    Hart had the third most RBIs for the Brewers last year(almost 100!). He had a horrible year. I guess what I am trying to say is that almost any player with a bat will get RBIs if put in a favorable spot in the order.

    I'm not in the "acquire Pierre camp", but that's a poor comparison IMO. Maybe if you said LH and a lot more speed than Kendall.His speed allows him to get a few more hits and SB. His hitting is very Kendallish.

    It sure would. Putting another good OBP guy there instead would probably lead to more runs though.

    He isn't on the 40-man roster so I would guess it is unlikely he gets a September call up.

    I think that Gamel will probably be better than any hitter we have right now not named Fielder or Braun. The only other player we currently have who might be better in the near future might be Weeks. Most reports indicate that Lawrie will be a very good hitter as well. Both of our catching prospects could probably outhit Kendall. A small step back going from Hardy to Escobar and a bigger one going from Cameron to whoever. As long as Fielder and Braun stay around together, we will probably improve offensively in most spots. I would be little more open to signing Fielder for a couple of his free agent years if the market stays the same. Although his defense seems to have improved, guys who couldn't field well didn't get as big of contracts as expected last offseason. To be honest, even without Fielder I think our offense will be better than average.

    Now that you mentioned it, I seem to recall there being signs that indicated it was an R & D series beer and probably why I thought it might change periodically. I thought the Golden Ale got better as it warmed up. My wife thought it tasted like floor cleaner, but she only drank it cold. I would drink it again, but I doubt I would buy more than one unless it comes out at the regular New Glarus price for beer. It was $8 a bottle. It was a pint but still a little steep for regular consumption.

    Yup, I know. The lead post talked about next season. We are not paying Ned next season.

    They already do a fairly good job of defining how well a player fields balls they get to. It is easy to tell if a guy gets an out when they get to a ball. The big problem has always been range. The argument almost always comes down to who is better the guy not making mistakes and a guy with far superior range making more fielding mistakes(not errors those are a horrid way to look at defense). The problem is trying to sort out who would convert more balls in play into outs.

    I think Ned would be pretty dumb to take the job. Managers are judged a lot on their results and taking a job with a losing team or a team that isn't expected to win much anytime soon should only be done if you are trying to break into MLB as a manager. On the other hand, the money is much better than sitting around fishing all summer.

    Suppan is not and was not Reggie White, that acquisition didn't signal anything either Milwaukee still isn't an attractive destination for FAs because they'll chase the money, almost without exception. We'll get mid tier players, like we have since Suppan, but nothing more in FA, we just don't have the resources to win a bidding war against the big boys. Both signings showed a change in attitude and direction of the franchise. Obviously one player was an elite talent in the league and the other was an average at best player. We are now considered a good place to play by free agents when all other things are equal. That wouldn't be the case previous to the Suppan signing. I know you will probably argue that building a good team from within made this a good free agent destination and I will agree that is part of it, but if we didn't sign Suppan or some other free agent we would be Minnesota. How often do they come up as players in the FA market? Obviously we can't compete with the big boys, but few can and that isn't going to change any time soon.

    This really should have it's own game thread. The game just got exciting. I don't think Escobar has even hit a ball out of the infield yet.

    So you are saying attendance isn't the issue? Or are you saying that the attendance and the fact they play in a really poor facility are both issues?

    Does it seem like the Brewers are pushing for a new park? Maybe I missed it, but it doesn't seem like Ash mentioned a new park, he just wants the city to support the team better.

    After the break we should look pretty good right up until we hit September.

    It would help eliminate or reduce the main problem with most defensive metrics which is their failure to account for defensive positioning before the pitch.

    It's easy to point to Macha's distaste for the sac bunt, but Yost never really seemed to like bunting, either. I don't understand how anybody can say that Macha has a distaste for the sac bunt. He sac bunts all the time with his pitchers. Sac bunting with anybody esle, even Kendall, is mostly a losing strategy unless you only need one run.

    Went to New Glarus and walked around their Hilltop Brewery on Friday. Not really much of a tour, more of a roped and walled off area where you can wander around while you drink a beer. I guess they are getting an audio tour in the next month or so. They have a big tasting room and a patio area where you can drink your samples. Very nicely landscaped brewery. They also have a small beer shop at the front of the place. Not a great tour, but what made it worth while and one reason I will 100% be going back. Golden Ale. A special brew only available at the Brewery. I am not sure if this is the only special beer they bottle or if they periodically brew a different special beer and sell it only at the brewery. I intend to find out. Oh, by the way 7.0% ABV.

    I was honestly surprised Gamel didn't make the top 50, but I don't think they put as much work into this list as the offseason ones Gamel is no longer eligible. He has to much time in the Majors. Link
