  1. Very true... but with our new manager I wonder whether or not Gomez would actually get sent to AAA to try & figure things out. Hopefully he doesn't see Gomez' tools and think he can actually do anything. Gomez would of course have to pass through waivers to go to AAA. From Gomez comments I have little or no faith he will change his approach to improve. Maybe it was all false bravado but he seemed to think he was entitled to the starting CF job. I have many worries about RRR and the biggest one is seeing a lineup topped by Escobar and Gomez/Cain. Gomez has been benched by at least 2 different managers at this point and has shown nothing to indicate he thinks his approach is the problem. I really hope he at some point fulfills his promise but I have grown tired of him.
  2. Yup, just off a playoff performance with a slew of promising minor leaguers and a stacked AA team. Huntsville 2008, Michael Brantley, Cole Gilespie, Mat Gamel, Alcides Escobar, Omar Aguilar, and Angel Salome to name a few. Since then, no significant contribution from the minor leagues. A couple scrap heap guys in Axford and McGehee. The minors have almost completely failed us.
  3. A few years ago I thought Hardy would be a FA and the SS of the future for the Yankees.
  4. If Salome had lived up to his 2008 season and not completely fallen off the map.
  5. That is kind of the theory behind how the Brewers were currently built. At least I believe it was anyway. Draft hitters high and you are taking safer picks than pitchers. Higher chance to contribute at the MLB level. Melvin, despite his detractors has put together mostly solid pitching staffs outside of 2009 and 2010.
  6. I didn't think Hoffman would take a deal with us either because he still wanted to close. I was afraid to post that though and jinx us.
  7. That sort of sucks as a platoon split.
  8. or you know keep him for picks. I will not be to worried about being stuck with Fielder until Spring Training.
  9. I wouldn't mind Duke on a AAA contract with a big league invite. His K rate sucks but he would be ok as depth.
  10. 5 years max on any contract. Preferably 3-4 depending on the age.
  11. My wife had the Guinness Foreign Extra Stout over the weekend and she said it was better than what we get over here. We had a Sam Adams sampler last weekend. Not impressive at all. I like the Irish Red and my wife liked the Oktoberfest. It had a dunkelweisse. My wife liked the homebrew dunkelweisse better. She drank that and left the Sam Adams for me. Gee, thanks honey. Watched the Brewmasters show on Discovery. I liked it. 16 weeks(9 actually once they got started on the test batch) to turn a beer from concept to selling it in stores is pretty quick. Actually brewing has given me a lot more hands on knowledge of what the ingredients will do.
  12. I wasn't to impressed with Jeffress control. I didn't watch him to closely but that is what stuck out to me.
  13. He already does.
  14. Their boss just moved to a new job. I guess it is to much to hope for change.
  15. At least he is only the second most deluded person according to the survey over at Fangraphs. Ouch.
  16. Witrado was the same person who called Fielder a bully last year(or the year before) if I am not mistaken. The only thing I am pretty sure of with Witrado is that he doesn't lke the Brewers and he takes any opportunity he can to take shots at them.
  17. Where has Milwaukee's pitching staff ranked year by year through the Melvin tenure? I don't believe it has been to bad outsie of the last 2 years.
  18. 42" is pretty small from that distance.
  19. Seems like just yesterday that Barmes was a hot rookie SS.
  20. Also be prepared to spend money on HDMI cables. I have heard you shouldn't waste money on expensive cables. You either get a signal or you don't.
  21. I would do more research into 120 vs 240. I believe that tv comes to your house at 30 fps and movies are shot at 24 fps. I think the big difference between 120 and 60 was with films did not line up properly with the 60 tvs.
  22. An up the middle guy who will probably get half of what Fielder has been asking. Sign him. $12m a year for even a half year of Weeks is a good deal. I think I said it around Spring training this year but we can sign Weeks and Hart for what Fielder is asking.
  23. If Gomez thinks he should be starting I think he is more trouble than he is worth. If he accepts a backup role and we have a manager smart enough to leave him in a backup role, he could be very useful. On the other hand, I believe his production could easily be replaced by any number of guys. Get a guy like Dickerson who hits from the right side. We seem to be able to find decent outfielders cheap every year.
  24. [quote author=obsessedwithbrewcrew wrote: [/b]It's amazing how much consistency Bo has brought to the program. Now if they could just be a little less dissapointing in March.
  25. I also think it is way to early to be worried much about charater development. We have had basically 3 episodes of setting up the rules of the world and introducing characters. The main character was a "white hat" guy and has only just been dropped into the world.
