  1. The Great Dane's Brat and Bacon Pretzel Burger - brat patty and burger patty served with bacon and cheddar cheese on a soft pretzel bun - I am going to be eating one of these in a few hours Red Robin Blue Ribbon Burger
  2. Usually I use either Johnsonville or Klements brats since they are easy to find. I always buy the uncooked ones. Typically I bring the beer to a boil before dropping the brats and whole sliced onion in. This last time I let the brats and onion soak in the beer for an hour before putting them on the stove to simmer for 30-45 minutes. They turned out pretty well. I am not sure if boiling before or after is better. I have heard it both ways. I usually boil(simmer technically I guess) before for the sake of convince. It is tough to simmer in beer after while tailgating. Also a little difficult when you are grilling since you would almost have to grill twice if you are grilling more than brats. I would recommend adding a grilling tag to this thread. I know it is up there. There is a nice thread with a few good recommendations for grilling stuff including beer butt chicken.
  3. By the way, anyone else digging Provus' "Back, track, wall and GONE!" homerun calls? No, I think it is lame. He seems good otherwise.
  4. Fair enough, I will stand behind it -- Let me hear what you have. Originally I was going to suggest than if Kendall hits better than Looper, Parra, or Yo over the entire year you no longer post here. If any of those 3 guys hit better than Kendall over the entire year then I no longer post here. If any go down with injury and miss half or more of the season, we don't look at their stats. I say injury instead of games or PA because I don't want to leave an out for myself in the case Kendall gets benched, not that I think it will happen, because he is playing horribly. The possibility exists that we both win in which case we both lose. I would even use OPS, flawed as it is, as the deciding stat. I see that you don't think that all of those 3 guys will hit better than Kendall anymore though. I think there is an outside possibility that Yo might be able to out OPS Kendall. All of Parra, Looper and Yo, not so much. I see nothing to suggest Parra and Looper can outhit Kendall. Nothing in the past and definitely nothing this year. Parra and Looper have a combined .000 OPS right now.
  5. I am pretty convinced that Yo, Parra and Looper are more effective hitters at this point. If you stand behind this comment I will. Meaning that if you would take the aggregate of all 3 I will name stakes. Saying that all 3 would be better than Kendall was my original beef with your posts.
  6. I don' think Yo will have a higher OPS than Kendall by the end of the year.
  7. The pictures look like she has the makeup plastered on now. She seems to confirm that. There are a couple bad things about HD.
  8. You said Yo, Parra and Looper. I would think Russ should get to pick your hitter out of those 3 or you take the aggregate of all 3.
  9. Counsell has been pretty bad on defense this year. 1 bad throw in each of his first 2 games plus various misplayed balls.
  10. I think referencing how a player hits versus a certain pitcher must be another of those managery things. Macha seems to constantly be referencing these head to head match ups.
  11. Macha yelling isn't going to do any more than Parra changing socks. What about Macha yelling at Parra to change his socks?
  12. What I'm finding interesting is how everyone is now praising Rickie for turning it around at the plate, when his stats suggest that he's LESS productive than his career averages thus far. It is interesting, but not very surprising. I have defended Weeks offense in the past, but see this year as a down year on offense for him so far. It is still way to early to make any real judgment though.
  13. That is embarrassing. I don't plan on tailgating on Sunday, but if nobody else will give out an invite I guess I will have to tailgate and extend an invitation. Any BF.net members are welcome to stop by as well.
  14. Wow, let me express my embarrassment that we all forgot to specifically mention that you should try a brat. Unless you are a vegetarian of course. It is our signature ballpark food. Philly has cheese steaks, LA has Dodger dogs, and San Diego has fish tacos. I think the ballpark brats leave a little to be desired, but they are still good. I think your best bet would be to find somebody who is tailgating and doing brats on the grill. Preferably boiled in beer before or after going on the grill.
  15. I would like to know that as well. TH doesn't count either. I would like to read more by scouts, but I don't want to pay for it either.
  16. That is a tough call to make. The score was 2-3 Nat's correct? And its not like playing Dukes over Kearns will make a huge difference for the Nats' season and Kearns playing well means more to the Nats because they can trade him. Then why call up Dukes to spend half his season on the bench? Is he out of options?
  17. If you are in the 300's for the May 3rd game I will be up there. I will echo other's comments on the bags. I have a bag that I bring to every game and it is a little over the size limits. They also let you bring anything in as long as it is in clear containers except for alcohol. There was a worry this off season that may change. Thank goodness it didn't.
  18. You're comparing 10 games to last year? Isn't that what everybody is doing with his hitting?
  19. One of those triples should have been an error except they don't give out errors for any reason on outfielders.
  20. Can't expect much when the manager is starting Austin Kearns over Dukes as much as they are. As of right now they have given Dukes 6 starts and Kearns 7.
  21. I get your point, but by that logic, starting Duffy or Gwynn over Braun once / week or Nelson over Fielder once / week wouldn't matter, as it's only 4 extra PAs/week. The difference between Braun/Cameron/Hart and our backup outfielders is much greater than the difference between Rivera and Kendall.
  22. I like that the guy who pitched well in the 8th inning was left in for the 9th. Whether Coffey should have been left in to bat is highly debatable. I don't think relief pitchers should ever bat. Being up by a couple runs makes it a much different situation than if we were tied or losing though. I hope that Macha will continue to use Coffey and Villanueva in multiple inning roles starting in the 6th inning if necessary.
  23. Is it possible that DM is still figuring out "how to play with the big boys" in terms of negotiating with other GMs and agents over high-caliber players and large contracts? We have no chance with the biggest free agents. NONE. The only way they would sign with us if for a below market contract. We simply can't play with the big boys toe to toe. We have to be smarter with the mid-tier free agents and prospects. We don't have the money to buy our way out of mistakes. Until something drastically changes in the financial landscape of baseball this is going to be the case. Don't buy a jersey with a player name unless you can afford a new jersey every 5-6 years. We are going to turn over our roster. That is what we have to do to compete.
  24. Right now, they are 2 wins behind it. If they continue to lose, they'll have almost no chance of making the playoffs before May. No team has any chance of making the playoffs before May. That is usually decided at the end of the season after looking at the records of all the teams. Didn't the Brewers have some type of crazy win/loss in one run games or something last year? Yes they did and the Cubs had a really poor record in one run games in either 2007 or 2008. If you continue to play close games, they will eventually break your way about half the time as long as your bullpen doesn't completely suck.
  25. I disagree. That level of futility would have a certain amount of train wreck attraction to it.
