  1. Macha seems to be doing much the same thing Yost did if you look at how he is using Hall and McGehee. Different manager many of the same mistakes.
  2. Is it just me or are there a larger number of fans going after fair balls in Miller Park this year. Know the rules people.
  3. Having lived in neither city, I have to go with Milwaukee being easier to navigate for outsiders. It is logical and mostly in grids. It doesn't have streets that lead you in a circle to one way streets going the opposite way that you want to go. If you know where you want to go in Madison and have been there before, it is fine. If you are trying to go somewhere new, you need to consult a map and allow for at least one wrong turn and 30 minutes of extra drive time.
  4. I think they are. It keeps getting repeated that it is just a stupid decision and that it isnt' physically addictive so that claiming addiction is lame. A mental addiction has been dismissed repeatedly. A gambling or alcohol addiction is believable, but nobody can be mentally addicted to marijuana?
  5. So are you guys trying to say that there is no such think as a mental addiction?
  6. Not sure how much of a wheat the Leinies beers really are. They say Weiss, but the only one I might really think of as a wheat beer is Sunset Wheat.
  7. Why are we still assuming McGehee will play better defense than Gamel? It seems similar to a Weeks vs Durham discussion. One guy has limited range and the other will make mistakes. The guy with limited range is playing on a bum knee no less. Remember it took Ned Yost getting fired for an anemic Rickie Weeks to finally get benched. Ned played them well. Sveum ran Durham into the ground by playing him every day. He should have stuck with the platoon Ned was using. Weeks put up pretty good numbers from July on. He was one of our best hitters in September.
  8. There seem to be suggestions that Hall is somehow better than he was last week though when the prevailing notion was that Hall should be DFA'd.
  9. I think many agree with you. I believe that I posted that the hitter should wait for a good pitch to hit. Obviously he got a good pitch to hit. I disagreed with "expanding the zone" except for maybe Braun who hits almost any pitch well.
  10. My opinion hasn't changed. He should play against LHP and be a defensive replacement.
  11. Not all of hits were singles either though. His OPS is still pretty sad looking, but only 5 hits makes a big difference.
  12. Those 5 hits, if they are all singles, add about 47 points of OPS. That is a huge swing. How much did those 5 hits add last night?
  13. Is McGehee really a dramatically better defender than Gamel though, especially when McGehee is playing on a bum knee and ankle? I have my doubts about McGehee being a better option with the bat than Gamel. The only arguement to play McGehee over Gamel is if he is a much better fielder. I'm not sure why anyone thinks Gamel is a better option than either incumbent. I am not sure why anybody thinks McGehee is a better hitter than Gamel when his best year since 2006 is an OPS of .774 in AAA. Third go around in AAA no less. There is little to suggest(stats form only this season) we should expect McGehee to hit better than Gamel.
  14. With McGehee so hot I can understand him playing every day I can go along with Macha if he is playing McGehee if he legitimately thinks McGehee is a better player than Gamel or our other alternatives. If Macha is playing him just because he is hot, Macha is making a huge mistake.
  15. Which one is Macha using though? His use of Hardy seems to indicate he is using results.
  16. I'll concur about the uncomfortableness of the stadium bowl. If you were in the sun (we weren't) you baked. If you were in the shade, it was just a warm air bubble all around you. No air flow on such a windy day. I was very surprised. That is an odd contrast to the game I went to in May where we got cold because they let the air flow through.
  17. I read up up them a little bit and most of the information seems to indicate that unless the humidity is under 30% they are not going to cool much.
  18. Playing the hot hand is almost without fail going to lead to playing a guy past his hot streak in a better spot of the batting order and playing a guy at the start of a hot streak in a lower spot in the batting order. If you are lucky, the hot/cold streaks will be very long. Your best bet is to ignore hot/cold streaks and play whoever you think is the best player. I don't have a problem with small movement in the batting order because of hot streaks. One or 2 spots in the batting order.
  19. We have won more than our fair share of "90% probability of losing" games over the last couple weeks.
  20. They would have had to leave Gamel in because he was the last infielder with Hall and Counsell already used up.
  21. Macha shows his love of Kendall again. I hope he doesn't get burned by his use of Kendall.
  22. Outfield maybe? Their outfield has put up some pretty poor numbers. Edit: Although he probably isn't likely to be much better than anybody out there now. Looks to be a elow average defender in the OF as well.
  23. They may have been sidegrades. But it would have shown effort. I never understand this "showing effort" stuff. Why do something if it isn't going to help anyway? You waste resources without getting better. Sure some fans will feel better, but who cares if the team doesn't get better.
  24. Thank goodness CC turned us down as well. His contract could very easily have been franchise crippling. We would have even had to pay him in a couple down years when we will not have much for hitters.
