  1. why he is our backup catcher is beyond me. Maybe his left handed bat complements our starter.http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  2. Like maybe putting Edmonds #2? I would love to see Braun sandwiched by 2 lefties. Gomez' speed is also better leveraged in the bottom of the order with the singles hitters.
  3. And one of those seasons he was purty awful. Worse than Suppan. and the other was really good.
  4. Funny, I just posted something very similar in the "What's bugging you?" thread. I was personally sick of all the Tiger coverage before his press conference.
  5. This looks like very good advice. Especially the bolded part. Always document anything even if it is just a note with a time and date. This other person sounds like somebody who would cause trouble and documenting things will help. Write things down while they are fresh in you mind. It will ook better later if you run into any problems with the police.
  6. I have had problems with my back or neck for days after sleeping wrong or having a crappy pillow. I don't think it is totally ridiculous that he hurt himself because of a bad pillow. His pitching on the other hand, well there is a whole other thread on that.
  7. The Tiger Woods coverage is way overdone. Even my wife is tired of it and she doesn't watch any sports channels.
  8. I just have a problem and think it is kind of pathetic to have a bobble of a guy who is still playing for a different team. I wouldn't wear a shirt with the name of a player for a different team and I even box up my bobbles for players until they retire. Carlos Lee is in the closet and will stay there until he retires or returns to the team. Honestly I am a little tired of the CC hero worship as well.
  9. The old Oriole Way included using young pitchers as long relief specialists while they learned the league, then working them into the rotation over time. It's not such a bad thing to do this with Narveson and Parra. Except Parra has already pitched almost 2 complete seasons as a starter for the Brewers.
  10. If it has to be a player playing for a different team now how a bout a Sheets bobblehead instead. All he did that year was pitch well enough to be named the All Star game starter and pitch through an injury that cost him a year of his career instead of shutting it down early. Without him we are not in a position to make trading for CC worthwhile.
  11. Last information we had put our TV contract at about $10M. Are they saying corporate sponsorships at $10M?
  12. Wow, I felt bad for RIT about halfway through the 2nd period. We thoroughly dominated them. I have no idea how they beat Denver. They looked like a team that would be bottom dwellers in the WCHA.
  13. I don't think Gallardo will get the 6 points he needs to void the option. I also think we really didn't save much money. The only real benefit is the FA year we bought out. I wish we had bought out at least 2 with an option. Overall not to bad of a deal. We are taking on quite a bit of risk for minimal benefit in my opinion.
  14. It looks more like a bobble of Michael Jackson in a Brewers uniform. I want no part of CC as a bobble, magnet or anything else. I appreciate what he did, but he left for more money(and I don't blame the guy for that, it was a good decision). He is barely a Brewer in my mind. Just a guy playing out the string until he got paid. I am a Brewers fan. CC is a Yankee.
  15. I think you have to let your guy do his thing when you hire a manager. I just wish Melvin would quit giving the kid sharp things to play with.
  16. The Pirates GM was just on Mike and Mike and explained his payroll will gradually rise as the talent does. He wants to spend money wisely instead of just throwing away overspending on free agents. He went on to say they spend all the money they get on developing talent. He mentioned they spent the most on drafted players over the last 2 years. He also mentioned building a baseball academy somewhere(I forget where). He explained that they had to do things this way and the MLBPA probably would prefer the money be spent at the MLB level. I makes sense to me that they would spend money this way because that is what they have to do to become and remain competitive.
  17. I think every team generally has to cover 20+ starts with a 6th+ stater every year as well.
  18. Parra also had a 4.39 ERA just the previous year. It was as low as 4.03 before his last couple starts where he seemed to hit a wall just like more than a few posters predicted before the year started. Why does that year constantly get ignored? He was head and shoulders better than Suppan that year. Let's stop using only one year to look at Parra just because it supports the argument for Suppan. That is what Macha seems to be doing and I can excuse that to some extent since he has only been here for a year. I see no reason for any Brewers fan who has followed the team for more than a year to keep ignoring 2008. If Peterson is as good as advertised, he should be able to find some way to get Parra back into the low 4's for ERA.
  19. Braden Looper and Doug Davis. Obviously different circumstances though. I like getting Gallardo for a while. He is the guy I was more interested in extending over Fielder. I really don't see him as a #1 right now but he is a very good pitcher and having him and another guy or two as good would give us a very solid rotation. He is our ace, but I prefer an ace to be more of a workhorse. Gallardo isn't that guy right now.
  20. I see them now. It is still no reason to question the intelligence of the entire board. Issue should have been taken with those specific posts. Suppan may have been better than Parra last year but Parra was much better than Suppan the year before. Going on one year is a bad idea. The problem I have is that Suppan has no upside. At best we can expect a 5+ ERA and probably much closer to 5.50. With Parra and Narveson there is at least the potential to have a low 4 ERA.
  21. I guess I missed where anybody wanted the Brewers to lose. I saw somebody post about Suppan getting shelled in the minors, but I don't think winning in the minors is really all that important. The minors is for getting ready for the big team. I also saw lots of questioning of the decision making behind putting Suppan in the rotation. I also see no problem with that. Suppan may be a really really nice guy but I really don't care. He is a poor pitcher. Even that wouldn't matter but we have better options.
  22. Generally sample sizes are to small and any given player's numbers with RISP are all over the place year to year. It is usually better to assume average hitting stats. I am sure Russ mentioned it but one of the things that needs to be considered with the sac bunt is the element of surprise. Gomez bunting as much as he does makes bunting less of a surprise and makes it less likely to be successful. Same with Macha having the pitchers bunt as much as they do. Except he kind of sucks at blocking balls so far.
  23. Yep, that's still bugging me half an inning later. Once Rickie got to second, let Gomez swing away. Especially up 2-0. It looked like he may have done that on his own. I really don't have much problem with him trying to bunt for a hit although I would have preferred him actually swinging.
  24. McGehee, Zaun, Gomez and Escobar are pretty interchangeable in the lineup according to CHONE projections. The main thing seems to be getting Weeks, Fielder, Braun and Hart in the top 5 somewhere. The one thing that really brings things down is putting Edmonds in instead of Hart. 668 runs. Just shuffling guys around you usually end up around 685+ runs as long as you don't go crazy and don't put the pitcher higher than 7 or have Fielder and Braun at the bottom. I think you could make a case for Escobar, Gomez or Zaun being the worst hitter. Zaun being older and likely to decline somewhat while the other 2 are young and likely to improve. 25. Not that Cuzzi has done anything wrong yet, but I seem to remember him as one of the umpires I don't like.
