  1. A month to go, some predictions may be soon to tell but interesting to go back and see guesses on biggest surprise, biggest disappointment, MVP, etc. Feel free to gloat or laugh at your predictions so far. Hate to point it out, but it's all in good fun. I noticed a couple people picked Bandy for biggest surprise.
  2. Holocaust Museum is a must see. Also, Bureau of Engraving & Printing is next door basically, really interesting tour most people don't know about. I would do both of those over most of the Smithsonian museums. Also, highly recommend walking the mall and seeing the monuments at night. Beautiful and peaceful all lit up. Staying in Arlington, seeing changing of the guard at Arlington Cemetery is a must see. Pentagon tour was worth it, but need tickets far in advance I believe.
  3. I think both can be true. Its frustrating and exciting, that's the essence of sports. Edit: Pretty deep ha?
  4. "New offense" tonight: Schoop 1-1 Moose: 2 run homer Schoop reached on an error. I scored it as a hit
  5. You forgot Ho Chunk. And don't dis Tubie. Tubie is awesome, and really helped Josh when he had a rough game.
  6. I'd like to think adding Harvey would allow us to keep most starters on a VERY VERY short leash. If Peralta is struggling in the 2nd inning, done. The idea of a 6 man rotation is interesting specifically because of our schedule. In September we play 6 games a week with every Thursday off. Anderson and Guerra specifically have proven they are much more sharp with extra rest. You could have starters pitching once a week with Davies and Woodruff available in long relief should any struggle. They would already get an extra day off without a 6 man rotation. I wouldn't want to take 2 starts away from both Anderson and Chacin in Sept and give them to Harvey. No way. Especially when they're already getting an extra day rest all month.
  7. Can we still be negative towards the Cardinals and everything they stand for?
  8. Thanks, had to look it up. Forgot all about that signing already.
  9. So what about all the terrible starts this year at the MLB level and all the other terrible starts at the MiLB. But yah...lets just take the last result against AA competition as proof he can get elite MLB hitters out. Could very well have been injury related all along, something he was trying to battle through. He just put together a solid season last year, so it's not impossible to believe he can do that again if he's right.
  10. So it's a combination really. Fastball doesn't move, he can't locate it, and not getting his curve in/near the zone. If he could improve on even one of those things it would help him significantly. I don't buy it's just fastball movement. If he commands his curve and locates the FB he would have a tone of success- even if his FB had no movement.
  11. If Davies is truly 100% healthy, I'd take the 2017 version of Zach Davies over anyone currently in the Brewers' rotation. We're talking about a nearly 3 WAR starting pitcher who won 17 games with a 3.9 ERA last year. I don't agree how you put this, but agree with your general point. Davies on top of his game would be a big addition to the rotation. But is that the Davies we would be getting? And we're headed into September, so no time for experiments. That said, I think you need to take risks to get over the top, especially a team like the Brewers. Maybe let him start, and if he just doesn't have it be prepared for Miley or Peralta to take over early. Here's a nice list of ifs for you. If it's the good Davies, if Anderson can keep a few more balls in the park, and if we see more of the untouchable Peralta the rotation looks much better. Chacin and Guerra are pretty much known quantities. Chacin has pitched well all year, and Guerra will generally keep you in games. I would roll with Anderson, Chacin, Davies, Guerra, Peralta and use Miley in the pen, as they could really use a lefty there. You can always put Miley back in the rotation if someone is injured or awful.
  12. Strong outing tonight, looks like he's ready. What now? With all the off days they barely need 5 starters let alone 6. Tough to send Peralta down after this start, and hes really not a pen option. But they do need a LHP in the pen, so moving Miley there has to be considered?
  13. It may be that simple. Would love to see what his strike % is throwing his curve last year vs this year. I don't have time now, but will look it up later. But this would easily explain it, as professional hitters will go to town sitting dead red all the time.
  14. My guess, Broxton down, the other spot opened up by a 10 day DL stint for somebody. Or, Peralta makes perfect sense with all the off days coming up. They could go with 4 man rotation pretty much as long as they want.
  15. Yea, they'll need an OF in AAA, and likely don't want to mess with Ray this late in the season. For Coulter, it's partially about "it's just time." Hoping he sticks around next year, could be a late bloomer. If not, oh well.
  16. Truth be told, I grew up as a kid on the West side of Chicago. Confused, are you saying Chicago is not in Illinois? Or values exist everywhere in IL except the west side of Chicago?
  17. That doesn't sound like the good Illinois values we hear so much about.
  18. Riddle me this. It's been strange on the field, in the forums, everywhere. Is it the anniversary of WHOAA SOLVD today or something?
