  1. No, blame Jimenez. He's on the roster because he is out of options, simple as that. An inferior player starts the year for roster flexibility, and he's not the only one.
  2. Makes perfect sense for Rogers, doesn't make any sense for Clark. Clark isn't a future prospect, his time is now or never. A LH PH with some pop is something this team needs. I don't care if his defense is horrific, that's not his role.
  3. Great, so he won't be able to pitch at all in July/August, or any road games all year in AZ, TX, FL, Atlanta, etc.?
  4. Look, I'm not saying he's a lost cause based on what he did in Milwaukee last year, and ST this year. In fact, I'm not even saying he shouldn't be the 5th starter. It's time, and there really aren't any other options that would be better. With that said, I don't think it's fair to say he'll be fine, no problem, either. You can be optimistic, but there's no way of knowing he'll be just fine- especially with the way he's been pitching. He's been working on his other pitches, but obviously he's not comfortable with them yet. He hasn't been able to control them. So how confident do you think he'll be using those pitches in an actual MLB game? When in doubt, he'll go fastball and everyone knows it. And I still don't believe his fastball is live enough to rely on that alone.
  5. Fine line, in order to make the Tourney again they can't afford to lose to any cupcakes early on. So it's that balance between giving all these new guys playing time to see what they have vs winning games. But I think Bo has always made playing time decisions based on what players do in practice. You're right, a bunch of 6'7- 6'9 guys. Hoping Bo uses final scholarship on just about anyone over 6'10 and roll the dice he can develop him. Stone aside, I don't understand why more big men wouldn't want to play for Bo. More than anything else, you will learn how to shoot- which makes you automatically attractive to the NBA. They crave big men who can shoot.
  6. We're not talking about one ST start in the minors. We're talking about his performance since the day he was called up last year. His velocity is there, I doubt there is an injury. Yes, he's working on his secondary pitches. The problem is he hasn't been able to use them effectively. So April 1st he can magically command three pitches? Nobody (I don't think) is saying he's a lost cause. It's just that it's pretty clear to me he's not ready to be an effective MLB starting pitcher. That could change at any time, but right now it's nothing more than blind faith to expect him to give you 6-7 solid innings on a consistent basis.
  7. I was going to get into this after they win the Championship next week, but since you brought it up... I remember vividly when Leuer, Berggren, Breusiwitz, etc. left. OMG there is absolutely NOBODY on the front line. Frank Kaminsky is it, what a joke...he's horrible! Well, we know how that turned out. Now, this year's turnover is huge, no getting around that. But they rave about Happ, and I think Deering is for real also. That gives them 6 in the rotation. Add a freshman or two, maybe someone else who's been on the bench, and you have an 8 man rotation. No way will they be in the Final 4 again, but won't be surprised if they find a way to get back to the Tourney at least. Only thing that puzzles me is there is no 6'11", 7'0" type guy on the roster, or coming in the next recruiting class. Just seems odd they wouldn't have 1 or 2 of those guys to develop.
  8. It's not over-reacting. He didn't pitch well in his stint with the Brewers last season, now a horrible spring. His fastball was plenty good enough to dominate in AAA, but he is struggling with location, and also struggling with his secondary pitches. If you expect all that is suddenly fixed on Opening Day, great. I am concerned, especially since plans B and C for the #5 starter are even worse.
  9. I think Melvin was pretty clear, Perez has no options left and he wants guys in the pen that do.
  10. I said several pages ago Dekker needs to step up in the tourney, and boy has he ever. That was Carolina's best shot, while UW didn't play their best and still won. I highly doubt it, but I wonder if Bo plays some 1-3-1 zone after how poorly A handled that. Pretty tough to throw in a defense in one day, just would be interesting.
  11. Also, important to note he's still young. If he can be an effective LOOGY in MLB, that's a good start. It doesn't mean he won't eventually learn how to get RH bats out, and have a bigger role in the pen or even a starter again. Some guys figure it out, most don't. Just too early to tell, but I would be fine with 6 cheap years from a guy who can get lefties out on a regular basis.
  12. I would guess Sardinas/Herrara will both play 2B/SS, same with Arcia/Rivera in AA. Since it's unclear at this point where they will be needed, best for all of them to learn both positions.
  13. How do you see the IF shaping up after this season? ARam gone at 3B- so that's wide open. Lind just a place holder at 1B, and he can be moved easily in a deal. Then, you have Sardinas and Arcia waiting in the wings. Obviously, Scooter and Segura's performance will have a lot to do with any long term plans, but how do you see the IF in 2106,2017?
  14. Even the cynical side of me doubts they award favors or special requests. I do think they look for interesting match-ups. Coach vs his former team, Father/son coach vs each other, geography, etc. It just seems to have happened too often over the years to be a coincidence. I don't think they fool around with the seeds, but if you have a 10 seed that makes more of an interesting match-up in a certain bracket, they will move them there. I think I may have even heard a committee chairman admit that in the past, but not sure.
  15. I guess I would go with Gomez, Jimenez, and Clark to start with. Rogers needs to work on his defense at 1B/3B and get ABs every day. Same with Sardinas, he needs his ABs every day. At some point in the season, hopefully both of them will be up. Then the Petersons, Long, Herrera, Centeno, Herrera, and Schafer are in the wings for insurance/depth. I'm not blown away by the bench, but it's ok. Especially if/when Sardinas and Rogers can come up to contribute.
  16. That very well could have been the reason why you were rejected for the other four as well, usually you never know when that's the case. Really hard to give advice on what to so differently. I will say this, not that any of this necessarily applies to you. Now more than ever, employers can find a tremendous amount of information about you before you even walk in the door. Your social media, court records search, etc. Then, it's how you present yourself. Very common for guys these days to come in with earings, unkept facial hair, visible tats, etc. Does that make someone bad person? No. Do people make judgements on that, if only subliminal? Yes. Same goes for women with visible tats, piercings, "extreme hair sytles, etc. Depending on the company/job none of that may be an issue. But for most places, it is. Fair or unfair. All of that is actually just part of the problem I see, and hear all the times form others in hiring positions. The entitlement attitude of the 20-30 yr olds. As with anything, this is in general- of course there are many who don't fit this profile. But I see more and more applicants who don't dress/ present themselves professionaly, but even worse come in with that entitlement attitude. "I have done this/that, that so I should get this job." It's important than anyone interviewing focus on what you can do FOR the company. Obvious? Should be, but amazing how rare that is.
  17. If it's Toth, I can se why people would default to the "Moth" pronunciation- I know I would. Obviously your own boss should know better though!
  18. Is he the guy where the Brewers record was 89-1 (or something like that) in games he attended in person?
  19. I just think AZ has a better spring training atmosphere. Anywhere you go there are Brewer fans, other baseball fans. Friendly banter with Cubs fans, whether you're in Chandler, Scottsdale, or Glendale. It just seems to be more of an "event" in AZ. In Florida, it's almost like "oh, yea spring training is going on." It's just shoved way into the background in FL, whereas in AZ it's a major event.
  20. 7/8 and all my Final Four teams- UK, Arizona, Mich St, Duke. Didn't get tricky picking the champs, went with UK. Didn't do so well in early rounds, but IF I hit the end of the tourney I should be in great shape. Obviously Mich St would help a ton since I'm sure very few picked them. (Yes, got a lot of heat in my family for not picking Wisc to even go to the Final 4, much less win it.)
  21. You can't make a trip to Milwaukee and miss Kopp's Frozen Custard! Great frozen custard, but even better cheeseburgers. They have several locations.
  22. Something that just "is." Can't explain why it's funny, but think of it as seeing me mowing my lawn with shorts and dress socks on. Is that "wrong?" No, but people would snicker at me behind my back. Hey, I have much bigger fish to fry in this world than personalized jerseys. Just understand lots of people will snicker at anyone wearing a personalized jersey. If that doesn't bother you, cool. I liken it to how I used to drink PBR or Schiltz out in the parking lot before games. I would get a lot of crap, but I didn't care. Well...wouldn't you know now it's trendy.
  23. Circumstances behind the move would determine if I continued to be a fan or not. Current Bucks situation is a good example. Former and current ownership has bent over backwards to keep the team here. If the politicians can't figure out how to get the rest done, I don't blame the Bucks organization one bit, and I will continue to be a Bucks fan. If Miller Park never got built and the Brewers left, I would have remained a fan because the circumstances were very similar to the Bucks today. Now if Mark A just decided he got a great deal from Fargo and is moving the team, that's a different story. I would not remain a fan.
  24. When the alternative is Hector Gomez, it's not insanity. Young lefty hitters often struggle mightily against LHP early in their careers. Some get past it, some never do. But the only way they have a shot is to actually see more LHP. May be one step back, two steps forward. I do get I'm ignoring stats, and going by what I see/feel which is always dangerous. But I could see him as a guy capable of slapping enough balls to LF, and maybe one day driving the ball. Look, with all the middle IF they have now in the system, I don't even know if he's the long term answer at 2B. I'm willing to give it a shot, only because I don't believe having him face LHP instead of Hector Gomez is going to determine the season. Especially since we're only talking about the first 2-3 ABs each game. Do I want him up there in the 9th in a tie game vs LHP? No, I do not.
