  1. Luka is 40 lbs. heaver now than his rookie year which wasn't all that long ago. He's been getting injured more and more often which the team says is a result of him not being in shape, and it doesn't look like he has any real desire to change that. There's a clip of him drinking a beer after a game and a teammate taking it away from him. And being a year away from a Supermax deal, Dallas avoids what it sees as a potential Zion Williamson situation of having an overweight, oft-injured player they can't get rid of. Anthony Davis is on the downhill side of stardom, but he goes back to being a true 5 which he's better at and they get a good 3-and-D guy, too. It's a win-now move on what is already a good team instead of rebuilding. Although at least assuming the Lakers had draft picks to trade, Dallas should have been able to get a couple, especially with LeBron retiring probably at the end of the year.
  2. I sent some laughing-at-you gifs to my Cowboys-fan coworker and he didn't even flinch about Schottenheimer. He's just totally dead inside.
  3. If the thought were "Butler will become a clubhouse cancer in two years" I can't figure the Bucks are really thinking farther out than that in the first place. If you're in a closing Championship window you may as well kick that can down the road. I wonder what the Giannis-Khris relationship is like and if it's strong enough that letting Khris go is also giving up hope on extending Giannis further.
  4. I really like opera but I also really hate musicals, even though I'm well aware they're the same thing.
  5. When I went home for Thanksgiving I ended up doing some grocery shopping with The Mother. When she didn't immediately find something she'd run to ask for help. I usually had the item in my hand by the time the grocery guy got back. But your first paragraph, particularly, just made me think how "kids these days" have grown up on "just google it" and having an answer pop up for them. I suspect much of the issue relates to that and the death of just fiddling with something until you figure it out.
  6. And then you read "Well technically they can offer swaps of their swaps" and you realize maybe it's best if the team just sat this Deadline out.
  7. Thank you, that helps. I don't know why I thought it, but I had always understood that his powers came from Krypton having a way higher gravity than Earth. Well, no matter, I was rooting for Richard Pryor, anyway. The obvious question here is if he had spun the earth North/South would that have stopped time? Maybe once he spun the earth back the right way he could have slowed it down just a tad so we can do away with Leap Year.
  8. If Superman got weak and near death when he was exposed to kryptonite, does that mean before the planet was destroyed everyone was just walking around like that?
  9. No way, she'll marry rich, stay skinny and never stop mentioning the charity her husband once donated to.
  10. Only just heard. Ueck made me a baseball fan. I've always had trouble sleeping, and a good few seasons before the big '92 run I started listening to games to help me sleep. I got to become more excited to hear blowouts (usually losses) because realizing nobody cared much about the game anymore, Uecker would fill the time with a long, rambling, hilarious story punctuated with the occasional "Oh, and Vaughn struck out" note because he was still actually calling a game.
  11. And the winner for least surprising Packers offseason move is.......
  12. Maybe Micah Parsons could be a good pickup. He's heading into his 5th year option and hasn't had the greatest words to say about Dallas. Though a "win because I'm getting old" Jerry Jones would probably be happy to franchise tag him and not let him go for cheap. It would be the next best thing to replacing Jaire if there's no immediately-as-good player available. A Gary/Parsons/Wyatt pass rush would sure be fun to watch!
  13. If they hired Deion does that mean they'd try and trade Prescott in order to trade up to draft Shadeur Sanders to be QB?
  14. $400 to $8.20 to $1300. Crypto is stupid.
  15. My state's DOT will hire private contractors to help clear the roads of snow. They make $350/hr if they use a DOT vehicle and $450 if they bring their own.
  16. I'm optimistic we can keep Hurts contained and not have ourselves another Kaepernick situation, but not as much about slowing Saquon. Overall I think our defense will do fairly well. On offense I worry that maybe Jacobs will have a 3yd average but nothing much for big gains and our offense will struggle to get enough consistency to score 6 instead of 3. Or maybe like a lot of games it just comes down to whether Jordan Love's Brett Favre throws will be caught by us or them.
  17. A go-bag is just being mindful. Don't forget the hand-warmers. I prefer the ceramic water filters to the carbon since they can be cleaned. Just don't let it freeze with water around the filter. Arsonists always tend to show up with big fires. We had three big ones going in my state some years ago and one arsonist was an amateur meteorologist wanting to make a good audition film, and the other was a pack of 20 y/o kids who lit a tire on fire and pushed it down a mountain. There was a lot of looting in Appalachia, too. People were traveling in and making their way to the area just to do so. We had people posted up just to guard big department store areas. Ghouls.
  18. Has Reed necessarily slipped or is it just a product of a system which doesn't much prioritize one receiver over another? Although what's the o/u on Reed jet sweeps next game? 4?
  19. The "sign a veteran QB to be our starter" seems to just condemn a team to mediocrity. Not rebuilding, not a SB contender. Feels like SF just has to re-sign him and hope he doesn't think he's a $50m player. KC rolling out their practice squad QB for their game against Denver. They clearly have a preference for who they'd rather play.
  20. Aped into some hype and caught the top end of a major major wick. Ended up paying 4:1 for it and lost a lot. Just dumb dumb dumb on my part and I should have known better. Really upset with myself, but it is what it is, I guess. High chance of some influencer mentions soon, but that's obviously not what I wanted to be banking on. In other news, AI Agents are the new memes and I wouldn't touch a single one. A million of them out there with no real way to assess expected value. Plus hold a second past the top and those things are gonna crash 90% overnight easy.
  21. I don't disagree with you but at that point why have Divisions at all? The excitement of a rivalry doesn't wane if we only play the Bears once instead of twice, plus the schedule difficulty between teams probably evens out a lot more without the play-twice rule.
  22. Saquon gets 2,000 yards and we don't even have to put a "But it was a 17-game season" on an asterisk. And to think he wanted to stay in New York.
  23. The 7th playoff team really dilutes the product, which the NFL sure loves to do. Any AFC team thinking "Oh no, I sure hope we don't have to play Denver"? And then these small Divisions and the 9-7 Buccaneers are looking at a home game.
  24. I wonder if a trend will emerge of teams hiring a "Clock Management Specialist" who talks in the ear of the coach late in games. And I don't know why there aren't more time outs right before two minutes instead of letting the clock wind a ways down to the Warning. If the offense is running the ball to kill the clock, call your timeout at 2:03.
  25. Underrated even as a HOFer. Nobody has been scarier standing at 1b. I'd imagine whoever hit #2 in the order was told to never, ever swing at the first couple of pitches.
