  1. Those picks will not be ready any time soon. Best case scenario is they are ready June 2013. More likely is that anybody picked in the next draft wouldn't be ready until June 2014. This trade leaves a gap in talent and a bad year or 2.Or, optimistically, we extend both Greinke and Marcum, and our rotation is awesome for the forseeable future until we have other players come up through the system.True but I think we are hoping for a lot asking for extensions for Weeks, Marcum and Greinke.

  3. I wouldn't mind the money going for pitchers as long as they are not getting CC or Lee size per year deals.
  4. Luis Cruz as SS and Gomez in CF. I feel lunch coming back up.
  5. What the heck is a relish tray? The only relish I know of is the pickle relish I put on brats. So I would like to see brats on a relish tray. Sorry I can't be more helpful.
  6. What I hate is when somebody posts all of a tweet then posts a link to that tweet and you click on it only to see what you just read again. Ranks right up there with those "click to enlarge" pictures that you click on and it opens another window with the same picture the exact same size it was before. If that's the case we are not getting Betancourt in return with Greinke. I find a deal including Odorizzi much more plausible.
  7. It doesn't erase all his value but there were already questions about his bat and he fell completely flat. His value was all in his glove and that looked shaky as well. I think that #12 ranking was overinflated.
  8. This looks like a pretty sucky deal for the Royals. The only player that we would be giving up is Cain. He is by no means a sure thing. Jeffress looks like a reliever right now and Escobar like a no-hit all glove SS. or what colbyjack said.
  9. Can he really be any worse than Escobar at this point? I realize it's only Winter League, but Escobar's performance isn't making me want to see him locked in as the starting shortstop right now.I am not fan of Escobar but Cruz doesn't have an OBP over .300 at any level of the minors except A+ ball. His career year was this year was this year with a line of .309/.414/.723. He is a realty really bad hitter who has no place on our team. If Escobar is a bad hitter Cruz is even worse. I would refrain from making any decisions at all looking at winter league stats. Escobar tore up the winter league last year.
  10. This winter scares the crap out of me. I will be very disappointed if we have to watch Luis Cruz on the MLB club.
  11. [quote author=Ennder wrote: [/b] Now if he would only stop swinging at 40% of the pitches that are thrown to him that are out of the strike zone maybe he could get to replacement level offensively. The problem is that he has shown absolutely no indication that he will stop swinging at those pitches. Sure he does, as long as he never has a bat in his hands.
  12. That is the lineup I would go with except insert the pitcher ahead of Escobar. That isn't going to happen though so I prefer to talk about what is likely. There is almost no way we see a lineup with Braun and Fielder anywhere except 3 and 4. That is just how MLB managers work. The most likely lineup will be Weeks Hart Braun Fielder McGehee and some combination of Lucroy, Cain and Escobar in the 6-8 spots. My guess is Lucroy 8 since he actually takes walks.
  13. I think we have seen that Melvin will cut his losses on bad players even at great cost. He did get rid of Hall and Suppan.
  14. He is young and has potential. That said, I also want him to go away. I feel his potential is to tempting for managers to just let the guy sit. He sucks.
  15. I find it amusing that somebody with the screen name "hotdog" is talking about a 3-way. I would say this tread is officially derailed but it looks like it was never on the rails to begin with.
  16. Do you mean the Katin who has had exactly one good year in the minors in his 3rd trip to AAA?
  17. What happened last year was we had a bad team. The other problem is we went into the season with a designated closer and stuck with him longer than we should have. Closers are easy to come by. The trick is knowing when to cut your loses and move on to the next guy. Also know when to sell high like we did with Kolb.
  18. Sweet. That means we can't sign him.
  19. That is quite a drop. He went from being almost MLB ready as a starter a year ago to almost nothing.
  20. It really doesn't fit your requirement for a good story but I would go with Borderlands. I just got done playing Borderlands and all it's expansions. It is a shooter with some RPG elements. DAO Awakenings is only an expansion so I don't think it will keep you busy all winter.
  21. Finally got around to starting DAO: Awakenings. I now remember why I liked it so much. I only intended to play for 2 hours which of course turned into 5. I can't wait for DAO 2.
  22. O my gosh no. Cruz is terrible.
  23. I missed Hoffman. $4m is correct. I am not sure when they budgeted it either.
  24. I think there is something like $4m in buyouts. $3.5m I guess $2m Suppan $1m Davis $250,000 Riske $250,000 Zaun
  25. why would the Brewers do that? To get a good player back in trade.
