It's not the receivers, its McCarthy. Two runs, then all empty backfield downfield throws. So predictable. No runs, play action, no screens, pass to rb in the flat, quick slant. Just all downfield attempts.

The "warn both benches" thing is ridiculous. The Bum gets a free shot at Braun, and the Brewers are the ones in danger of getting an ejection. Plus The Bum knows Brewers really don't play that game to begin with- especially with a lead in the game and middle of pennant race. Not sure this is "the latest projection " as article is from back in May. But I agree, would be great to buy a AAA affiliate. If I had to bet though, its hello Fresno.

Fully aware, and I understand the convenience of seeing who has options when trying to solve a perceived logjam. That's a fair point for sure. What I can't fathom is how it would be a good idea to stunt Peralta's development by sending him back to AAA where he has has nothing to prove. If he hadn't shown anything in the majors, then sure, give him more time to season in the minors. But he's been ace-level unhittable. He needs to work on location and control against major league hitters to cut down on free passes. Part of that is simply confidence. Confidence not gained pitching to free-swinging minor league batters who will do nothing to help Freddy make that final step. We'll know at the end of March or early April at the latest when a 5th starter is needed, but conversations I've had with someone who would know, tell me Peralta is here to stay barring injury or a disastrous spring training. Anderson and/or Davies don't even have to go anywhere for there to be a spot for Freddy. But those 2 sure aren't going to stand in the way of giving him the chance to be special. Even if Peralta doesn't improve his command one iota, he's already an average major league pitcher who has shown elite level ability to miss the sweet spot of MLB bats. That's not something a major league team fails to explore fully. The only way to do that is in Milwaukee. You don't need to convince me on Peralta. I'm sort of the unofficial president of the Peralta fan club around here. Had him listed as the #1 prospect for quite a while- higher than Burnes, Woodruff, Ortiz, etc. That said, I disagree he can't benefit from pitching in AAA. Every pitcher can benefit from this, even veterans. He could work on his FB command, and more importantly work on his curve and change. Could he do that at the MLB level? Sure. But it doesn't hurt him to start in AAA for a month or two. Like it or not Chacin, Anderson, Davies, Nelson (if healthy), Miley ( if he's back) all DO stand in the way temporarily as they have no options remaining. Hey, they may very well start him in the rotation from day one. I guess I'll leave it to the team to decide how best to handle him, as they have far more to go on than what we know about. But there's no rush.

Peralta has options, that's why most of us don't have him in the top 5. I don't believe they're looking to trade either Anderson or Davies, they are controlled at reasonable contracts. Peralta will get his opportunity. It really doesn't matter how they're listed in a pecking order, 8-10 guys will start games and the ones who stay healthy and are effective will stick.

It's definitely ok to be greedy today, a sweep makes an enormous difference. If you lose and take 2 out of 3, sure, you can feel good about that and you're still the top Wild Card, but the fact will be you haven't really impacted the division race much. Win, and you're 2 back and all of the sudden you really start to put pressure on the Cubs. Yes they have 3 more games against the Cubs but asking for another series like this only to finish the sweep is a huge ask, especially at Wrigley. You're already in position to do that today. Put it this way, win today and you can afford to 'only' win the series in Wrigley without sweeping. I don't disagree with any of that. But it's not a MUST win, that's all.

I will trust CC, as 90% of the time people have an issue with the lineup, he ends up making the right call. I will go out on a limb and say he has reasons why Yelich isn't starting. Could be something is tweaky and 2 days off is in order, who knows.

We've consistently been about four or five games back of the Cubs for a month and a half now. I don't know why you would think we could make that up in three and a half weeks all of the sudden. You're saying they can as well aren't you? What's the difference if they sweep this series, or catch them some other way? Who knows, maybe they sweep them at Wrigley.

Definitely NOT a must sweep. If they lose, they are 4 back with most of September left to play- including 3 more against the Cubs. Sweep puts them 2 games back, obviously that would be big but not a must.

It's a gamble, but Peralta vs the Cubs is an interesting idea. They haven't see him yet, and that usually works out well for Peralta. Not sure I would do it, and highly doubt CC will, just throwing it our there as an outside the box idea.
