  1. I have a lot of job-bouncing on my resume, too. At one interview the guy looked at it and said "You sure have a lot of jobs here, but I can see they're all working toward something and you're advancing." I think that's appropriate if you've got a lot of jobs and the direction I'd take with explaining. You've bounced around because you're working toward something, every new job was some kind of advancement toward that goal, and it just so happens that this job I'm interviewing for is my end-goal. So you'd still be able to talk about sticking around even though your history doesn't show it. But I totally agree with nate82, loyalty isn't a factor anymore. Companies no longer see layoffs as a last resort and won't hesitate letting someone go, so employees coming and going is only fair. Like telling your wife you really enjoy going clothes-shopping with her, "I could see myself retiring here" is just one of those things you're expected to say but everyone involved knows it's a lie.
  2. Not to mention for the past lot of years there hasn't really been much competition in the NFC North. Division titles is how you judge a middling/developing team, not one with a HOF QB and several other All-Pros on the roster. Then you judge by playoffs. "What have you done that another coach couldn't have?" is a reasonable question of any coach. Hundley having an ok game probably hurt MM more than the past four games. Can't just blame it on Hundley. I'm still fine with Capers, but certainly him and MM are a package deal at this point.

  4. Is Hundley that much better than Callahan in practice that he's still starting? Is Callahan that bad? Is MM just that stubborn he doesn't want to admit Hundley shouldn't be starting? I can't figure what Hundley is bringing to the offense that anybody else wouldn't.
  5. 4-0 since Bledsoe! The team is something like 13 points better on defense since he's arrived.
  6. From what I saw he doesn't look at his second read until he's scrambling out of the pocket.
  7. That comment really stuck out to me. I don't know how many people could really say that about their job. When you talked about your current job you went right into what you like about it and didn't really mention any negatives. When you started talking about the new job the first things you listed were the negatives. I get it if the pay raise represents a significant boost to your lifestyle, but if it's not enough to make for any real change, I doubt you'll be factoring that into your "Did I make the right choice" decision later on. You mentioned neither job is in your long-term future. Do the new and additional duties of the new job make you more marketable for your future career? SuperCollector makes a good point about the money, which would make the decision come down to additional job responsibilities and how much those are worth vs. a job you already enjoy. And if neither company is permanent, how much can those new duties really be worth? The other option, though not always wise to do, is if you really start to lean toward the new position, present the option to your current boss and use it as leverage to get another benefit. Maybe it's a slight raise, or maybe you can ask them for more tuition help to cover (in some part) classes which would benefit you in your next career.
  8. Packers used the excuse that Bennett didn't disclose an injury in order to cut him. I assume there's going to be an ongoing fight over remaining money. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/report-packers-shockingly-cut-te-martellus-bennett-after-only-seven-games/
  9. I used to work as a proofreader and we always wrote both the Imperial and Metric conversions. When we'd finish with a paper we'd hand it to another proofreader to check our mistakes. Once I handed back a co-worker's paper and said "Oh, you forgot to convert to metric time." She said "Oh" and spent the next few hours searching for a metric time conversion chart. It wasn't so much that she was dumb, more that she was young, naive, and respected her more-experienced co-workers.
  10. Of course Hundley isn't great or anything, but you'd think with three All-Pro-level WRs and a decent RB that they should still have been able to muster a better offense than what they showed. If you have so little faith in your QB to throw a pass that everything you do throw is behind the line of scrimmage, than what's the point of playing that QB? I was starting to hope to see Callahan. New England loses Brady for four games last year and they go 4-0. We're what, a 3-13 team without Rodgers? Isn't there a point that has to be on TT and MM and Capers? How bad does the team have to be before we actually wipe the slate clean? When you've got one of the two best QBs in the NFL, that shouldn't make you a 10-6 decent playoff team, but a 13-3 SB contending team. All of this should be a wakeup call that the team really isn't very good.
  11. I was up 38.5% with a stock. Then they had a cash merger and I lost $1.73 in total. I'd been hoping to pay off my student loans within two years, but life happened and I'm still a year away. Pretty anxious, as any delay costs me a lot of compound interest. I may be a year away.
  12. Bledsoe has a lot more explosiveness than Brogdon, and the team could probably use a guy who can create his shot and drive. Giannis obviously does that but everyone else on the team are just catch-and-shoot players. Bledsoe is an upgrade, but then Brogdon is as cheap as can be, a positive in the clubhouse, and I don't know if there are any personality issues with Bledsoe. I'm pretty content the way things are.
  13. Flathead screws are just dumb.
  14. Definitely the division title. The Wild Card games are a joke and were only put there to placate low-budget teams so that owners could say "See, now low-budget teams are making the playoffs. We don't need more revenue sharing."
  15. I have no neighbors. I like the idea of hand tools mostly to get me out moving around with some light, comfortable exercise.
  16. No hoofed animals allowed on state property. I decided to go with a scythe. I kept going back and forth but it's $150 for one cutsomed to my height. If I decide I don't use it and want a mower, it's not like $150 is some huge amount of money to absorb. --------------- Different thing, I've decided to try and replace my daily energy drink. I'm in both a rush and a haze in the morning so I don't make coffee. The energy drinks really help, but they're sooooooo bad for you. I ordered some caffeine which'll dissolve in hot water, a multivitamin for the B12, and powdered vegetable drink for the magnesium and because it's vegetables. I'm going to add it to some green tea and stevia. I plan on waterbath canning it all to just grab one in the morning to replace the energy drink. I was hoping I would save some money with it, but the supplements make it about the same price.
  17. Weed whip, scythe or cheap-o gas mower? weed whip--faster than a scythe, but there's the possibility I'd have to go over the lawn again with my reel push mower. scythe--I like the idea of hand tools for my small lawn to force me into modest exercise. But it's a slow process. cheap-o mower: It'd be the fastest. reel push mower--I just got one, but it doesn't work on the long grass. I don't really care much about the look of my lawn and only mow it at the point I have to. I can use a zero-turn mower from work, but it's a pain in the rear to get it here and get it back with some on-duty/off-duty conflict and complications. So I guess if it were 105 degrees out some day I could just use it when I didn't want to do the hand work.
  18. 8:30 start of a three-hour football game? I can't stay up that late! You'd think for television that tends to be focused on east-coast viewers, they'd schedule things to wrap up a little sooner. Central Time makes it harder, but it's the same thing for the Brewers. I used to be really into boxing, but that's the worst of all since the main events don't tend to start until 11 or 12. I always wonder about all those early-morning sports talk guys who have all those late games to talk about, yet they're probably waking up at 4am every morning. But I guess they probably show up to work and spend an hour getting a run-down of everything from people who watched it and then watching highlights.
  19. Cook was presumably asking for a lot of money, so I don't know if we would have been able to also get Kendricks if we'd have signed Cook. For as much as Montgomery needs to run to the outside to use his speed, having Bennett in there to block has to be a huge advantage over Cook. And a lot of GB's offense is built on deception and not giving away whether they'll run or pass. Cook is a bit of a give-away, but Bennett isn't.
  20. "It's Back" would be my vote.
  21. I interpret the game Bortles had as to when your 5th starter throws 8 innings of 2-hit ball. Sure, he's capable of it, but it won't happen very often. There's a good few QBs in the upcoming draft. Maybe Bortles starts next year with his soon-to-be replacement as backup.
  22. GAME05

    TJ Watt

Nobody's arguing that the Packers don't need a guy like TJ Watt. It's more that the Packers have a bigger need for a good CB.
  23. GAME05

    TJ Watt

I agree with Warning Track; have Watt play at UCF instead of Wisconsin and you'd have a few people who'd have wanted him, but not to this degree. I try to feel better by remembering that Biegel wouldn't have been a Packer if we hadn't taken King. Maybe there's also some shades of Troy Vincent vs. Terrell Buckley with the Watt situation, too, knowing that passing on a Badger hasn't always been the best decision.
  24. At my new work I usually have two weekend schedules per month, but of course I'd like to be able to keep up with the Packers, and maybe even the Brewers in the summer. I checked out NFL streaming and they said morning games don't tend to get posted until 8 pm, and that's kinda late. I thought about XM Radio, but where I am in the mountains there's no phone or internet reception, so I'm concerned there won't be any satellite reception, either. But I'm also reading about making a vehicle into an internet hotspot with some sort of box. It seems like that would be a workable idea, but I don't know much about it at all.
