  1. Even though he has sunk money into the team, it isn't enough to make up for more than one or two bad signings like the Suppan deal. If he is willing to put up his own money separate from the budget that's one thing. It doesn't seem that is what the plan is. I know he put up his money to buy the franchise, but I would have a hard time believing that he would even come out behind selling the franchise.
  2. I don't think it is hard to figure at all. They may have had a good relationship with West Virginia, but having a MiLB affiliated team in the state seems like a no brainer to me. From what I have heard it is a really nice field as well. If they move to Appleton I look forward to meeting BF.net people at a few games as I plan on attending 2-3.
  3. BrewCityUnit=thephoenix
  4. At least they haven't tied the record for HR in one inning.
  5. I don't make decisions based on one series. Both Durham and Weeks have been hitting pretty well. Durham has had hamstring problems this season and I think it is best he only plays a couple times a week. I will no longer be reading or responding to your pots because I consider "get real" rude and not really necessary to make your point.
  6. It didn't have to. Weeks had been hitting very well for a couple months now. All you do by changing managers is switch one set of dumb decisions for another.
  7. What I am talking about with Durham is the fact that his previous manager, Bochy, said that he should only be used 2-3 times a week and he had previous hamstring issues just a couple months back after we acquired him. He probably was worn out playing so much.
  8. Hardy and Fielder are the 2 I think the Brewers would most like to keep of our infield. That would just gut us. Considering we probably need to upgrade 3B that trade means we would have to find suitable replacements at 3 infield positions. I don't see Escobar as being ready yet.
  9. Well starting Durham 6 straight games certainly worked out.
  10. Attendance. Minnesota may have better teams, but their attendance sucks.
  11. I hope he is back next year as well. I would prefer that he comes back as a middle reliever or setup man instead of our closer.
  12. This video came to mind when thinking of the Brewers. Weird AL: One More Minute Edit: Inserted link instead.

  14. I was looking more at Hart's OBP which has been around .300 or less since May. .358 .342 .292 .301 .310 .217
  15. I'm not sure about that. Gross and Durham have similar numbers vs. righties over their careers, but unlike Gross, Durham can also hit lefties. Durham has also been better this year. I agree that we could have really used Gross this season, but I'd rather have Durham on the bench. Hart has been terrible for much of the year. His splits suggest it might be a good idea to platoon him. Gross would make a perfect platoon partner. Gross over Hart would be a bigger gain than Durham over Weeks.
  16. I have had relationships like this before. I am unhappy with how things are going, but I know I will be kicking myself in a month if I break it off now so I just wait until they break it off first.
  17. That move still confuses me. We at BF.net talked all off season about acquiring a LH hitter for the outfield. It keeps getting brought up that we need a left handed bat off the bench. We had a decent LH bat on the bench and we traded him. Melvin kept saying they wanted a left handed bat off the bench. I think we would be better off with Gross over Durham right now. I would think Melvin comes back next year. Who would want to come in as a manager though? If Melvin comes back I would guess it is a lame duck season for him so I doubt that we will see any multi year manager contracts because if Melvin is gone, the next GM would want to hire his own manager. I guess I wouldn't be surprised to see Mark A. clean house.
  18. Well I am 0-2 on my list so far. Too Human had promise, but didn't really deliver. I rented it and palyed through in about 14 hours. That was even with replaying the first level. The Force Unleashed looks like it is getting pretty poor reviews and can be played through in a couple days at most. Looks like another rent to me. I just can't justify buying a game that can be played though over the weekend especially if that game has no replay value. On the other hand, I am having fun playing Mercenaries 2. Lots of stuff to blow up.
  19. Why is Weeks included in the salary complaints? He is making $1.057M which is the very least they could pay him this year. He hasn't even hit arbitration yet. There is no way we could get similar output for that money. If we are going to complain about 2B contracts, Durham would be the one to complain about. He is making $7.5M this year(of wich I would guess we owe just under half) for similar production to Weeks. I wouldn't complain about any contract outside of Suppan's and maybe Hall's. Other than that all are off the books and won't hurt us after this year.
  20. I think Melvin has done well bringing in pitchers in trades. Capuano, Bush, Villanueva etc. Nothing special, but decent major leaguers.
  21. I think you should have been asking for donations in early July instead of now. Bad timing.
  22. October 10th at Boston College. In that case the Brewers better make the post season so I have something to watch until then. Seems like a late start to me. It looks like 2 of the Badgers games against Minnesota are already scheduled to be on the Big Ten Network. My enthusiasm for this season has been pretty low since the CC trade. I still watch the games on weekends, but not to many weekday games anymore. I will watch as long as they keep playing.
  23. When does Badgers' Hockey start?
  24. I think we don't really have a good indication of how good our bulpen really is since I believe it has been somewhat sheltered by good starting pitching. I don't think our bulpen is terrible, but the fact that they are pretty similar to last year's pen stat wise without as many appearances by the 24th and 25th guys on the roster leads me to believe it is worse than last year's pen. Like I have said in the past, Torres isn't the type of pitcher we would normally want as a closer. A high K guy would be better. Of course those guys don't come cheap and are not easy to find. I wouldn't fire Melvin, but I get the feeling that Mark A. is about done with Melvin after this year. Edit: Wow, didn't realize Torres gave up 4 runs today.
  25. In 2008 there is not an offensive category Weeks is above average in with regard to NL 2b (BA/OBP/SLG/OPS) --- he is across the board in the bottom half. I guess you might be pretty close to being correct. I still disagree though. I think he is pretty much average this year. That even includes a first half where he way underperformed. Weeks .233/.340/.387/.727 AVG NL 2B .268/.335/.405/.740
