  1. What about John Olerud. He skipped the minors altogether. You only use one option per year. You have 3 options. You don't have to put players on the 40-man to protect them until they have 3 full years in the minors
  2. This is true, but that would be on top of 2 season ending injuries to pitchers who were expected to make the starting rotation out of spring training. I am not sure how many teams could do mush with 3 of their top 5 guys going down. I think Melvin would get a pass if Sheets goes down again.
  3. I would like that approach with any young players. I wish they had taken that approach with Braun.
  4. I am sure they have radios, but not time to be spending on the internet.
  5. I don't know much about Fort Myers (Cape Coral and Bonita Springs), does anybody know anything about these communities? I have vacationed in the Fort Myers area, Ft. Myers beach actually, but its right there. I like the area. It is a good place to take a vacation, but it really doesn't have the attractions like Disney and Sea World close. There is the beach, obviously, you could charter fishing, and I am not sure about much else. I like the fact that everything we wanted, except the grocery store, was within 5 blocks.(beach, bars, and many resturants including a great place for gyros) That way we didn't need a car at all. They have a trolly(really a bus, but that's what they call it) that cost $.50 per person to ride. Nothing was really overly expensive. You could eat out for lunch every day and eat in for dinner. I know that sounds like the opposite of what most people would normally do, but you get the same thing for lunch at places that you would for dinner at 2/3 the price.
  6. My expectation as well. I really hope they just go with Mota, Torres, or Riske for the 9th inning if one of those guys pitched in the 8th instead of bringing in another pitcher. Also with 2 lefties in the pen I would like to see Shouse and Stettter brought in if there are a couple lefties in a row in a lineup. Much like Sunday's 9th inning. As far as the 40-man roster, I am pretty sure we only have 37 guys on it right now so we wouldn't have to do anything to add a guy. http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/team/roster_40man.jsp?c_id=mil
  7. My opinion is that Sheets should pitch every 5th day(not game). Skipping as many starts as possible from our worst pitcher and running our best pitcher out there as often as possible seems like the best way to win games. Pushing him back a couple times during the season and you are taking starts away by the end of the season.
  8. I have to say that I am not surprised to see very few farmers. Especially dairy farmers. I doubt most farmers have enough time for baseball. It is a 7 day a week, 365 day a year job. The days are really long too.
  9. Maybe an extra start for Counsell and Gwynn in there, but I see no reason to make roster changes because of this. I would guess we face mostly righties all year.
  10. I think that is Counsell's real value to the team.
  11. After last year, I want players who aren't thought of as defensive liabilities brought up.
  12. I get it. Of course I think I am right in the middle of the demographic. Or towards the higher end I guess.
  13. How is getting more guys bad? If somebody is going to throw in a few more guys in a trade, I would take it as long as the players weren't a salary dump. I will admit Moeller wasn't exactly great, but who did we have at catcher who was at that point.
  14. I like it so far. The say nonlinear gameplay and I am sure it is, but early on it seems like your cousin is constantly calling you. I am not a fan of the camera or driving the cars.
  15. Unless I am mistaken, at least one wild card team has made the WS every year except once.
  16. LaRussa is one of the first names that comes up whenever people talk about a dream manager. There are many who think that LaRussa=ideal manager. I personally think he is arrogant.
  17. I think that Ramirez contract will make him look really good to other teams wanting to trade for him.
  18. He only gets service time for the time spent in the majors. It isn't like his clock starts and doesn't stop if he goes back down. I think there might be some kind of minimun though.
  19. Where is Cordero?
  20. I think Fielder's value is still highly questionable. He has only been in the league 2 years. I am sure he will be a good offensive player year in and year out, but we don't know if he is going to be in the 35 HR range or the 45 HR range every year or in the .280 or .300 range. His weight will always be an issue until he retires making people expect a huge decline early in his career. Last, but not least, he is below average defensivley. I am sure he would net a big haul, but not big enough to outweigh his value to us mostly because of his expected early decline.
  21. Ed Sedar does still do some tweaking during games. You can see him waving players deeper, shallower, or side to side once in a while.
  22. Parra at some point needs to go to the pen or AAA to cut down on his innings. I think he can improve and want him ready at the end of the year.
  23. An interseting thing about the save stat is that you can blow a save without being in line to earn a save. Makes a career save % pretty scewed if you are not a closer your whole career. Fantasy article on the Brewers pen. Has the leverage index for Torres, Mota and Riske so far. Wish it would have included Gagne in there. Mota appears to be pitching in the highest leverage situations of the 3. http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/fantasy/article/the-save-speculator-milwaukee-brewers/
