  1. Wow, fun mtach to watch vs Ghana, but I don't see the U.S. getting very far. Watching other matches made me notice just how awful the U.S. was at controlling the ball. I know they were playing to hold the 1-0 lead, but that's no reason to give up the ball as easily and often as they did.
  2. Actually, it's about #5. There's no hurry to hire a new HC for this season, it will be another bad season no matter what. 1) Get momentum moving forward for new arena. Line up investors, think of creative tax strategies (hotel, car rental tax, etc.), 3D model of new arena and sorrounding area to give people something to be excited about. #1 because without new arena there is no Milwaukee Bucks. I could have easily separated this into #1,2 and 3 it is so important. 2) Get the draft right. #2 pick, plus 3 2nd round picks- a chance to really hit a HR. 3) Unload unwanted salary/personalities. This means you OJ and Larry. Pachlia and Irsan aren't horrible, but would be fine with moving that salary also. 4) Decide on GM. If there is a new GM, you want him picking the new HC. Otherwise you go through this whole exercise again in a couple years if he doesn't like the coach he inherits. 5) Now you can slot in new HC, although I would put new uniforms here.
  3. I don't want Estrada in the pen. Being a HR machine as a strater is one thing, but out of the pen is even worse. And you can't just hide him there and use him only for long relief. They're already using Wang for that, and SHOULD be using Kintzler in that role right about now. Only so many guys you can hide, someone has to actually...you know... pitch. Send him to Nashville and keep him in the rotation there. It's still a long season, and chances are he'll be back at some point. Either way, there are better option than him for both the rotation and the bullpen.
  4. Exactly. There are teams out there that simply need a serviceable, cheap guy in the rotation. We should know, the Brewers were one of those teams for years. Even if Nelson wasn't ready, I would put Fiers in the rotation over Estrada. (Although admitedly I would give Estrada a little more time to work it out in that case.) But Nelson is almost a no-brainer at this point. He is a better pitcher, and he is ready.
  5. If they get 3 lottery picks it needs to not involve next years pick as they will probably be pretty bad next year too. They will be pretty bad, but so will the draft. For example, a #14 pick in this year's draft is probably better than a #3 or 4 in next year's draft.
  6. Again, I agree it would be hard. Which is why it's not likely to happen. But in theory at least, wouldn't be too difficult. Trade the #2 to Philly for 3/10 or Orlando for 4/12. You may have to sweeten that deal a little, but very doable. So now you 2 lottery picks. The 3rd comes by trading any combination of your #31, first round pick next season, or players. Getting to say 13 or 14 could get done. So there you go. In a way, it wouldn't be that tough in theory. Problem is, you need the other parties involved to cooperate. I don't expect them to have 3 lottery picks, but I will be surprised if no move at all is made.
  7. Sure. Sanders, Henson, Knight, Sova, or combination of any of them. Plus, 1st pick in 2nd round is a very valuable pick this year. So they have plenty to throw around if they really want to have 3 lottery picks.
  8. Get $2MM now, and $200MM+ if you're a star in MLB. Or go play WR at Nebraska where you may never be heard from again. Best case, have a much shorter NFL career and make a fraction of the money,
  9. All Arcias are hot. Lil brother Orlando had 4 hits for Brevard tonight.
  10. Spend more time on the dark side, the non MLB side of the forum and become more educated! A win/win for all! Gilbert Lara discussion (rumored to have agreement in place w/Brewers, post #3) 2014 International Signing Thread Spend a lot of time on the MiLB side of the site too. Counting on you guys for the draft/intl stuff so I appreciate all the knowledge here. I'm too old to keep track of all 3!
  11. There's a thread devoted to him probably 6 threads below this one. You'll find out. 10 topics down to be exact from the pinned thread. Thanks brewcrew and SRB. I recall reading about a big potential international signing, name didn't ring a bell though. Looks like Chris McFarland won't last much longer on the bf.net top 20 prospect list.
  12. What's the story with Lara? Keeps seeing that name referenced.....
  13. Ok, so they went WR with Harrison...good pick
  14. Chris Borland here, they need a LB
  15. Medeiros and Gatewood are friends already ( to what degree I don't know), that's pretty cool too.
  16. Does Marco have any options left? Because I don't want a HR machine coming out of the pen. If Nelson takes his place in the rotation, I would rather he go to Nashville and be prepared to start if needed later in the season. It's troubling he doesn't have command over his change over the last 4-5 starts now. If he doesn't have that, he doesn't have much. My other question is, what limit does Nelson have on innings this year? If he comes up and pitched into October he would be on pace for 185 innings. And that's a conservative figure using 6 innings per start the rest of the season and no playoff appearances. Last year he had 158 innings. So, those are two things to consider. But, very simply, if Estrada stays this bad and Nelson stays this good you have to make the move right after the AS break at the latest.
  17. Not to be too picky, but those numbers include PH opportunities. They are not true 2B production numbers, but close enough.
  18. Latest rumor I heard from a source I trust, the Bucks are looking to position themselves for 3 lottery picks by giving up various picks and players. Obviously, everything would need to come together just right for that to happen, so I'm not expecting it. Not impossible either. But the Bucks would need to give up more than just their junk. A Sanders, Henson, or Knight would have to part of a deal I would think. But wow, that would be a fun draft night!
  19. Well, Molitor and Fielder were dumped early for financial reasons they didn't get anything back for them. Ben Sheets arm was done, so not sure how he ends up on this list. With that said though, I take your point. It always seems like YOUR team holds on to guys too long, makes too many outs on the bases, uses the bullpen incorrectly, etc. So I'll own that. Yo is a unique situation. I would never trade him this season just to get whatever you can. But if the deal was good enough, I would do it. Free up money, and replace him with Nelson makes too much sense. And I'm not too worried about rotation depth for the last 4 months of the season. Fiers, Smith, Thornburg gives you plenty of depth.
  20. Agreed. I would deal either Yo/Estrada if you get a good return for them. Would have tried to deal Yo before the season even started. Estrada costs less, and is versatile (starter/reliever) so I would prefer to move Yo. Some have said they would do this if they can pick up an Ace somewhere else. Why? Not sure one has anything to do with the other. There's no reason to believe Jimmy Nelson can't put up the same or better numbers as Yo. So you save money, get prospects in return, and have equal or better results having Nelson in the rotation over Yo. This organization is famous for hanging onto guys too long. They have already passed the line where Yo's value was at it's highest. That's ok, they got a couple more solid years out of him for a reasonable salary. I just rather get something for him now, then just letting his contract expire next year.
  21. Sorry guys, I guess I should have put my post in blue. Milwaukee Lakers and Memphis Squalor may been clues... ; )
  22. Black Jacks, although those are some really poor finalists. What would the logo be? Ace/King cards? Is the mascot some local pit boss?
  23. Surprised Ratterree didn't get a lot more votes, but the way he's coming on I expect he will make the next round. Plus, after the draft we should see a new name or two on the list. Also, looking for a bat in Huntsville to step out of the pack. Not much separation between Haniger/Rogers/Richadson/Davis, would love to see Haniger get real hot and show us he's the stud so many people seem to think he is.
  24. Why stop with color, uniform, and logo changes? Maybe it's time to change the name? It would be an opportunity to straighten out some team names. LA Lakers never made sense. Milwaukee Lakers would be perfect. Give New Orleans their Jazz back. Then LA and Utah can fight over Pelicans, Bucks, whatever they want. Maybe Utah Salties? LA Traffic? While we're at it, not sure how many Grizzlies are in Memphis. Memphis could take the Bucks name I suppose. Or Memphis Squalor
