Look at the big picture. It was the 2nd inning. One more potential run (Braun) wasn't the concern. Having Braun ripping a gapper or a HR and breaking the game open was the concern. So given that (along with how Braun has treated the Padres like Lebron treats the Bucks) it wasn't a bad decision to walk Braun.

I'm more impressed by Segura's plate discipline than anything else. For a young player, he really has am outstandin grasp of the strike zone.

It is beyond maddening. Pretty much started with FatterThanJoey and Brian leaving. They used to hold everyone accountable. Next you lose Pogo, Sessile, AndThat, Patrick, Russ and Sam and you just get a smorgasbord of nonsense, hindsight GM's, and kneejerkers. I think the best (and there are some really smart ones) of who's left are just tired of having to explain the same basic concepts over and over again. I searched past Rickie Weeks threads. There are multiple made every year going back to 2006. Most are negative of course. The ones that start positive, often are infiltrated by posters who hate strike outs. Seriously, why must Rickie be defended multiple times every single year? Do people not realize the state of MLB second baseman? Even at his very worst, there are not 15 second baseman I would trade him for. At his best, he is an all-star. Get over it already. Honestly, this strikes me as condescending. Just because there's a lot of people here who don't believe Weeks should be hitting 4th in the order, we're all so short-sighted and can't grasp the concept of small sample size. So what would YOU do? Keep him in the 4 hole until ARam is back, regardless of what he's doing at the plate? And if he is still struggling at the current pace, do you actually move him up to #1 or #2 when ARam returns? It's no longer a small sample when he hit at this level the entire 1st half of the year last year, now he's on the same pace again this year. You may not agree with moving him down the line-up until his bat gets going again, but don't act like it's a crazy knee-jerk reaction. Just seems like you set up a straw man argument. The consensus is move him down the line-up, not DFA him or run him out of town. Yet you seem to position it as everyone hates Weeks, and you are the voice of reason, I apologize if I'm taking it the wrong way.

Funny how pitchers (especially SP) either throw 95 MPH+ or they are "command pitchers." There are many differences between pitchers who don't rely on a big fastball. Movement, hitting corners, at least one "plus" pitch other than aFB, ability to throw 3 or more poitches for strikes, etc. There's not just one type of pitcher who throws a 90 MPH FB. This is not meant to go against with what you said Briggs, in fact it's meant to piggy-back on your comments. Truth is, a ton of successful SP currently and historically did not have a 95 MPH FB. But these guys are all lumped together as "control pitchers" as if that's a negative or something.

Yes, I would still complain, but not as much. Weeks salary dictates he does more than take walks to clear the pitcher's spot. But right now, I would take that over striking out in the clean-up spot.

VUDU + HULU is probably the best option right now. VUDU has most of the new releases, I have streamed a lot of them in HD and haven't had any problems. HULU has all the TV shows, etc. An option for new releases is your cable or dish provider but it's generally $1 more or (for TWC) and not as big of a selection for new releases. Blockbuster used to have a nice service where you could stream on BluRay, but they stopped providing that recently. Plus, you could exchange discs at a local Blockbuster store. (I was lucky enough that they still had one close to me.) But none of that is an option anymore, so I'm going with the VUDU/HULU option now. Not sure why Neflix is so popular with everyone, I just dont see what I'm getting for it. They offered free 30 days so I could see House of Cards (whish is excellent) Then I cancelled.

I have no problem letting Weeks ride it out. He should just be riding it our much lower in the order. Lucroy seems like the most logical choice to hit 4th. And no, I wouldn't even mind Maldanado hitting 4th on days Lucroy is off. Hitting behing Braun, at least both of those guys generally have good ABs.

Yea, was just going to say, once Hart is back and swinging the bat well, I would move Hart to lead-off, seems to thrive there. Aoki isn't the worst option there, but I would move him down to the 7 or 8 spot.

Good effort? Jennings showed up, Ellis showed up on offense (horrible effort on defense.) Sanders, Sova, Dunleavy, and Redick were no-shows. To beat the best team in the NBA, you need more than 1 and 1/2 players to show up.

I was actually wondering the same thing, only about Ferguson. I know most people have a "meh" attitude towards him, but I really saw him as an athletic guard with a little length to him, and think he'll develop nicely. Would he still be at MU if he knew Blue and Anderson were leaving? Who knows, but something tells me we'll be hearing from him again at tourney time with VCU or somebody.

Yea, same rule all the way down through High School (maybe even Little League) Learned the hard way many years ago arguing with an ump in High School, so that made an impression.

Drinking and drunk are two different things. I will generally have 2 beers a game, finishing the 2nd by mid game. I would guess that's pretty typical, not to mention the many people who don't drink at all. Opening Day (amateur day) is much higher percentage i'm sure, but still nowhere close to 50% drunk drivers. A typical brewers game, yea, I would guess several hundred over the limit drivers. Not thousands. At least I hope that's true.
