated by the fans than an offseason move.
  5. Yeah, that's true. But still better than copper lines or tree-covered satellite. A friend said he was getting 50 Mgs on AT&T's wi-fi service, so I got that box. Basically $50/mo. I haven't run it yet to see, but the salesmen weren't too optimistic as I'm not in a great location. But with the leaves off the trees I should have waited two-ish months to see what the difference is when my satellite service is at its worst. Co-worker has a cherry-picker but he hasn't agreed to come over yet. Would like to at least lop off limbs, but better top a tree and hang the dish up there. Hanging an extension pole from a roof-height lightpole I have in the back yard is the other idea.
  6. A short-term extension doesn't make much sense from LaFleur's perspective. Why accept a contract which says you're not trusted and on a short leash, especially when there's gotta be a few teams who'd hire you as HC.
  7. SF also didn't have five weeks to plan for his absence, a 1st rounder to replace him and another highly paid TE on the other side of the line. Or a huge lead in the game. Or six previous years of playoff failure. But SF still had Purdy, who I assume has won three MVPs in a row since two is obviously not sufficient to have a good team. Granted, it surprised the Eagles, too, so I'm sure if you went back and looked at the Packers game when Parsons went down, you'll see MlF really coached his rear off in that game and we came out winners, too.
  8. I feel like, during a playoff game, "That's his first career TD" is something to be said of 7th Round WRs, not 1st Rounders.
  9. Instead of a halftime speech Matt LaFleur murders a puppy in front of everyone.
  10. Policy, in case you're reading this, please know this isn't just over the top reaction right after a loss.
  11. Well, I can think of one more way the Packers can disappoint me tomorrow.
  12. So much worse to expect to get destroyed but dominate the first half and then manage to give it away.
  13. I hope they didn't even consider Trey Young. Giannis himself even noted the team is better when he's a PG. They need offensive rebounds, rebounds in general and just a couple workhorses to do all the dirty work, not another Damien Lillard type to chuck up more shots. >If I was the GM here is my proposal to Giannis on how I would attempt to fix this team Yeah, unfortunately the only real turnaround if Giannis stays isn't finding that one special FA to magically change everything, but two or three years of just crashing the team. Lotta those traded picks are Top-4 protected, aren't they?
  14. The Falcons just hired Matt Ryan as team president with the special role of leading the search for a new HC and GM. The latest gossip is that Ryan has some slight ties to LaFleur and was hired in no small part to try and pry MLF away from the Packers if we lose to the Bears tonight. Granted, rumors are worthless.
  15. I'd managed to get out of the 7am shift to stay on 8am. Just an hour but it makes a big difference to me, as I can get eight hours of sleep but still feel awful all day from getting up extra-early. But boss now implementing mandatory office hours and believes that if I can get out of 7am shift, a different co-worker can demand not to be put on office hours at all. So I'm about to be put back on 7am. I really really really hate 7am. 7am vs. 8am also doesn't effect our operations whatsoever. I don't see how the two things are at all related.
  16. They're putting in fiber optic lines near me. Don't know if they'll eventually get to my house or not, though. It's very little to be optimistic about, but my internet speed stinks and it would be awesome if that could change.
  17. Thanks. I think when it was $100 I kinda forgot about it. But $15/mo suddenly seems like a lot. Google is saying free shipping for non-Prime people if the product says "free shipping" and that it has to be fulfilled by Amazon. My co-worker says she'll get stuff from Amazon the next day, but I guess Amazon treats my little area as if I'm AKCheesehead and it takes 7-10 days, regardless.
  18. I'd take the Bears if it's a pick'em as well as the under, though I was only ever a break-even sports gambler. Does Twitch show the video of the game or is it more like the Tom Grossi stream where he calls the game but you don't see anything? And Amazon Prime is $15/mo??? I really should check what I'm paying for that. I only have it for two-day shipping (which still takes 7-10 days) and I thought you got free two-day as long as you ordered more than $35 of stuff at once, which is easy enough to do.
  19. What if Tune gets hurt? Does Bo Melton play QB, too?
  20. Maybe that'd be for the best. Some way to divide the kids who want to get an education and maybe play some football, too, and the ones who just want to play football. CBS had an article up the other day about how much each position cost to buy a player from the portal. "Oh, if you want a good offensive lineman, that'll cost you $600,000" said so casually by the agents.
  21. It does seem like winning in the playoffs has a lot more to do with coach preparation and proper strategy than merely having the better group of players. Maybe Ben Johnson is that kind of coach.
  22. Dog-off-leash people are far and away the worst people to deal with.
  23. Forgot to watch the game on Saturday because it was Saturday. Having to keep account of what day they play feels like a chore. It's sad we're already in offseason mode. You're probably right about Willis being a backup yet. If teams thought he were more, he'd probably have been traded last offseason. And a one-year deal makes a lot of sense for him. Land at the best offense he can get and maybe he gets middling-starter money the following year. If the Packers cut Gary it seems they've got no real replacement. Wouldn't it end up being a decision to cut Gary and try to re-sign Enegbare, or just keep Gary for another year? And in that case wouldn't it be way cheaper to just keep Gary? I don't get the impression they're eager to give LVN a lot of snaps. Maybe a little out of the box but would McKinney be a trade candidate in the offseason? His replacement is already here. Maybe a good way to shore up CB or OL? But would teams really have an interest in giving up much for a safety?
  24. He makes sense for a lot of teams. Shallow QB class out there, too. Plus Daniel Jones only increased the market for second-chance QBs. Add in the newer strategy of "Let's first build the team, then get a QB" and I suspect Willis can find a team where he gets 2-3 seasons to start as a bridge or I guess that tiny chance he turns out to be Sam Darnold. Willis' deep ball ability makes sense for the Bengals, too, if they trade Burrow. But he'll be competing with Kyler Murray, who I presume will get cut and not traded (with a bigger cap hit than even Russel Wilson). And I think Carolina has to decide on Bryce Young's 5th year option this offseason, too.
