  1. I have to say that I am disappointed that people can't accept the fact that other people might have addictive personalities. Just because some people can smoke pot every day for years and give it up doesn't mean anything. Just because marajuana doesn't have a physical addiction doesn't mean it can't be addictive to certain individuals.
  2. I have to say that while marijuana itself may not be addictive, anything is addictive to somebody with an addictive personality. A marijuana addiction might be similar to a compulsive gambling addiction.
  3. I think the moderation is fine. All you really have to do is put some thought into your posts and refrain from calling people names. I have to add that I like the fact that there is no longer a vent thread. To be honest, there are plenty of other forums to post at if you don't like the rules here.
  4. Good thing our GM didn't get to hung up on something like that.
  5. Picked up Central Waters Brewery Whitewater Weizen. It's ok not great. Not likely to pick it up again. Went to the Great Dane in Fitchburg today. I like the location a little better than the downtown. Unfortunately their beer selection is a bit smaller than their other locations. I didn't find the Watermelon beer, not surprising. The service was great, again not surpeising for a Friday afternoon. We tried just about everything they had. What stood out for us was the Texas Roadbump IPA. The reason it stood out is because we are not really fans of IPA.We also tried the Oatmeal Stout ans Maibock. The Maibock was ok and we thought the Oatmeal Stout was a little weak/thin. Nothing bad, just not great. I of course brought home the Crop Circle Wheat and my wife the Black Earth Porter.
  6. Michael Scott's top ten dumbest moments. Link
  7. Nice slide by Counsell. I thought he was dead at the plate. The throw beat him by 10 feet.
  8. Now we need to score 7 runs in this inning so it doesn't seem like a wasted inning.
  9. Have to imagine this completely ruins his trade value. At this point all you can do is hope the kid gets his habit under control and doesn't riun his whole life.
  10. Better get him to the majors before he gets a lifetime ban.
  11. I have to say I am surprised how serious A-Ram's shoulder injury is. It didn't look like much when it happened. You see guys dive like that all the time. He must have landed just wrong.
  12. As long as it's 17-15, not 15-17. I just finished a crummy work week and my spirits could really use a happy Brewers ending tonight.Don't they usually list the home team score last? Are you saying you want the Brewers to lose?http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  13. Not sure how much Cameron's range would help cover up Dunn's defensive deficiencies. He can barely field balls hit right at him. I am surprised he ins't a 1B yet.
  14. It did seem to be a weird and inconsistent strike zone the whole game. Considering the umpire crew, that isn't surprising at all. We had the umpire crew of death this series.
  15. Is it wrong that I don't care since it's not a PED? Is it wrong that I wouldn't care even if it was a PED.
  16. Macha follows up a nice looking lineup with a questionable start of McGehee at 3B. I thought Gamel was supposed to be the starter at 3B now.
  17. But my point is that if the short end of the platoon is horrible against RHP, then you are ultimately defeating the purpose. I thought the whole purpose of a platoon was to play guys with bad platoon slits against favorable pitching matchups.
  18. The Book gives the required number of PA against LHP before this occurs as 2000 for RHB and 1000 for LHB. In his entire major league career, Bill Hall has so far amassed just 841 PA against LHP. So Hall is not yet even halfway to having faced enough LHP that we can assume (statistically speaking) that his so far observed wider-than-normal platoon splits are a persistent attribute of Bill Hall as a hitter. I thought the Book said that you need to regress the platoon split of an individual player with 1000 or 2000 PA of league average platoon splits. Where in the heck did I say I want to give up production for the first three at-bats? Now you're just putting words in my mouth. My argument is that when a player is so horrible against RHP (like Bill Hall) they can't be an effective major league player, much less a platoon mate You just said he can't be a platoon mate. Earlier you said he can't be a MLB player. Every scenario you bring up seems to point to you thinking that Hall can't be a good platoon mate.
  19. I don't understand why you would want to give up production for 3 at bats per game because you are worried about an at bat that may or may not mean anything. It is very easy to bring in a pinch hitter late in games if the situation dictates.
  20. the defense vastly improved The defense was vastly improved last year. They may be slightly better this year but what you said underestimates last year's defense.
  21. I guess if you think Hall and McGehee are the players they have shown this year that makes sense as long as you ignore everything before this year.
  22. I believe Don Money questioned whether Salome would even be ready for the majors by 2011.
  23. Everybody loves to tout the fact that Bill Hall mashes lefties, and I will not deny that (minus this year). But looking at his numbers against lefties in a vacuum completely ignores the fact that he has gotten 117 at-bats against righties this season, which is more than double the amount of at-bats he has gotten against left-handed hitters. What that should tell you is that Hall has been misused this season. I think the coaching staff needs to stop trying to make Hall an everyday player and accept the fact that he is the small half of a platoon and defensive replacement at best. If Hall is on the roster, he needs to play against LHP. I agree. I would rather it be at 2B though. I would rather see Gamel vs LHP than McGehee.
  24. Never said they would have won with Kendall lower in the order. Just didn't get a chance to post about the poor lineup sooner.
  25. Let me see if I have this right. In our lineup tonight we have two guys who are not going to get moved in the lineup. Braun Fielder Four guys who over their careers and more importantly starting with 2006 have hit LHP very well. Hart Hardy Hall Cameron One guy who we don't know much about except he had ok MiLB numbers and is hitting well this year. McGehee One guy who is our worst hitter on the team and has almost no platoon split to speak of. Kendall and of course the pitcher. Who leads off you ask. Well the worst possible option outside of the pitcher of course. If Macha =Superman then Kendall=Kryptonite. Macha has done well so far outside of his lineup decisions.
