  1. Even a .650 OPS from him would make such a huge difference for this team .802 in August coming into tonight, I really believe he can go .750+ from today until the end of the season.
  2. Insensitive posts? Winners don't care about hurting feelings. That's what my bar league softball coach told me once. FV
  3. Can we still check out the box scores from the minors?
  4. Yes, he will love Milwaukee and be willing to give us the hometown discount of 7 years/ $70MM
  5. Also, partially CC's fault for winning that game on Sunday vs STL Good catch!
  6. So everyone's afraid to say it? Ok, I'll put in writing what everyone is thinking. Cards claim Harper, Harper proceeds to hit 197 bombs in September, propelling the Cards to another WS title. Meanwhile, BF.net explodes on Stearns for dropping the ball, not realizing the Cards were ahead of the Brewers in the waiver claim order.
  7. I still think the Brewers are very much alive for the Division, forget this WC stuff. Cubs have to play four more games, that's really going to tax their bullpen the rest of the season. Not to mention the physical and mental grind, and frankly 4 more opportunities for an injury. Finally, fate is in the Brewers own hands playing them 6 times. Not predicting we can take the division, but given all this 3 games is really nothing.
  8. Not a small thing, Brewers hold the tie-breaker over several teams in a WC scenario if they finish the season with the same record. Cardinals, Braves, Rockies, and Dbacks.
  9. Actually, they were both used in the 2-1 win vs the Cards on Sunday as well. Counsel must be crazy to use them in two close wins instead of a probable loss. Yes, I was not suggesting they were not used at all. I meant that the Friday game everyone wanted them to pitch that they wouldn't have mounted the comeback in might've added up with the Sunday game and made them completely unavailable for Monday's close victory. Yes, that's what I was saying. Just expanding on your point that not only was last night's game a better use for them, they were used in the Sunday win as well. (As opposed to a likely loss the day before.)

  11. They were 2-5 on the road trip before the last game, that's all it takes around here. No blue, all true.
  12. Bandy > Kratz I was gonna say, that's probably not the best argument considering our catching situation. Bandy would be better for defensive reasons alone. I fail to come up with a single good argument for Kratz being on the roster. We have at least 4 better options in the minors than him. And yes, I'm counting McDowell as a plus defender would be just fine even with a 500 ops...better than a dreadful defender with a 550 ops. My point is Bandy is hitting .892 in CS, so Santana's numbers there mean very little. Bandy was bad last year as a Brewer and even worse this year. If Kratz was in CS this year he would be hitting .900 and everyone would demand bringing him up. So it goes.
  13. Bandy should be called up and play every game based on his CS numbers. Gave up on him too soon.
  14. The issue with Counsell is his stubborn adherence to his "rules". Whether that's shifts that don't take game situations into account inviting opponents to get tying runs to the plate by bunting, or not pulling out all the stops to beat the teams you are competing with directly for a playoff berth. All the furor about not using Hader or Jeffress when they came within a run was amplified because the opponent was the Cardinals who are competing with the Brewers for not just the wild card but the division. It's the manager,'s job to give his team the best chance to win the meaningful games. Rest players in games of lesser consequence not against the Cards or Cubs. They don't need to panic like fans do. At the time, there was what roughly 40 games left in the season? (And lots of people here have been acting like these were life and death decisions months ago.) Hader doesn't need to pitch in a game they're losing at this point in the season. Come September vs the Cubs I have no doubt CC will use Hader in a game they're down by a run if he's rested. A baseball season is a long marathon, and if they want to be sure Hader/JJ are ready to go full speed ahead in September/ October, that works for me.
  15. Fake news. DBacks: 5-1 Braves: 4-3 Rockies: 5-2 Cards: 9-8 Phils: 3-3 Dodgers: 3-4 Cubs: 4-9 33-30 vs the best teams in the NL. They've even done well against the Cubs other than a 4 game sweep earlier in the year. Not taking that out since it did happen, just mentioning it for context. They've played very well against all the other "good" teams. I wouldn't call that "exposed," quite the opposite.
  16. Moose as a Brewer: .816 OPS Villar as a Brewer: .693 OPS I would say Moose has been a significant improvement so far. Soria is obviously a better option in late innings than Barnes, Williams, or even Burnes. Probably could add Knebel to that list.
  17. These conversations come up a lot in the IGT, and I always wonder if posters here think they know more about how to use Hader/JJ than the Brewers do. We need to remember they take a whole lot of things into account, not just innings pitched. Appearances may be as or even more important. It's a fine line to make sure these guys are still sharp at the end of the year, while at the same time winning enough games that it matters in September. When in doubt, be safe, better than blowing out an elbow. All these comments about "Hader hasn't pitched in x amount of games" are just knee-jerk reactions without having any concept of how they're trying to manage is appearances.
  18. There's already several threads talking about "what do we do now that they've lost a few games."
  19. He has also looked good against #1 defense in practice, as of now he's definitely on the roster.
  20. I'm 100% convinced of this. It's really, really sad. I guarantee someone would point out it took longer than it should have. Then again, when they win the WS I'll be half in the bag running naked down Wisc Ave with the ball and glove logo painted on my chest, so I won't be reading those comments.
  21. Oh ya, thanks for the Kato joke bud. You're welcome!
  22. Some of our best players have come from the so called trash can. What it says about our team is that we don't have the necessary payroll to consistently play in the deep end of the Free Agency pool. What it says about Stearns is that so far he has shown an ability to extract value from players who other organizations believed would provide none. That is an important & much needed ability for a GM, especially soin a market as small as Milwaukee. We have gotten value...but Have any of the scrubs we picked up cost us any games this year? Thay would negate some of that value. I just don't remember us doing this in the past as much. It reeks of desperation. You entirely dismissed Sveum's response. Not sure why you keep asking questions, since you have clearly made up your mind. Bordering on trolling actually. Stearns and Counsel are horrible, no matter what anyone says. Kato would be proud.
  23. A load of garbage? So when Stearns came in you were expecting them to compete in 2017 already? Really? And I don't think many have an issue with the "all in" approach, the question is WHEN? For example, the last two times they made the playoffs they needed one more SP each time. They were so close, but didn't quite go all in. So yea, I'm a prospect hugger. But I have no problem with going all in at the right time. I rather do that than go 85% in as they did the last two trips to the playoffs. In 2008 I doubt it would have mattered, but in 2011 if they had one more quality SP they very well could have won it all.
