  1. Well if it were last year's Plumlee we'd be fine.
  2. Capers has mediocre LBs, a mediocre pass rush, and third-stringers getting starts at CB. I'm not sure what a different DC could have done better with that group.
  3. Well that was entertaining.
  4. Thanks, Billymac. After looking into it more, it appears there are Wireless HDMI transmitters and receivers, and my computer does have a second HDMI output. It would appear that as long as the signal goes about 30' through one wall, that I would just need a television with an HDMI input, and I'm sure those exist. Now of course there's that issue of whether it would be of value to me enough to pay several hundred dollars for the transmitter and television.
  5. I stream sports and Netflix through my computer, and I am curious if it is possible for a television to get wifi or bluetooth and display whatever is on my computer remotely. I know I could probably do it with Netflix, but what about internet sites? I'm curious because I'm thinking of turning an empty bedroom into a dedicated place to drink and smoke cigars, but I'm thinking I might get bored if there's no sports to watch. I do everything through the computer and don't have cable, and can't really run a line to that room.
  6. Anyone tried smoking salt before? I'm tempted to try some cold smoking this winter but I can't really think of anything else to do.
  7. Looking like 8-10" so far in the Southeast and it's still snowing at a pretty good rate. Less snow but freezing rain about an hour south of me. The problem in the South isn't as much the bad drivers but lack of removal trucks to handle it all. Fortunately we closed the whole park down because of it because it's a major safety and liability issue if it were open. I'm on duty right now and would have to respond to something, but at the same time I don't know if I could even make it out of my driveway. Hopefully it doesn't come to that and my radio stays quiet. Boss suggested I walk to the office and start shoveling, but that's not gonna happen. Probably won't be until Monday that we get the plows out and start working on clearing things off.
  8. I used to work at a high-end outfitters in a very rich area. You'd be amazed how many $90 plain white undershirts I sold there.
  9. I like Capers. Our defense ranked a bit worse than average this year, yet I only wish we had an "a bit worse than average" level of talent on that side of the ball.
  10. I wear a duty belt for work and I'll get it out in whatever way that prevents me from having to take the darned thing off.
  11. Doing the chicken whole instead of in pieces and you don't have to worry about some parts being done sooner than others. Plus you'll have more of the skin exposed to the direct heat in order to get crisper.
  12. The game's still going but a minute left, Bucks down by 3. Giannis brings the ball up to the top of the 3-point line. He's given at least six feet with no defenders racing toward him. I wish he would have taken the shot. edit: We have Giannis and you don't. We win.
  13. I just accidentally stayed up until 6 am. Thought it was about midnight--whoops.
  14. $45m more than $5m would not change my life to anywhere near the degree that $0 to $5m would, therefore the risk is greater than the immediate reward. Therefore the immediate $5m would be the better choice. Now if I were already worth a million or two, the coinflip would be the best option.
  15. Despite the winning streak the Packers still seem to me like one of those teams that just manages to skid into the playoffs only because everybody else is so bad.
  16. Working today but ----so far----- things have been quiet. Hopefully didn't jinx myself there:) Although this morning I almost hit an idiot kid who was riding an ATV and decided to cross the street right in front of me, despite clearly seeing me coming. ABS brakes kept me from skidding into him. About 60 degrees and sunny here today in not-Wisconsin.
  17. That was a fun game to watch last night. Buried behind Giannis' career mark, Brogdon also set a career mark and went 7-7. As the announcers said, if you haven't missed a shot all game, you need to be taking more shots. Also got to see Thon play in the 4th, including a 3-point shot. Although I watched him closely on defense and he had absolutely no idea where he was supposed to be and was constantly out of position.
  18. I want nothing to do with Cousins unless he comes here basically free, which obviously isn't going to happen. Why should a developing team trade assets for a player who will leave in FA after next season? The upside is two solid chances at making the Finals, but the downside is spending the next five years wishing we had another superstar on the team in order to be competitive again. And what's the fun in slogging through those terrible years only to trade those assets away once they start to pan out?
  19. How does shareplay work? I have never done it. I've never done it, either. But as I understand so long as one person owns the game and has PS Plus (at least I think they have to have PS+), you connect with another person who doesn't have to own the game and they can play it. You're booted after an hour, but you can just re-connect and get another hour. But maybe someone who has done it before could correct me on it. My online name is "mattresspad". https://www.playstation.com/en-in/get-help/help-library/apps---features/share-and-broadcast/share-play-on-ps4-and-how-it-works/
  20. stoutdude, maybe we'll have to set up shareplay so you can try out Battlefield for a while. Black Ops III was my first COD game and I got a bit sick of the jumping around, too. I've seen videos of BOIII people making it all the way around a map without ever touching the ground. A friend of mine will only ever play Call of Duty. Refuses any other game, I guess because he's good at COD and pretty bad at anything else, as if anyone cares how good he is or not. But if anyone plays a lot of Call of Duty and is looking to get better, I highly recommend Captain Shock's youtube videos. The simple/cheap game my friends and I are addicted to is BlazeRush. A lot of fun as a couch multiplayer game.
  21. So I tried my hand at jerky last week and it came out fairly well. Marinated some strips of beef overnight and smoked at about 145 for maybe seven hours. Wanted to get it to 160, but it was sprinkling rain and I just didn't want to dump in so much charcoal to get up to temp. Either way it turned out great. Did a loaf of turkey breast the other day. Made some pot pies with it. The smoky flavor with it made it pretty awesome. I was all ready to stow the smoker away for the winter, but today it was 60 degrees and maybe it'll be warm again this week to keep piddling around with it.
  22. I didn't see a thread dedicated to video games in the search, so maybe it would be one of some interest for reviews or comments or whatnot. I got a PS4 a year ago after a long time of not playing. I'm certainly not any kind of big gamer, but there's really nothing to do around my town, so it fits as a good time-killer. Plus one or two co-workers come over after work and play, so it's helped socially. I've played a lot of Call of Duty, but just a few days ago I've become hooked on Battlefield 1. It's more intense, the graphics are far better, and I especially like that you can be a contributor to your team without necessarily getting a lot of kills. I'm marginal-to-bad on Call of Duty, but so far I'm middle of the pack in BF1, which for me is great. I've also been trying to play Dirt Rally. Bought a wheel for it and everything, but still haven't figured out the best settings for it. Still fun, though.
  23. Going into the season I really wondered if teams wouldn't be able to figure out Point Giannis, and that he'd be run ragged by the workload. But holy cow his numbers are incredible. And what's scary is he said after this last Bulls game "I'm just starting to figure it out." And it definitely doesn't hurt my fandom that he seems like a genuinely good person. It really wouldn't surprise me at the point when LBJ starts showing his age that Giannis may be talked about as the best player in the game. Raise the FG% and 3P% by about 5 points and he's there. He's improved on everything thing else, so that wouldn't surprise me, either. I'm still happy with the Thon pick. The team is trying to build on a fairly specific and hard-to-find skillset and Thon perfectly fits the mold, which makes it worth it even if that meant his immediate talent was 5-10 slots later than the Bucks picked.
  24. The traffic was brutal tonight, as I figured.
  25. Well I hadn't worked a forest fire until now. One of those things which is difficult but good at the same time. Right now I can't stop coughing.
