  1. Its incredibly hard when you've been the man for so long, and realize that ship has sailed. Even last year, there were players who had better years but it was just that. This year Yelich, Cain, and Aguilar are all now "the man." Teammates, media, fans, everyone knows it. Hardest for the player himself to accept. If he can do that and use his experience to be an obp guy, it would help both the team and himself.
  2. One inning in the playoffs, assume neutral lineup. Who do you want on the mound in order of confidence between: Barnes Burnes Soria Williams Guerra Woodruff Peralta (Or just top 3 to save time)
  3. I don't want to see Albers until the day after never. Peralta to see what he looks like out of the pen. Guerra, Williams, Barnes to stay sharp. Albers better not be on post season roster, no reason for him to pitch unless everyone else is used up. . Not that big of a deal, just saying.
  4. I would add Gonzalez. The way hes pitching, any of those three are so close. Fast hook sure, but would love to get 5 innings. The more relievers you throw out there, greater chance one of them blows up.
  5. OPS is 85 points lower, that's not a small number. "If he had x more hits" doesn't hold up, you can always say that about anyone. Same thing with hard hit balls, over the course of a whole season it doesnt matter much. All it tells me is hes really good at hitting hard grounders to the ss.
  6. Spot on! If the Cardinals lose today, it would make it pretty difficult for the Brewers not to have a playoff spot. But why should we settle for backing into the #2 seed? This team has shown this year that, when focused, they are a top 2 or 3 team in the NL. If they are forced to go on the road for a play-in game, or completely fall apart and not make it entirely, you bet this fan base is gonna be upset, and rightfully so. This team has been neck and neck with the Dodgers and Cubs this year record wise, and to scuttle that now while those teams close out the year on a tear would be extremely frustrating. You play all these games in the regular season to get to the point where the Brewers are at, where their destiny is right in front of them. The fan base here? Sure. The fan base in general? I doubt it, they'll just move on to giving their full attention to the Packers. The bar is very low for vast majority of Brewer fans, in my opinion. They don't have huge expectations only to see them crushed. That's why so many games were sell-outs (or close sell outs) during June-Aug, and here we are in a pennant race and a ton of empty seats all week. Casual fans go to group outings during the summer, maybe even on their own to tailgate and get a bobble head or something. Point being, I don't see a big fan backlash at the gate next year if the worst happens and they don't make the playoffs this year. It will be nuts here, nuts on talk radio, but most fans will shrug their shoulders with a "that's my Brewers" and move on.
  7. Honestly, we should be thrilled this team is even in the playoff race. Look at how many players have regressed from last year, some drastically, and they're going to win 90+ games. I think that's incredible.
  8. Anderson really hasn't been much different than Chacin, Miley, or Davies over the last month.
  9. That mascot is 100 times better than the worst mascot in sports- Bernie Brewer
  10. Baez plays for the Cubs. I don't think the big/small market matters. Braun beat out Kemp for MVP when they had very similar numbers. Another thing working in Yelich's favor is defense. Make that his PERCEIVED defense. He has a gold glove on his resume, and my guess is the national media thinks he's a much better defensive player than he really is.
  11. More neutral (still in PCL though I think, so hitters league). But a subpar stadium in pretty much every way is my understanding. San Antonio city adminstration not really wanting to kick in money for new stadium, like the CS owners were hoping for. So overall, at least a move in the right direction. After dealing with CS, maybe the Brewers are working on buying some ownership in the team and/or helping to pay for a new stadium? They have tremendous stability in A/A+ now, and actually pretty well set in AA as well. If they could work out something long term in AAA, that would be perfect.
  12. It's actually something the mods pointed out recently. No upside in reminding people they were wrong. That said, it's always refreshing when someone volunteers to admit they were wrong. I've seen a couple people do that for other players/moves. A whole lot have done it for Miley.
  13. Depends on how you look at it. The fact he isn’t getting much consideration recently makes it pretty hard to turn the tides in 10 games. Though a flashy game like tonight can help. I just haven’t seen much if an true #1 consideration. Likely he gobbles up a ton of #2-#5 votes. I think someone like Baez will garner the majority of the first place votes to win it. NOT THAT I DONT WANT YELICH TO WIN IT! I just don’t see in a highly competitive MVP race a small market guy winning it. I think it is better to start hot and then be really good vs. be really good and then get hot. People have been talking about Baez and other for months. We are just starting to see Yelich love. Hard to fill the bandwagon at the end...easier to keep them on. I don't think small market comes into play. Braun won over Kemp their numbers were very similar.
  14. .274/.310/.368/.678 So decent avg, not much in walks or power though. That line is probably Arcia's upside and has been since before he was called up. He has never looked like a major league quality bat if it didn't come with great defense. How can that be his upside if he already had a better season than that last year?
  15. Man hard for poor Dillard to get a word in when Auggie is all excited like this.
  16. Who's Still? I think Still is Albers nickname. As in "He's still on the roster?"
  17. I agree, and that's why I think he has around 50% chance after tonight. He has old school numbers like BA and dingers plus the two cycles. Then he offers a smorgasbord for the advanced stats voters. Batting title really would be a feather in his cap.
  18. I want to see Domingo get a start in this series. He's been hot as a PH, let's see what he can do with 4 ABs. Granderson has done well so far as a Brewer though, so I get it.
  19. Since the Packers biggest strength is their passing game, I would argue domes are a perfect venue for them. They won playoff games in Atlanta, Dallas, could be forgetting one. I won't deny a HF advantage, but I think it's very small these days.
  20. Remember, the A's MLB club may eventually move to Vegas so this makes sense.
  21. Watched the Packers game at a restaurant/bar with a group of people. Split the bill by 3 (credit cards.) Now I see today I was charged for the entire amount. Checked with the others, they were charged for 1/3 each. I'm sure it will get resolved, but now I have to spend time on this.
