  1. Villar with crappiest rbi in history, can't even do that right
  2. Yeah, and if he pokes an 0-2 blooper into right field, we're down 2-0 and with the way the offense is going, that's a lot. A rundown is almost a sure out. You throw over every time. Dozier probably breaks for home and then the infielder throws there and you deal with the rundown there. I'm glad he got out of it, but absolutely inexcusable to just eat it and make no throw. No it's smart. He was just as likely to throw into C.F., at least he's self-aware. Weird deal, but he's not the first to deal with the yips.
  3. Wow Risario racked up a few hundred more steps on his fitbit with that route
  4. And the way he's pitching this year, that's more than fine with me.
  5. I don't care what the evaluators have said, we are actually seeing it for ourselves. He has no confidence in his change. He doesn't even know where his FB is going a lot of times, much less his slider or change. The talent is there, and he's a work in progress. I'm not going to act like I know if/when that will happen, we don't know. If he does, he could be a really good starting pitcher for many years. That has always been his ceiling. If not, he can't be a closer let alone a starter. Good news is, what we're seeing is his floor.
  6. Facebook likes? So at least we know soccer moms in every county are Brewer fans.
  7. Yah, they are in a great geographical location now. Too bad Maryville is terrible and the stadium is a dumpster. I lived in neighboring Glendale a few years after Maryvale Stadium was built and worked at Maryvale in the ticket office for a season. It was my favorite Spring Training Stadium at the time and I visited every park. It is probably still in my Top 5 even with all the newer built ones since then. I love the outfield lawn and the area down the 1B line to seek autographs from players as they head to the locker room. Maryvale Baseball Stadium is like a young baseball fan's dream in my opinion. Also, you posters that visited in your rental cars and haven't actually lived in this area are making out Maryvale to be like Compton or something. I actually think it's pretty offensive actually to anyone who has actually lived in the area. You probably don't realize it, but what you just said is probably pretty offensive to people actually living in Compton.
  8. Yea, does Villar have a huge value? No. But we don't know that he has NO value. Here is a player who put up really good numbers for an entire season, just last year. OBP, took walks, had some power, stole a ton of bases. So that talent is there, somewhere. It's why the Brewers gave him plenty of time to "get right" this season, and rightfully so. Maybe he figures it out again, maybe not, but there could be one or more teams that would be interested in finding out.
  9. The other issue is how do you count/track an AB where a bunt attempt is made on strike 1 and 2, then the hitter swings away and Ks are makes an out. Trying to bunt puts hitter in the hole 0-2, greatly decreasing odds of getting a hit or even advancing the runner for the rest of that AB. Bottom line, basically an unsuccessful bunt attempt but stats wouldn't count it that way. So, if you include that in any analysis, I would bet a sacrifice is successful at 70% at the very most and maybe close to 60%. But that's all we have to go on, opinion. But no matter how you slice it, bunting (generally speaking) is not the best choice outside of pitchers, of course. There are times where it's closer to a 50/50 call, but as others have said it comes down to game situation, who's up (and their ability to bunt) who's behind them in the order, etc. For example, the Pina non-bunt the other day was pretty close to 50/50 in my opinion. Close enough that I don't think either choice would have been "stupid" or "crazy."
  10. This battery of Drake/Susac is something to be cherished
  11. Santana, please find a a 1B glove before spring training next yr
  12. 3 more innings with 8 more relievers coming up, get comfortable
  13. Just can't afford to take that bat out of the lineup
  14. I can live with his defense though, the way he knocks the snot out of the ball. The bat plays.
  15. For the love of all that's holy can we please stop talking about a bunt from yesterday's game? Nobody's mind will be changed.
  16. What is that curvy number in the box score? I'm not a techy but all I recognize are zeros and ones.
  17. Broxton is just that inconsistent. If he could pull off that vudu magic, he should so it more often.
  18. Please let me know if the Dow will be up tomorrow.
  19. It's almost scary how every game has been just like this so far
  20. What did Auggie just say? I mean, even for him that was a sequence of rambling half-words. Something about Santfastbadaytodseehimbahclub? What??
  21. I'm sorry, what did I just read? Come on guys, let's get our stories straight. I thought that by not adding a significant piece at the deadline, we had destroyed the psyche of our team and jump started the post-ASG decline on offense. Now you're telling me that it had the opposite effect on the pitching staff? That's my point ; ) Probably should have been in blue. As you said, someone thought it would really shatter their psyche not to add a starting pitcher.
