  1. i keep thinking that the December Meetings would be the perfect time to trade Hart and maybe even ARam. i don't really see any reason to keep Hart since Gamel needs a chance at full-time work and Aoki is cheap. that'd be a good amount of salary relief. i know you don't really trade for bullpen help, but we might be in a position where grabbing three pitchers with closer's potential would really help us the next few years.
  2. i'm fine with trading ARam mostly because older veterans almost always decrease in value/ability, yet his contract is increasing in cost.
  3. i could see a team like Washington having a use for him to help extend Strasburg out as much as possible. or maybe a team that has a lock on the playoffs and wants to stretch their starters out in a 6-man rotation. i wouldn't bet a quarter on it, though.
  4. it's not that our system lacks depth, it's that it lacks blue-chippers. there's definitely enough other teams interested in Greinke that we should be able to get a plus prospect from somebody else and don't have to think of the Rangers as being the one and only team that we can trade with.
  5. a week is still a lot of time. i'd bet that DM has given a high price tag to every single interested team and is patiently waiting to see who flinches. that's how Boras has always worked with his top FAs--wait until very late to sign because then you get the best offer. so what if the Rangers grab Johnson; there are plenty of other interested teams out there. that said, maybe it should get done before Sunday. Greinke's value isn't going to go up with another good start, but what would teams think if he gets shelled in his last outing for us? if so many teams are hesitating to throw in a top prospect for a rental, then why not throw in a prospect with Greinke to make the trade happen? Greinke and a B prospect for an A+, ML-ready prospect would be great.
  6. Dodgers just got Hanley Ramirez, according to CBS. there goes the hope of ARam to LA.
  7. if you loan me Felix Hernandez for two months, i'll do what i can to pitch him every other day at 130 pitches per game. and why would any player agree to this? someone signs in Toronto but then has to unexpectedly move to another city for two months every year? it would also turn the playoffs into something more akin to an extended All-Star game. that wouldn't be fun at all.
  8. from MLB TradeRumors: It’s time to consider the Angels and Rangers superpowers, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports writes. Lucrative regional TV deals, an abundance of star talent and the flexibility to make further moves have turned the Angels and Rangers into imposing organizations. Both clubs have both scouted Zack Greinke and Cole Hamels, but the Rangers view those pitchers as rentals and are hesitant to part with top prospects for either one. Link to the Rosenthal article: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/texas-rangers-los-angeles-angels-new-superpowers-no-longer-new-york-yankees-boston-red-sox-071512 of course talk is just that. and being this first year with new trade rules, i'd imagine GMs just can't quite estimate value the same. it might just take one team to suck it up and trade a good prospect for a rental and then maybe every other team will do the same. i'm not a big fan of the new playoff system, but i don't know if i'd feel satisfied at the end of the year if we passed on a couple decent prospects and then lost in that one-game play-in. as valuable as prospects are and as bad as the Brewers' system is, it just doesn't seem worth it to risk this much one one single game.
  9. i thought the Rangers said Olt and Profar are off the table for any rental.
  10. even at age 35, i'm slightly tempted to scrap the career field my Master's degree is in and look into somewhat-unrelated work in the private sector. a few years of entry-level pay, sure, but it would still represent a much higher salary than what government work offers. i've been pretty frustrated that my Master's degree hasn't meant much in finding full-time work, and even if i were to land something, the pay being offered isn't much more than i made working in fast food 10 years ago. i should be a shoe-in for a job i just applied to (that's not just being cocky), but am pessimistic because of nepotism (i hope that's ok to say since i don't believe i've ever given away exactly where i work). this week i'll be dumbing-down my resume in order to apply for about any job i can find--not including my Master's degree and substituting some career jobs for my filler ones. funds starting to run dangerously low. it's great one one hand, but also kinda hurts to hear your little brother offer to loan you money. i'm willing to move anywhere fairly decent, but it's too bad that nobody's going to fly me out and i can't afford it, myself. the only long-distance option is moving somewhere and then looking.
  11. given up 14 runs in the past 14 innings and in the middle of trade talks, so a 'recharge' isn't a bad idea.
  12. working at a park part-time now and the full-time opening closes next week, so we'll see. they have a "huge stack" of applications, but i work there already, have excessive education and related previous experience. but we'll see. but what's frustrating is the full-time pay is an absolute joke. it's still a step up for me with the benefits, though. as much as i may end up liking the job, i'm going to keep looking for better opportunities just because of the pay. my coworkers get the same pay, but they get free housing (i won't).
  13. when i was coming home from the Appalachian Trail, i'd washed my clothes and showered a few times, but the counter-people still almost didn't let me on the plane because of my body odor (it truly gets down in your skin and takes a couple weeks to go away). "Sir, um, you have a very noticeable odor, and we really can't let you on the plane like this." i told them it was one of the shirts i had on and they let me on the plane, but it was a lie. felt kinda bad for the guy next to me, because i knew i stunk real bad.
  14. Boxing Rec showed the scores given by 82 experts of the fight, and only one had Bradley winning. most scores weren't even all that close.
  15. I've looked at previous Pacquiao opponents before and all of them have been 'just another fighter' i'm not sure where you're getting that from. Pacquiao has always taken on quality opponents who were top contenders in their division. De La Hoya was the only guy i can think of offhand who wasn't a top guy, but Pacquiao was a lot smaller and really was reaching in weight. heck, he even beat Marga-cheat-o two fights before the guy got caught putting plaster on his wraps. Bradley is good but is a soft puncher except for when he's using his forehead. and i don't see how anyone would be able to punch more in 12 rounds than Bradley.
  16. Then following up asking why exactly you weren't a fit and getting no response. i've always thought most places won't tell you that for legal reasons.
  17. i sort of had that once, too. one person there occasionally would stand up and start stumping and using very very nasty words against the other side. it sounds odd to say because of the details i'm purposefully omitting, but another coworker once came to me in tears because of it. i reported her at that point.
  18. i immediately pictured the scene in Fight Club where he's at the board meeting with a swollen face and a busted lip, freaking everybody out but just grinning away.
  19. at least 30 hours of putting together some artwork down the drain because of a small paint splatter during final tough-ups (not to mention the cost).
  20. probably my favourite war movie is Kubrick's "Paths of Glory" starring Kirk Douglas. certainly more political than action-oriented, it's also my favourite movie ending of all time.
  21. i'm blanking on the name right now and i'll have to dig through my PM box, but there's a guy on brewerfan who can do personalized t-shirts. certainly there's people in Milwaukee who can do it, but it's nice to keep it in-house, too.
  22. i'd always thought that curry was really invented by British people as an approximation of Indian spices, so therefore, curry isn't technically Indian, but only has come to be incorrectly associated with India. granted, i'd have to be some kind of jerk to point out a technicality like that (especially if i'm wrong) when you're just enjoying a well-made vegetable dish. my favourite curry dish: spicy fillet of baked fish over curried cauliflower. lots of protein and extremely low fat and calories.
  23. Whoever turned it in may have found it empty. Person A helps himself to your money and tosses your wallet on the ground. Person B finds your wallet and turns it in. Person A = Criminal loser. Person B = Good samaritan. Just a possibility. which begs the question: do you still give $20 to the dude who found your wallet on the off chance he found it and didn't steal anything? but i agree with you, i think someone who steals cash from it isn't also going to turn around and track you down to hand it back. it's more effort than any criminal is going to make, plus it would add the extra guilt of seeing the face of the man whose money you'd just stolen.

i have a friend who has been studying it for a long time and i've been getting into it for the past couple of months. i see how it has benefited him, so have been curious if it has made any sort of difference with other people on here, especially as the whole concept is becoming more and more popular. i mention it to other friends and they immediately conjure up an image of the slimeball saying "hey baby what's your sign?", but it isn't really like that. it's more the psychological 'what repels, what attracts, and why.' certainly all of the advice kind of ends in some brewerfan-inappropriate question, but then that's what sells DVDs and that part isn't one i prescribe to. i haven't used it to approach a random girl on the street yet, but the information at least has helped me to become more social, and being the Average Frustrated Chump that i am, has helped me to figure out some things that i'd been doing wrong. so i've just been curious if other people here have had any experiences with it and so on.

it seems to be a trend now. i've been reading up on it for about two months now. i've had so-so success but have generally liked it. curious if anybody else has been getting into it and what your reaction has been. i'll add that i've been listening to podcasts of David DeAngelo and Daygame, and currently reading "The A Game." (obviously with the disclaimer that everything remain brewerfan-appropriate)
