  1. Latest cope from Cowboys-fan co-worker: "I'm glad he's gone." Coyboys wanted a premium player. So unless you're talking Bullard or Williams or LVN, of that bunch Clark is probably the most expendable. Good person aside, he's geriatric by Packers' standards and was probably going to be a cap casualty after this season, anyway. Graded out pretty much exactly League-average for both run defense and pass rush. I really can't think of a less-hurtful premium player for the Packers to lose. Subtract the fandom and he's probably the most ideal player to have to let go of.
  2. Check out the hook while MlF revolves it.
  3. Reggie also changed the whole narrative of Lambeau being a Podunk igloo every FA laughed at. Reggie reversed 30 years of awful. Parsons could be just as talented, but Reggie did something special.
  4. I normally hate trading 1sts, but hopefully they're both really late picks plus how often do you get the chance to get the 3rd best DE in the League and a guy who has already shown he can completely take over a game? Plus he can play inside on passing downs, so good luck against Parsons-Wyatt-LVN-Gary. My Cowboys-fan co-worker doing his best to accept it. I had the patience not to respond to "We can get another Parsons with a late 1st for sure much cheaper." He said Parsons tends to dog it in the 4th Quarter, but I'd guess that's because he's been their entire defense for years.
  5. Two new casinos opening up, both two hours from me. Other ones were too far away. Maybe I'll get back into playing cards, after all. Used to be very good but there's a lotta rust to knock off.
  6. Bitcoin price still following Global M2 supply. We never really left the four-year cycle, although it's been rougher than usual on alts, probably and understandably because the ETFs are safer but don't allow rolling interest down the line. M2 expected to peak around late September. Four-year cycle trend has BTC peaking around late September, too. There's also an FOMC meeting right around then where a hoped-for rate cut would rocket high-risk assets like crypto (fingers crossed). Typically alts do their last little agonal breath right after BTC peaks, and then I tend to notice one last memecoin hype-cycle just to keep people holding on way too long. Still think there's a lot of 20-40x gains out there to be had, at least going by current vs. expected FDV. I'm knee-deep in AI, particularly Neural and Spectre. Maybe better RWA plays out there than I own. Feels like gaming is more about incubators like SuperVerse and such than actual games and I'm just not excited about it this time around. But at least there's some optimism back in the market again. It was really rough for a long time. A year and a half since the halving has all been garbage.
  7. Yeah, the season starts way too soon. And it ends with cold but two months of just hockey. NFL would be good to push everything back a month.
  8. They still gotta sell season tickets. If I'm the Pirates, Miz and Chourio would be where I'd start. Otherwise no reason not to hold him for another year or two and let the Dodgers and Yankees duel it out for him. What the Brewers could offer now I don't think would be a world different than what the Dodgers could offer later.
  9. Theo from the Cosby show drowned. Wasn't noted last month but the father from Duck Dynasty also passed,
  10. Also means the Bucks will be adding about $10M of cap space. Lillard will be making $70M next year.
  11. Anyone here have their gallbladder out and what are the results of that? Over now but just had my third episode in about two years. Not vomiting so coulda been worse but obviously not great, either. Or maybe being more-regular in taking those stone-breaker supplements would do the trick.
  12. Sold my hot dog cart. I'm now completely out of the vending game. I liked running that cart but just couldn't get out often enough to make it work. But if I retire in the US it's likely I'll start up again and use it as a retirement job.
  13. The Nantahala Outdoor Center is just south of the Smokies. Lets you do self-guided whitewater rafting (their main stretch only has one Class 3 waterfall) or guided. Pretty little spot with hot dogs and such for sale. Good place to sit on the river and watch some of the best kayakers in the US (no exaggeration) do noseplants in the waves. And the 16 miles from there north to Fontana Dam is the toughest stretch of the Southern half of the Appalachian Trail.
  14. If you have to work 12-14 hours a day seven days a week how much would you really care about the weather outside? And it's a summer offseason of Wisconsin weather so not as much need for an offseason home somewhere else.
  15. Wonder if Lillard will go back to Portland and finish off his career there or if he'll try and go for a ring.
  16. I still want to go see Yakov Smirnoff in Branson. I've seen a video of his show now and it looked really good. But last time I went we saw Terry Bradshaw. Yep, he has a live show. The father wanted to get out so the brother said "Ooh, Terry Bradshaw is in town!" The brother was joking but the father doesn't understand sarcasm, so that's where we went. He tells a few stories and sings a lot of showtunes.
  17. Just got back from a trip to Poland, Lithuania and an accidental stop in Sweden. Gdansk is pretty and offers a good amount of stuff to do. The Solidarity Museum was great to learn more about that movement. Curonian Spit in Lithuania was pretty and very similar in appearance and vibe to a northern Great Lakes town, small and a bit touristy. Vilnius not as cheap as I'd have figured but loved the churches and history. Liked that place best, though The Brother liked Poland more. We were pretty disappointed with the food overall, especially with Vilnius being considered a foodie city, though we're thinking we just didn't hit the right spots, maybe, although the herring in sour cream is gross.
  18. I've been avoiding the advice of "You should talk with the boss about the issues" because it would most likely turn into a talk of all the ways in which I'm terrible and I'm not anxious for that conversation, nor am I a "roll off your back" type of person to begin with. A co-worker says it would be a bad idea. But things have only gotten worse and I guess if I say nothing, than nothing could possibly change. Boss just said he's eyeing retirement in three years, which is both too long to just suck it up and deal with it, but also not so long that transferring is my only option. Had a staff meeting yesterday to introduce a new wave of nonsense and the boss asked me a few times for comment, which I declined as I wasn't going to be negative like that in front of the staff.
  19. This has been such a difficult cycle. I was smart enough to get my money in quite early, but I made a big mistake being too degenerate and not sticking to the major alts, which are still way up from when I first got my money in. Otherwise I've just been holding for a long time now. For the most part haven't been jumping to whatever hot new thing. The value of the alts I have are down enough I don't view them as substantially different from anything smaller, and the hot new things the influencers keep pushing only feels like them trying to keep their attention and activity up.
  20. Would I be correct in thinking that with the merger, upped standards and reduced bonuses that they're basically hoping you all leave as opposed to layoffs and paying severance/unemployment? Wish I had a connection in sales to point you to but it's been a long time since I've worked in magazines.
  21. Day 1 of trying out ladies' press-on fake nails to try and mitigate my nail-biting habit. Glue isn't that great on some and they're all turning a little white despite the matte polish I used.
  22. I wonder if part of the thought on the restructure is to make him a little more manageable to trade as well as potentially another year on his contract which other teams would like. That even if there's a restructure it doesn't necessarily mean the relationship has changed or there are no longer plans to trade him.
